I have code changes in the styles.css file, but these changes are not rendered to the browser. I cannot find these changes when this file is loaded in the browser. Has anybody had such kind of problem before?
Code change which I see in the code editor:

I cleaned page from caches but it did not help.

I'm having a problem with a site that I just made live - I had to correct some CSS issues related to the background and some image placements. Everything of course looks great in VS Code. I open it in Chrome and Firefox and they look completely different - and wrong. Developer tools showed they were using the old CSS stylesheet (which was originally loaded, then replaced). If I open an incognito window, all is perfect. Any reason this would be? I'm new to this (changing careers) so I appreciate your insight!
This is most probably because the css file is cached in your browser. To fix this problem, you can use cache buster in the URL. For ex, your CSS URL is
https://www.abc.xyz/static/css/core.css
So, whenever you make changes in the CSS file, change the URL to this
https://www.abc.xyz/static/css/core.css?version=1.0.1
?version=1.0.1 changes the file URL and hence it is not loaded from cache. Just change the version number when you make the changes to the file so the URL is new again
I'm really confused as to why my browser is not updating my CSS? I've viewed it on other computers/browsers and cleared the cache but the CSS doesn't seem to update in the browser even if it is already updated via FTP.
Here's the link to the github environment that displays correctly:
https://melvinalvarez.github.io/archive2.0/
Here's the link to the url where it doesn't show the changes:
https://www.melvinalvarez.com/
the "image.css" file is not updating in the browser even if it looks updated in the FTP?
What could be the problem? I updated the files together with my index.html but the css files are the ones that does not seem to update.
I attached screenshots of the difference in the css file that does not seem update on the browser. This is what displays via FTP (I use Forklift which I think is similar to FileZilla)
image-one
and then here is what the browser displays (the css code that links the image to the blank div is missing)
image-two
Hope you can help!
I found out that this was a CloudFlare issue and purging their cache would solve the css mismatch. Hope this helps anyone encountering the same problem.
I have built a stylesheet but it doesn't appears on the page on the first load. It needs a reload to appear properly. However when I look to the source download on the dev console's network tab, I see the CSS is well downloaded. So what can lead to the non-display of my CSS on the first load since it is well loaded in a CSS module-hash's mode ?
Any hint would be great,
thanks
I have index.html and guide.html, I link to the guide.html in the index page. however when i go to the guide one through the link the page won't have the design until I refresh. What am I doint wrong? Each page has its own css.
Here's an image right after I click:
And here's another one right after I refresh:
Could be cached css/html. If it looks right after pressing ctrl+F5 on the page in question, it is working correctly.
Web browsers cache CSS files. I see you're using Chrome for Windows - CTRL + F5 will fully refresh the page, CSS and all.
If this problem appears on a live site for some reason, you could re-name your CSS file to avoid the browser using a cached version. For instance custom.css would become custom-2.css.
I just signed up for captcha. It gave me php code to display the captcha box on the page and code to put on the server. It works fine but the input box is misaligned (it might be based on the rest of the styling of the page.) I want to modify it manually but I can't.
When I do an inspect code in google chrome, it shows me the styling for the input box I needed. I unchecked a particular style
position: absolute!important
and it now looks fine. Now I need to actually modify the code. But it says the location is registration.php:1. Where is this? Registration.php is the file which creates the html code for the page and it does a "require" for a captcha php file. But I don't see the css style in that file either!
See these 2 images to see where the CSS could be coming from:
1- In Chrome console under the elements tab
2- In Chrome console under the resources tab
