I'm trying to create a sticky/fixed left column within an overall 2-column layout. Because there is content above, the sticky element needs to be within a parent container (vs. relative to the viewport/entire page).

The Issue:
Even though I have specified the column width, the sticky content can overflow into the other column. The other issue I have is that this does not appear to be responsive — the sticky still overflows into the main column.
Is there any way to have a sticky/fixed element within a parent container?

Let me preface this by saying I am not certain that the underlying approach you have taken here for your layout-- putting a fixed container inside of a grid cell-- is sound or wise, and it may end up being quite buggy or a source of pain for you. I'm only addressing the specific ask in the question.
That said, the specific issue here is that the fixed position sticky side has no defined width-- perhaps just due to it being position: fixed or some combination with grid. I've just eyeballed a width of 7% and that seems to mostly work. That said, there may be a wiser way to fix just this problem, and there may be a better overall approach to accomplish what you're doing here-- perhaps another answerer can provide a better solution.

So quick background. I am making a dark mode stylesheet for Bulma where I am just swapping out the SCSS variables and rebuilding all the components. Basically I have something like this:

So the idea is that I have all my light and dark mode in a single css file and then a wildcard CSS rule to set the transitions for every single elements' text color, bg color, and border colors.
It mostly works but I found that my .content {} text is noticeably slower than everything else.

So first, if you toggle the dark mode with the button at the top and watch the "post date" text under the content you'll see that the color transition is much slower than everything else.
You'll also see that the post content itself is even worse. But if you jump into the CSS and uncomment lines 20-22 the content transition will now work as expected.
So why are these specific transitions slower than everything else?
EDIT - it looks like things work expected in Firefox
The content will first inherit the color and then apply the transition so it's like you have 2 transitions running.
Here is a simplified example to better see the issue. On hover the last one will be faster because we have no transition on the p element

To fix your issue, try to reduce the transition as much as possible to avoid the cascading effect or try to avoid having inherited properties with transition.
I'm working through the Mozilla website's tutorial on CSS Flexbox, but I can't get the flex-wrap: wrap option to work as the tutorial describes. <article> tags are block-level elements, so if we don't assign any width separately, they will take the whole page width and the next article element will start from the next row which is why the issue is coming as shown in the screenshots above in question. Providing separate width to the article tag will allow the next article element to come beside the first article element, You can also understand this using the box model.

It's going to need a state to transfer from. For instance if the element is full width then the default state would be max-w-full and the default state will also need transition-all or a custom variant for transition that includes max-width, and a duration class.

I have a div with an already established class that I cannot remove but I need to for both visual readers and the screen reader to be able to "read" the contents. As I understand it, sr-only is for the screen reader to only be able to read, how do I develop this for both screen readers and visual readers?

If you want to make the text visible to both screen readers and sighted users viewing the text visually, there is no further action required. Assuming the text is viewable on screen, it will already be viewable to screen readers by default.
Note that class="page instructions" means the element has the class of page and the class of instructions (class names are space delimited). So if, for example, you wanted text to have classes sr-only and page-instructions, you would simply use class="sr-only page-instructions".
I'm trying to create a header (comparable to MailChimp's) but instead of if being fixed all the time, I want the header to scroll up with the page and only drop down once the user has made an upward scrolling motion.
I have this working at present by adding a class that has postion: fixed; and then applying transform: translateY(-50px); to position the header off screen. Here's the trick, when this happens, the postion: fixed; starts at what appears to be top: 0; and therefore shows itself before sliding up (I have a transition on the top to slide it up gracefully). Anyone know how I can force the header to start off canvas and then go transition to transform: translateY(0); when I queue it.

Gave header .fixed class in the markup and removed it from JS (because you can translate it without removing the positioning)
