how to hover group of elements on hovering another element? - css

I have one div .product-wrapper that contains group of elements. And I need to animate them all on hovering on the div container.
the problem is I only get animation when hovering on the main container div .product-wrapper, and whenever I hover any other element included inside the container .product-wrapper all animation get lose.
.product-wrapper{
width: 270px;
height: auto;
margin-bottom: 8px;
overflow: hidden;
position: relative;
border: 1px solid #9999;
}
.product-wrapper>img{
width: 100%;
height: 180px;
margin: 0 auto;
transition: transform .5s; /* Animation */
}
.product-wrapper>img:hover{
transform: scale(1.5);
}
.product-wrapper .title{
background-color: #9999;
border-top: 1px solid #fff;
border-bottom: 1px solid #fff;
color: #fff;
opacity: 0;
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
width: 100%;
padding: 8px;
text-align: center;
z-index: 1;
font-size: 20px;
transition: .3s ease;
}
.product-wrapper:hover .title{
opacity: 1;
top: 10%;
box-shadow:0 0 0 200vmax rgba(0,0,0,.2);
}
.product-wrapper>a {
cursor: pointer;
background-color: #9999;
color: #fff;
padding: 10px;
border: 1px solid #fff;
opacity: 0;
position: absolute;
bottom: 0;
left: 50%;
transform: translate(-50%, -50%);
-ms-transform: translate(-50%, -50%);
text-align: center;
transition: .5s ease;
z-index: 2;
}
.product-wrapper:hover a{
opacity: 1;
bottom: 5%;
}
.product-wrapper>div {
background-color: #9999;
color: #fff;
padding: 10px;
text-align: center;
z-index: 2;
position: absolute;
bottom: 0;
left: 0px;
width: 100%;
border-top: 1px solid #fff;
}
.product-wrapper:hover div{
opacity: 0;
bottom: 30%;
}
<div class="product-wrapper">
<span class="title">product name</span>
<img class="zoomImg" src="https://img.freepik.com/free-vector/hand-drawn-illustration-container-ship-sea_23-2149149324.jpg?w=2000" />
<a asp-controller="News" asp-action="PalNew" asp-route-id="#item.ID" class="ajax">more ...</a>
<div class="ribbon">product name</div>
</div>

The issue with your code was that you weren't telling your code to change when hovered on parent element but rather specifically on the img element itself. Here's what I could do with your question
css:
.product-wrapper{
width: 270px;
height: auto;
margin-bottom: 8px;
overflow: hidden;
position: relative;
border: 1px solid #9999;
}
.product-wrapper>img{
width: 100%;
height: 180px;
margin: 0 auto;
transition: transform .5s; /* Animation */
}
.product-wrapper:hover > img{
transform: scale(1.5);
}
.product-wrapper .title{
background-color: #9999;
border-top: 1px solid #fff;
border-bottom: 1px solid #fff;
color: #fff;
opacity: 0;
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
width: 100%;
padding: 8px;
text-align: center;
z-index: 1;
font-size: 20px;
transition: .3s ease;
}
.product-wrapper:hover .title{
opacity: 1;
top: 10%;
box-shadow:0 0 0 200vmax rgba(0,0,0,.2);
}
.product-wrapper>a {
cursor: pointer;
background-color: #9999;
color: #fff;
padding: 10px;
border: 1px solid #fff;
opacity: 0;
position: absolute;
bottom: 0;
left: 50%;
transform: translate(-50%, -50%);
-ms-transform: translate(-50%, -50%);
text-align: center;
transition: .5s ease;
z-index: 2;
}
.product-wrapper:hover a{
opacity: 1;
bottom: 5%;
}
.product-wrapper>div {
background-color: #9999;
color: #fff;
padding: 10px;
text-align: center;
z-index: 2;
position: absolute;
bottom: 0;
left: 0px;
width: 100%;
border-top: 1px solid #fff;
}
.product-wrapper:hover div{
opacity: 0;
bottom: 30%;
}
<div class="product-wrapper">
<span class="title">product name</span>
<img class="zoomImg" src="https://img.freepik.com/free-vector/hand-drawn-illustration-container-ship-sea_23-2149149324.jpg?w=2000" />
<a asp-controller="News" asp-action="PalNew" asp-route-id="#item.ID" class="ajax">more ...</a>
<div class="ribbon">product name</div>
</div>
not much changed just told the code to transform the child when the parent is hovered. hope this helped.

