How to auto refresh the share site? Now when someone post an answer in share discussion the user has to refresh the page in order to view the answer. How to auto refresh the page?
There is no pre-defined auto-refresh component in Share. You'll have to code it yourself.
Option 1: Auto-Poll the server every x seconds via JavaScript, e.g. use YAHOO.lang.later(...)
Option 2: Write your own Alfresco Policy to trigger a Server-Sent Events + consume such event in Share
Option 3: Introduce WebSockets
All Options will require deep knowledge of JavaScript in the Browser, especially YUI & Alfresco's custom Share components & utils. Option 2 & 3 will additionally require deep knowledge of Java & Alfresco's Java Foundation API.
I edited toolbar.get.html in tomcat\webapps\share\WEB-INF\classes\alfresco\site-webscripts\org\alfresco\components\discussions. I added the following meta tag
<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="100">. This is working.
I made a polling timer to update specific data instead of reloading the whole page

I have a client who wants a tag to fire on a thank you page but have users come from a form fill on a previous page. I've tried all types of set ups but none of them work 100 percent. The only thing I know is that the client site is a single page application which does not support the refer variable. The option that semi-worked leverages the history change trigger type however the client needs to track people who uniquely submitted the form fill page and made it to the thank you page.
The best option here would be adding a dataLayer.push to the successful form submission callback. That is, if the form is submitted via JS.
If it's just a standard (legacy) html form submission, then GTM has listeners for those. But they're rare, especially on SPAs.
If adding a dataLayer.push seems too complex, well then use the thank you page (with the history change) in conjunction with a short-lived cookie to prevent double firing, but it's a hack and not without bugs.
I'm writing an app which involves letting users to share comments on a website, which has a comment form with Google's reCAPTCHA embeded. I would like to load this page via HTTP and display CAPTCHA within my app, so that user can post comments from my app. Is it easy to implement or should I rather try other solution?

I've red reCAPTCHA developer guide. If I would like to embed captcha inside my form, I'd need to insert div element with a proper class, and make a ajax request in order to render captcha. This call would insert an iframe into a given div. What I need is to know how to access that iframe's content without using AJAX.
Turns out we are not supposed to do that kind of tricks with reCAPTCHA.
There is no support for that in API. It seems that it was part of Google's design to prevent that kind of usage.
The only walkaround I could come up with is to implement a WebView widget with JavaScript support, get website via http, and load it into this webview, centering this view around the form we want to post.
It seems like a lot of work though, thus I'm going to simply skip this, if someone successfuly manages to figure it out I'd appreciate a hint :)
This works in other browsers but not in chrome. I am trying to allow users to upload large files and have an ajax call to update them on the progress of the file upload.
So a unique ID is generated on the client side and added to the action of the form before sending. Then the form is submitted (form only contains a file upload input) and an ajax call is made to get the progress of the upload.
The ajax call goes to another page and uses the ID to lookup the upload.
I am using JQuery 1.5.1. Debugging this and putting something on the error function give me nothing other than "error". Not very helpful. I used Chrome's debugger and it just says failed to load resource xxxx.aspx. xxx.aspx is the URL i needed. Turns out that there seems to be some sort of conflict between the form and the ajax call.
Is there some way to get around this?
you should really look at SWFupload, a great flash based uploader, with concurrent upload and progressbar support. Also it makes it really easy to use server-side, you dont need to implement upload percentage view as it client-side based.
not exactly an answer to your question, but a link to a tool that can really help you drill down and find good error messages, step through javascript code and such would be firebug for Chrome, I got the IE and Chrome versions working and use it very regularly, it has been a life saver and greatly has decreased debugging time:

I want to make a site where there user can basically navigate the web from within an iframe. The catch is that I'd like to be able to have more control over what is rendered within the iframe. Specifically,
I'd like to be able to filter out images or text, disable forms etc.
I'd also like to be able to gather feedback such as what links the users clicked on.
Question 1:
Is this even possible using a standard back-end scripting language (like php), with html and javascript on the frontend?
Question 2:
Would I first need to grab the source of the site before it is rendered, then do whatever manipulation is necessary, and finally re-render it somehow?

I think you would probably want to grab the source of the of site (with server-side code) before rendering it. You might run into cross-site scripting issues if you try to use JavaScript. Your iframe would load a page like render.php and pass the address of the page to render os a querystring parameter. Then use regular expressions to find elements in the HTML that render.php downloads from the address. Rewrite the HTML as necessary and then write it all out to the iframe.
Rewrite links so that that the user is taken to a page you control and redirected onto a target site if you want to track where people are going. Example: a link in the page needs to go to google.com. You would send them to tracker.php?target=http://google.com. You control tracker.php and can log each load of this page and then redirect the user to the target site.
Update:
Another possible solution is to use Apache or other server to proxy the target website. There are modules like mod_proxy for this. There may also be modules that let you parse the HTML or you could roll your own.
I should point out that even the best solutions offered to your question will be somewhat brittle if you do not have full control over the target site. You will want to have lots of error handling or alerting.
You can have a look at this. It uses iFrame really well, and maybe even use the library it has.
I've been checking out facebook connect stuff from the new actionscript 3 library from Adobe. I have been trying to figure out how to use the facebook connect button inside of a flex app.
In an html page you would us the fbml and it would automatically put the facebook connect button on your page and when the user clicks on it it pops up the face div and lets the user login. Well you can't use that in flex. So I could put it on the page containing the swf but, that's why I'm using flex and not html. I've seen it done by the guys at Universal Mind so I know it's possible. I just need a little direction.
I know the function to use in the facebook connect api to cause that login dialog to come up I just can't figure the correct combination.

This should be applicable to Flex. This would be done using the ExternalInterface calls from within Flash.

In Adobe facebook-actionscript-api there is a class LoginWindow which you can use.
When you need it this window will open like small flash popup window and it will display facebook login page and enable user to login. All needed events will be raised and you should be connected after that. I didn't tested it but from the code looks like what you need.

The sample kind of sucks... it forces you to connect before showing the Flex app.
You need to tweek the example to get it to do what you want.
Also, FB depreciated some of the methods, so you have to look up new methods that aren't depreciated.
I'd love to update the sample, but I don't have the time to dedicated to another project.
