Excess space on HTML page - css

There's an excess space to the right side of my landing page on mobile view. You can check it out on https://yole-dev.github.io/floorpro.ngpro/
I have checked my CSS to see if I had accidentally set a padding-right or margin-right on the body but I can't find the bug that's causing this issue

As I can see, the pictures in your portfolio section (just above the yellow footer) are going out of the right margin of your whole page which is creating excess space on the right side of your landing page. Also, I would like to suggest you give 'margin: auto' as a CSS property to mostly all of your blocks in order to have proper alignment. Just give the 'margin: auto' property at the beginning of any CSS block.

Adjusting div heights for content

I have 3 separate graphical elements; the header, the footer, and the content-background. The content background is repeatable, and my intention is to allow the page to dynamically adjust without breaking any flow of the page. I've tried to achieve this by applying the 'header image' to a div at the top of the page - the 'content-background' to the container (of both the content area and the menu), and finally the 'footer image' at the bottom of the page - outside of the container.
It seems to work well when I have very limited content on the page - however, the moment I put a of content in the content area, it just hangs out over the edge of the images and looks awful, as opposed to repeating the background and nudging the other divs down.
I don't want to introduce overflow:scroll, or anything like such - and I'm desperate to try and avoid JavaScript. I'm sure I've made a flaw somewhere in my thinking, but I'm not too sure where. I have a feeling that I need to do something regarding positioning - and changing the heights of certain divs (container, content are still defined as the base; but whatever I set it at, it either has no effect or causes the page to look bizarre).
Instead of copying-pasting the walls of texts, I've posted the address to a temporary section on my website.
It seems like you have a few issues. Setting a height on #container is a problem, and not clearing your floats of your #content and #rightbar elements is another problem. My belief is that fixing both of those things will give you the result you're expecting.
From what I understand from your question, you want your div tags to become bigger as the text gets more and more.
The solution is simple: Use min-width instead of width. it will adjust itself

CSS can't set a bottom of the page margin

I can't seem to find a way to put a bottom margin on the page. What I want to happen is the following: when you click one of the buttons and the thumbnails appear, that list should have a bottom margin so it's not stuck at the bottom of the page.
A lot of stuff is positioned with JavaScript; I don't know if that messes around with stuff.

Surely there must be a way to set a bottom margin. Any ideas?
To make something that is positioned at the bottom of the page, you have two options.
1 - position: absoulte; margin-top: 600px (example)
2 - Use javascript to get the browser height and then change the margin-top to what ever it should be.

HTML and Body are not taking up the entire browser - HTML5 problem?

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but for some reason, I'm experiencing a bug with my markup that is causing my body element and my html element to not take up the entire viewport in the browser.
I can't get to the bottom of this. It first reared its head when I tried to add a 10px purple border to the top and bottom of my body.
If you inspect the page in Firebug, you you can see that there's a huge chunk of the page that is not highlighted when you hover on the html element or the body element. And the border that I applied at the bottom is hanging up very far on the page.
Does anyone know why this is? Could it have to do with my using HTML5?
Here's the page in question:

And here are my style sheets:

Use a sticky footer technique.
I've had a look at the current test page and it looks like the only outstanding issue is the vertical scrollbar still appearing without need to. Easiest fix for this is to simply remove any margin or padding you have on elements you've set to height:100%. The culprit I identified is div#wrapper. Take off the padding there and the issue is resolved (in FF at least - not tested on other browsers). Since the padding is added to the height you end up with an element that stretches over 100% vertically. Use margins on children instead of padding - should be fine!

Why are these two pages displaying differently?

Homepage
About page: /about.html
CSS: /saucy.css
I'm sure I'm overlooking something obvious, but I can't seem to find it.
Both of these pages stem from the same HTML skeleton and use the same CSS file for formatting. Why does the About page centre differently to the homepage?
Thanks!
They center the same for me, but I suspect that for you it's because of the scroll bar. The home page is taller, so the scroll bar on the right pushes everything left. The about page has no scroll bar so it's actually in the middle of the screen.
Your Homepage has enough content that it gets a vertical scrollbar, but your About page does not. (The same thing was going on here: CSS pages not equal even with the same css-file.)
Here are some options to consider:
Add overflow:scroll; to each page's stylesheet, (on the body element, for
example). A scrollbar will always be
rendered even when it's not
necessary, and your layout will not
move around.
Don't center your
content; specify a left margin in ems
or pixels.

CSS: Full-size divs show browser scrollbars

I have a site which needs to be fully self-contained in the browser window, ie, the user must not have to scroll up and down to view different parts of the site. Content that is too long to fit into the content pane is handled with overflow:auto, which is working fine.
the problem is, no matter what I try I still have the following problem:
two sets of scrollbars http://www.wikiforall.net/bad_scrollbars.png
So beneaht the content which successfully fills the browser window, there seems to be a gap. This gap causes the vertical scrollbar to show itself (and there appears to be a similar gap on the right side which isn't as easy to see). I've inspected the elements using Chrome's element inspector and the <html> tag covers only up to that gap. So I have no idea where the gap is coming from.
The main page divs are setup with position: absolute, with left, right, top, and bottom all set to zero. These divs also have display: inline set, and do not have margins or padding. The html and body tags are styled the same way.
I've been looking around for a day or two but nothing I've found has worked. Does anyone know how to remove these scrollbars?
You can always use:
overflow: hidden;
To hide the scrollbars.