Setting A Hamburger Menu So That It Stretches Across The Entire Screen

Below is the code that I've used to create a responsive hamburger menu. I'd like to set the hamburger menu so that when opened it stretches (and is displayed) across the entire screen. I imagine that this would involve editing the CSS, which I have unsuccessfully tried doing.
If anyone has any ideas on how I could have the hamburger menu displayed across the entire screen, I'd appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me. Thank you.

It's just a matter of adjusting the menu width and the translation dimension to match. Look into how you can use your browser's document inspector to find styles relevant to your goals.
FYI, you don't need vendor prefixes for transform or transition.

How to place line underneath the circle? without z-index

I made an X with a circle using css.
There is a green line that is sticking out on top of the circle, how do I place it under the circle?
How would this be done?
code: https://jsfiddle.net/6wod3pLm/
That is all I am doing in the code.
.exitnew {
-webkit-appearance: none;
appearance: none;
position: relative;
box-sizing: border-box;
margin: auto;
padding: 0;
width: 48px;
height: 48px;
cursor: pointer;
background: blue;
border: none;
border-radius: 50%;
clip-path: circle(50%);
transition: all 1s ease;
overflow: hidden;
}
.exitnew:before,
.exitnew:after {
content: "";
position: absolute;
height: 5px;
top: 22px;
left: -1px;
right: -1px;
background: green;
transform: rotate(45deg);
transition: all 1s ease;
}
.exitnew:after {
transform: rotate(-45deg);
}
.exitnew:hover {
background: transparent;
}
.exitnew:hover:before,
.exitnew:hover:after {
background: green;
}
.exitnew b {
box-sizing: border-box;
position: absolute;
left: 0;
top: 0;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
border: 5px solid red;
border-radius: 50%;
}
<button class="exitnew" type="button" aria-label="Close"><b></b></button>
You don't need all these code. Here is an easier idea:
.exitnew {
-webkit-appearance: none;
appearance: none;
box-sizing: border-box;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
width: 48px;
height: 48px;
cursor: pointer;
--b:7px; /* the thickness*/
--c:blue 90deg,green 0; /* the coloration */
background:
conic-gradient(from 90deg at var(--b) var(--b),var(--c))
calc(100% + var(--b)/2) calc(100% + var(--b)/2)/
calc(50% + var(--b)) calc(50% + var(--b));
border: 5px solid red;;
border-radius: 50%;
transform:rotate(45deg);
}
<button class="exitnew" type="button" aria-label="Close"></button>
You just need to use z-index property on the :after CSS selector:
.exitnew {
-webkit-appearance: none;
appearance: none;
position: relative;
box-sizing: border-box;
margin: auto;
padding: 0;
width: 48px;
height: 48px;
cursor: pointer;
background: blue;
border: none;
border-radius: 50%;
clip-path: circle(50%);
transition: all 1s ease;
overflow: hidden;
}
.exitnew:before,
.exitnew:after {
content: "";
position: absolute;
height: 5px;
top: 22px;
left: -1px;
right: -1px;
background: green;
transform: rotate(45deg);
transition: all 1s ease;
z-index: -1
}
.exitnew:after {
transform: rotate(-45deg);
}
.exitnew:hover {
background: transparent;
}
.exitnew:hover:before,
.exitnew:hover:after {
background: green;
}
.exitnew b {
box-sizing: border-box;
position: absolute;
left: 0;
top: 0;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
border: 5px solid red;
border-radius: 50%;
}
<button class="exitnew" type="button" aria-label="Close"><b></b></button>
:before and :after are like html bread on you element sandwich. :before is the bottom slice, and :after is the top slice.
Add a negative z-index to the :before, :after styles and that will position your :after behind the button the same as the :before.
.exitnew:before,
.exitnew:after {
content: "";
position: absolute;
height: 5px;
top: 22px;
left: -1px;
right: -1px;
background: green;
transform: rotate(45deg);
transition: all 1s ease;
z-index: -1;
}
EDIT WITHOUT Z-INDEX
.exitnew {
-webkit-appearance: none;
appearance: none;
position: relative;
box-sizing: border-box;
margin: auto;
padding: 0;
width: 48px;
height: 48px;
cursor: pointer;
background: blue;
border: none;
border-radius: 50%;
clip-path: circle(50%);
transition: all 1s ease;
overflow: hidden;
}
.exitnew:before,
.exitnew:after {
content: "";
position: absolute;
height: 5px;
width: 38px;
top: 22px;
left: 5px;
right: 5px;
background: green;
transform: rotate(45deg);
transition: all 1s ease;
}
.exitnew:after {
transform: rotate(-45deg);
}
.exitnew:hover {
background: transparent;
}
.exitnew:hover:before,
.exitnew:hover:after {
background: green;
}
.exitnew b {
box-sizing: border-box;
position: absolute;
left: 0;
top: 0;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
border: 5px solid red;
border-radius: 50%;
}
<button class="exitnew" type="button" aria-label="Close"><b></b></button>
You can set the z-index property to send the green line(s) backward, "behind" the circle:
.exitnew:before,
.exitnew:after {
content: "";
position: absolute;
height: 5px;
top: 22px;
left: -1px;
right: -1px;
background: green;
transform: rotate(45deg);
transition: all 1s ease;
z-index: -1;
}
here's an example: https://jsfiddle.net/q7zprh4w/
This is a solution without b and z-index:
.exitnew {
position: relative;
width: 48px;
height: 48px;
border: 5px solid red;
border-radius: 50%;
background-color: blue;
}
.exitnew::before {

