I am moving my application from IIS 6.0/Windows Server 2003 to IIS 7.5/Windows Server 2008 R2 and it use the WebSuperGoo ABCpdf control to convert web pages into printable PDFs.
When I browse to the page that converts the webpage to a PDF, it generates a PDF of a "Navigation to the web was cancelled" error page.
I am using the 8.1.0.9 version of the ABCpdf and changed the namespace in the page from WebSupergoo.ABCpdf7 to WebSupergoo.ABCpdf.
Has anyone expected this issue and know how to solve it?
I just encountered the same error and my co-worker had an immediate answer.
In my case it was that the website was protected with a password by IIS.
ABCpdf does not know how to enter credential information so it won't work if the page is asking for username/password.
I have abandoned ABC PDF all together and replaced it with Winnovative HTML to PDF Convertor for .NET
We renewed our redistributable license because another developer within our company was using an older version and mentioned it would be a good replacement for ABC PDF.
This could also be that the server cant see the website URL. this is normal on production servers running a NAT.
Just change the hostfile on the server to allow the domain to resolve.

I have two ASP.NET sites on my IIS 7 (Windows Server 2008 R2)
First one works perfect, it opens default.aspx page any other aspx pages as well as html, but second site doesn't open neither .aspx nor .html links, so for example if I try to open http://mysite.com/Default.aspx url, it just shows an empty page without any content or any error.
What it could be?
Thanks.
Well, many things can be broken.
Few tips:
Start Chrome, Firefox (with Firebug addon) or Fiddler or any other http proxy and check what the server is sending - is it HTTP 200, 404, something else?
check IIS logs c:\inetpub\logs\Logfiles\w3svc
check EventLog
compare httpmodules in working website with those of the website which is not working
ensure correct app pool with correct .net version is set for site
try to convert website to webapp
if all fails, delete website and create it from scratch. If it works it may suggest that IIS metabase was damaged.
Another workaround that I suggest:
Open the "hosts" file using Notepad in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts
then add
127.0.0.1 YourWebsite
Next, try to add binding to a site as suggested here at (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731692%28v=WS.10%29.aspx)
I hope it helps you.
I am trying to set up my Windows Server 2012 to run an ASP.NET website. The website can serve html pages and .svc pages, but whenever I visit an .aspx page, it will simply time out.
Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT)
If I would at least get some sort of error description, I could go from there, but I just get a timeout message, as if the server is completely unavailable, so I am stuck with this problem.
It seems the aspx pages are not loaded at all, since I've already tried drastic measures such as putting a "throw Exception" in the first line of Page_Load.
If I create a new site and put just an aspx page in there, it executes fine.
The Event Log is not showing anything in relation to this.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Creating a new web site in IIS8 and pointing to the same folder made it work. Now the site is working fine and running code as normal.
My guess is, that if I created the website before installing all needed features, they were not part of that site. Now, after installing a new site, it contains all the current features.
It doesn't make TOO much sense, though, as the server had ASP.NET 4.5 from installation (it's Windows Server 2012).
Open up the Web Platform Installer.
Now look for IIS: ASP.NET 4.5 and install that.
I had the same problem as everyone else and nothing worked until I did that.
There is a difference between installing dotNET on your computer/server and dotNET for IIS.
I have got 2 Server 1. IIS Server (Internet Access), 2. File Server (No Internet Access) but both the server on the same network. I want to display the pdf from my File server but when i run the website using asp.net its works.. But When i host the website its doesn't show the pdf. The Page comes Blanks.. My Friend Told me that you need to use impersonation but after that also it dosen't work.. Any Help will be really appreciated on this.
(Asp.Net Development Server) :- Worked
After hosting the website in IIS When i view the website using my Internal IP Address It is not showing the Pdf Below is the screenshot
It sounds as if you will have to use UNC to get your file.
It would be best if you could tell us what error are you getting on the hosted env.
I would also check : Determining if file exists using c# and resolving UNC path
I have an asp.net website that has been running well in IIS 6.0. I very well remember the sites ASP.NET version was set to version 2.0 in IIS but i just checked and found the version set to nothing. If i click the site asp.net version dropdownlist in IIS, i can see two options(1.1.4322 and 2.0.50727).
The problem is i set it back to 2.0 and now the site can nolonger be accessed both remotely and locally.
And i cant set it back to "nothing" since the version dropdownlist only has two options( 2.0.50727 and 1.1.4322).
Any ideas what could be going wrong.

It sounds like .NET isn't properly installed on your IIS website.
Try to open a command prompt, step into %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ and run aspnet_regiis.exe (use the directive -? for help). If you only run one IIS website on your server you can run aspnet_regiis.exe -i
Hope this may help you.
.net 1.1 and .net 2.0 don't get along well on IIS 6.0. You must run one of the frameworks in a different app pool - so, for every 1.1 website, for example, run it in a new app pool (other than the default).
I have previously used Expression Web with XP and MS Server 2003 and in each case I am able to preview .asp pages in the browser.
I have now transferred to Vista and get the error "this page may contain dynamic content that requires a Web server...."
On the other hand should I wish to preview an HTML page there is no problem.
I am aware that Expression does not support Classic ASP IntelliSense, but I can live with that.....if I have to.
It seems that the (HTML) pages you are able to preview are not being served by a web server.
Are you able to confirm that they are being presented on the http (http://...) protocol and not the local file protocol (file:///...)?
