I'm not sure if it's the best place to ask this question. But it's conсerned aspютуе and iis and so i'll ask it.
I have web application hosted in iis (really it's tfs which i try to get up). Main page is normally opened with my windows credentials but if i go to admin page "server_name/tfs/_Admin" (to create project in project collection) I redirected to "server_name/tfs/_Admin/Login.cshtml?ReturnUrl=~%2f_admin" and get strange page (see screen).
What is the page and where is it in filesystem or why is it shown?
Seems the TFS site was messed by something that which escaped our monitoring. Seems it redirected to other site page.
You can try to back current TFS site files first ,then copy the site files from another normal machine which installed the same version of TFS, then overwrite current site files. Then try it again.
If that still not work, I'm afraid that you have to uninstall and reinstall the TFS to fix that.
In you case, I suggest you to Move or Clone Team Foundation Server from one hardware to another then upgrade the new server to 2017.
In the office we have a server on the 'N' drive and we use IIS6 to create folders on our current domain which are then used as test directories for website building. Our website's domain is 'www.example.com' and sometimes, when I want to create a test environment for a new website, I'll go into IIS6, create a new directory e.g. 'test', make into into an application and then upload the website files and navigate to 'www.example.com/test' to find the website that I've built.
I've recently finished building a new website using ASP.NET MVC 4 platform, but I'm having a bit of trouble actually publishing it to a new directory that I've created e.g. 'test2'. I'm currently trying to publish it by right licking the project in VS 2012 and clicking publish before electing to publish the project using the 'file system' method and selecting the directory I wish to public to 'test2'. After clicking okay, the files are published okay but when navigating to 'www.example.com/test2', I get a 403 error message.
I'm obviously doing something wrong, so if anyone has any idea of what's going wrong I'd appreciate your help.
Thanks
I don't believe IIS 6 supports MVC
I have website in VS2008. Created the Virtual directory in IIS 5.1. When I try and run the site to debug from Visual Studio I keep on getting:
Your Web service is now running.
You do not currently have a default Web page established for your users. Any users attempting to connect to your Web site from another machine are currently receiving an Under Construction page. Your Web server lists the following files as possible default Web pages: default.htm,default.asp,index.htm,iisstart.asp. Currently, only iisstart.asp exists.
To add documents to your default Web site, save files in c:\inetpub\wwwroot.
I have no idea why this is happening.
Can anyone help me?
If I understand correctly, it may be as simple as this:
In Solution Explorer, right-click on the page you want to be the default page and click "Set as Start Page".
I have 2 web application projects. One is my asp.net MVC app and the other is for the admin related functions which is asp.net web forms Dynamic Data. My MVC app would be the main site, but I would want the webforms to work under an Admin folder of the MVC site.
While debugging the application, I would like the "/admin/Default.aspx" link on the MVC site to link to the default page within my Dynamic Data site. How do I accomplish this? I know I can test each project independently.
Within the visual studio project, you can right click on a folder and select "Convert to Web Application" which resolved my issue.
The easiest way would be to run them both in separate virtual directories and use Url Rewriting to push requests for the root to the public site. You can nest ASP.NET applications, but that generally requires quite a bit of fussing with the configuration file to dodge inheritance issues.
You could achieve this behavior via your IIS-Manager. Click on the Website, navigate to the folder you want to behave like a separate application and use right-mouse click and press "convert-to-application".
How to add custom ASP.NET pages into sharepoint?
I am very new to sharepoint but what I realized is that I can only make plain text pages or links. but what if I have a website already built in ASP.NET and want to add it through sharepoint.
Or is it possible to build the website itself from sharepoint including dynamic server side controls like buttons, trees ....
Simple answer: put your *.aspx files in inside the _layouts folder, usually located at
c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\
afterwards you can access you page (named page1.aspx for example) through the sharepoint site by:
http://your site name/_layouts/page1.aspx
You can have inline code and/or code-behind, just like in a normal aspx page.
However, please note that pages added through this method are called application pages, meaning that they cannot be customized (easily) by the user and are available under all site collections in your farm.
SharePoint supports another kind of pages, called Site Pages which are site-specific, you can read more about them here.