background-color: green;
transform: rotate(45deg);

.exitnew::after {

I put the red border to the button itself. So the two pseudo element ::before and ::after aren't overlapping the red border.
Note: I don't use box-sizing: border-box

Why is that the before content doesnt contain within the button. i always have this issue designing buttons

The below code makes the before content flow outside the button itself. what should I do to contain it within the button
I need a parameter that fits the before content inside the button itself........................................................................................................................................................................
===================================================
button {
padding: 0.9em 2em;
border: 2px solid #17C3B2;
position: absolute;
background-color: transparent;
text-align: center;
text-transform: uppercase;
font-size: 16px;
color: #ddd;
transition: .3s;
display: block;
font-family: inherit;
color: #17C3B2;
z-index: 1;
}
button::before {
overflow: hidden;
content: '';
width: 0;
height: 100%;
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
left: 50%;
background: #17C3B2;
transition: .5s ease;
display: block;
z-index: ;
}
button span {
position: absolute;
left: 0;
top: 0;
width: 10%;
height: 10%;
background: transparent;
z-index: 1;
}
button span::before {
content: "";
display: block;
position: absolute;
width: 8%;
height: 500%;
background: var(--lightgray);
top: 50%;
left: 50%;
transform: translate(-50%, -50%) rotate(-60deg);
transition: all 0.3s;
}
button:hover::before {
position: absolute;
transform: translate(-50%, -50%) rotate(44deg);
width: 100%;
}
button:hover {
color: #111;
}
<button>hover me
<span></span>
</button>
i have added overflow: hidden; to the button and z-index: -1; to button:hover::before
button {
padding: 0.9em 2em;
border: 2px solid #17C3B2;
position: absolute;
background-color: transparent;

transition: .3s;
display: block;
font-family: inherit;
color: #17C3B2;
z-index: 1;
overflow: hidden;
}
button::before {
overflow: hidden;
content: '';
width: 0;
height: 100%;
position: absolute;
top: 50%;
left: 50%;
background: #17C3B2;

}
button span {
position: absolute;

top: 0;
width: 10%;
height: 10%;
background: transparent;
z-index: 1;
}
button span::before {
content: "";
display: block;
position: absolute;
width: 8%;
height: 500%;
background: var(--lightgray);
top: 50%;
left: 50%;
transform: translate(-50%, -50%) rotate(-60deg);
transition: all 0.3s;
}
button:hover::before {
position: absolute;
transform: translate(-50%, -50%) rotate(44deg);
width: 100%;
z-index: -1;
}
button:hover {
color: #111;
}
<button>hover me
<span></span>

