Error processing method: 'System.Void NLog.LogReceiverService.NLogEvent - xamarin.forms

I have a .NET standard Xamarin Forms application developing in Visual Studio 2017. I am facing an error while building in Release mode by linking SDK assemblies only.
I tried with a custom linker file with NLog assembly but it was failed. Please see the detailed error below.

I found this error after publishing the site on the server.
I tried a lot to solve this problem from my side but nothing works for me.
I have tried to update all those packages with the latest and still does not work for me.
But, it works well when I run a project in Visual Studio without any problems.
I have checked these 2 links to fix my problem but it still doesn't work for me.

Update your web.config to specify a different version?
However, I tried to install the downgraded (older) version and I got a 404 error code, the resource could not be found.
Also, I have checked all the web config files where the version has been declared and it seems right for me.
I don't know what I should do with this error message.
It would be nice if someone could help me with this.

Xamarin Android - Mono.Linker.MarkException when calling a method from another project

I have a Xamarin application which also has a project reference to an adapted version of the https://github.com/XAM-Consulting/TEditor project.
This has previously worked fine when I've used the linker to do a release build, but as I've been gearing up for a second app release, I now get a linker exception:

The setter in question is just a method where I set the property of the object:
_editor.PageTitle = ApproveTitle;
I know that this can be avoided by setting Linking to None but that's not going to help the app in the long run and I want to use the linker.
Any help would be really appreciated!!

I really don't know what I've done wrong I've tried changing the target and compile versions to the latest versions but still nothing. My Forms Nuget is Updated also.
This is a known bug.
Bug 48014 - blank xaml app (xamarin.forms portable) release build fails
The bug was fixed in an alpha release:
Jose Gallardo 2016-12-02 19:54:01 UTC
.../...
We're going to replace the old cross-platform templates with a new set of templates where this issue is fixed.
That new version will be out in the next XVS 4.3 preview (which will be available in the Alpha channel probably next week).
To add to my answer, there's other issues that may need to be addressed with that update.
Taken from Xamarin Android no longer builds release after Xamarin Update, John Miller:
Check that you have the following installed:
XVS 4.2.0.703
Android SDK Tools 25.2.2
Android Platform-tools 24.0.3
Android
Build-tools 24.0.3
Android support repository 38
Java 1.8 (8u101) 64 bit (Remove Java 1.7 if you have it, see more info
here:
https://developer.xamarin.com/releases/android/xamarin.android_7/xamarin.android_7.0/)
Make sure you have API 23 or 24 installed to compile the Android
project against.

Anyone knows how to fix this?
You have a reference to an old version of System.Net.Http in your project. To fix this, go under "References" in your project, delete System.Net.Http, and add the version that comes with .NET 4.5 instead. That should do it.
Henrik
Solution to this and other RC-related issues right here.
step 1
Remove the below references from your project:
System.Net.Http, System.Web.Http, System.Web.Http.WebHost , System.Web.Http.Common & System.Net.Http.Formatting
step 2
Add the above refefrences (except the System.Web.Http.Common & System.Net.Http.Formatting) from Below location
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC 4\Packages\Microsoft.AspNet.WebApi.Core.4.0.20505.0\lib\net40
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC 4\Packages\Microsoft.AspNet.WebApi.WebHost.4.0.20505.0\lib\net40
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC 4\Packages\Microsoft.Net.Http.2.0.20505.0\lib\net40
and add one more new dll Newtonsoft.Json.dll from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC 4\Packages\Newtonsoft.Json.4.5.1\lib\net40
This fixed it for me.

Method not found: 'Void System.Net.Http.Headers.HttpHeaders.AddWithoutValidation(System.String, System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1)'.
I resolved it with the following steps. Not sure if all of them are required, but it worked.
In NuGet Package Manager, uninstalled the Web.API Beta package.
Added references to System.Net.Http, System.Web.Http, & System.Web.Http.WebHost (these were removed by the previous step).
Installed Json.Net via NuGet.
As an addition, if your project is targeting the 4.0 version of the framework, you must include the new Microsoft ASP.Net Web API set of packages from NUGET, to get a green light for your build. Json.Net is a dependency for these new packages, so you need not install it separate.

ActivationManager Exception during build process?

I'm getting the following exception when building a website project in VS 2010:
The pre-application start initialization method Run on type WebActivator.ActivationManager threw an exception with the following error message: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation..
How do I go about debugging this? It's happening when I build in VS.NET and from the command-line (e.g., via NAnt/MSBuild).
To solve this, you need to supply the -errorstack argument to the aspnetcompiler. Then when it fails, you'll get not only the stack trace of the exception you're seeing now, but also the InnerException that it's wrapping. For instance, here's the output when the build error is caused by a problem with a Cassette dll not being loaded:

bActivator.ActivationManager threw an exception with the following error message

I'd like to up-vote Xoltar's answer, but this is my first contribution to SO so I don't have the rep!
I had a very similar problem on our build-server (TeamCity), here's a clip from the build-log:

[00:10:39]: error ASPRUNTIME : The pre-application start initialization method Run on type WebActivator.ActivationManager threw an exception with the following error message: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.. To diagnose the problem I ran ASPNET_COMPILER, using the -errorstack argument against what MSBUILD had generated for site. In this case:
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319>aspnet_compiler -p "C:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\1ee8c94c32e676ad\source\Project.Site" -v anything -errorstack

In my case a dependency on one of the Azure assemblies (which wasn't installed on the build server) was the root of the problem.
Increase the verbosity level of the msbuild task or command line to get more detailed error messages.
For example, use /verbosity:detailed.

In my case, I was seeing the message [AspNetCompiler] error ASPRUNTIME error message: Value cannot be null. in TeamCity.
In the full build logs, the more useful message at the bottom was:
error ASPRUNTIME : The pre-application start initialization method InitializePreStart on type MyApplication.MvcApplication threw an exception with the following error message: Value cannot be null.
As it turns out I had an exception being thrown by a method I had defined using PreApplicationStartMethod:
[assembly: System.Web.PreApplicationStartMethod(typeof(MyApp.MvcApplication), "InitializePreStart")]
namespace PrintFleet.PFE.RestService
{
public class MvcApplication : System.Web.HttpApplication
{
//....
public static void InitializePreStart()
{
// exception thrown here
}
}
}
The cause in my case was my prestart method was loading settings from the registry, and they didn't exist on the build server (but did on my machine, so it worked when I built it). I have no clue why webdeployment projects run this code.
I wrapped the entire thing in a try..catch that logs a fatal message (which in my app, goes to both the log file and windows event log). In builds, I don't really care if it fails since it doesn't need to do anything. In actual installations, if the settings are missing the app won't work (and so the log explains why).
Now, to the OP the problem seems to be in web activator. I would not be surprised if there is a method using webactivor in App_Start folder that is throwing the error, which is making it look like it's coming from WebActivator. Check there first, wrap things in try..catch if needed. It's also possible there is a bug in webactivator itself.
So because I came across this post while researching the problem, hopefully this information is useful to at least someone else.
TL;DR: Web deployment projects run the ApplicationPreStart methods when they compile. Ensure that you have try..catch blocks around any code run at prestart time or can otherwise handle the situation where the code is executed during compile time on your build server(s), outside of the IIS/hosting environment.