Issues with styling toggle switch in css/sass

I am having some issues I cannot seem to figure out with styling a toggle switch as required. I currently have it like this:
It however needs to look like this:
Here is my HTML:
<label class="switch"><input #handlingUnitAdvancedOptionsCheckBox id="handlingUnitAdvancedOptionsCheckBox" type="checkbox" [checked]="handlingModel.advancedOptions"
(change)="handlingUnitAdvancedOptionsToggle(handlingUnitAdvancedOptionsCheckBox.checked)" />
<span class="slider round"></span>
</label>
Here is my css:
/* The switch - the box around the slider */
.switch {
position: relative;
display: inline-block;
width: 50px!important;
height: 24px!important;
cursor: pointer;
}
/* Hide default HTML checkbox */
.switch input {
opacity: 0;
width: 0;
height: 0;
}
/* The slider */
.slider {
position: absolute;
cursor: pointer;
top: 0;
left: 0;
right: 0;
bottom: 0;
background-color: #ccc;
-webkit-transition: .4s;
transition: .4s;
}
.slider:before {
display: block;
width: 22px!important;
height: 22px!important;
margin: 1px;
background: #fff;
position: absolute;
top: 0;
bottom: 0;
right: 26px;
border-radius: 20px;
transition: margin .3s ease-in 0s;
transition-property: margin;
transition-duration: 0.3s;
transition-timing-function: ease-in;
transition-delay: 0s;
box-shadow: 1px 2px 7px #444;
}
input:checked + .slider {
background-color: #236093;
}
input:focus + .slider {
box-shadow: 0 0 1px #236093;
}
input:checked + .slider:before {
-webkit-transform: translateX(26px);
-ms-transform: translateX(26px);
transform: translateX(26px);
}
/* Rounded sliders */
.slider.round {
border-radius: 20px;
}
.slider.round:before {
border-radius: 50%;
}
Not sure where I am going wrong here or what I need to adjust. I have tried changing the transform and the padding but I cannot seem to get it right.
You can use the following solution:
.switch {
cursor: pointer;
display: inline-block;
height: 24px;
position: relative;
width: 50px;
overflow:hidden;
}
.switch input {
height: 0;
opacity: 0;
width: 0;
}
.slider {
background: #ccc;
bottom: 0;
cursor: pointer;
display: block;
left: 0;
position: absolute;
right: 0;
top: 0;
-webkit-transition: .4s;
transition: .4s;
}
.slider:before {
background: #fff;
border-radius: 50%;
bottom: 1px;
box-shadow: 3px 0px 7px #444;
content: "";
display: block;
height: 22px;
left: 1px;
position: absolute;
right: 50px;
top: 1px;
width: 22px;
transition-property: all;
transition-duration: .6s;
}
input:checked + .slider {
background: #236093;
}
input:checked + .slider:before {
box-shadow: -3px 0px 7px #002551;
left: calc(100% - 23px); /** width of .slider:before + 1px */
}
.slider.round {
border-radius: 24px;
}
<label class="switch">
<input #handlingUnitAdvancedOptionsCheckBox id="handlingUnitAdvancedOptionsCheckBox" type="checkbox" [checked]="handlingModel.advancedOptions"
(change)="handlingUnitAdvancedOptionsToggle(handlingUnitAdvancedOptionsCheckBox.checked)" />
<span class="slider round"></span>
</label>

visually merge borders around two separate divs so they look as one

I have two boxes one on top and one on left.
I'm using :after attribute to add line (border) after div.
First thing I want to do is to "join" both red borders.Right now there is empty gap between them, but if I change #toolbar::after left to '15px' I get that unwanted green line between red lines - can this be fixed?
Another thing is hovering over sidebar. After I move mouse cursor over sidebar it is moving to left:0, but border around toolbar isn't moving. Can I modify toolbar border after I hover over sidebar?
Below is sample code that illustrates my problem
html {
background: #e6e6e6;
}
#sidebar, #toolbar {
position: fixed;
top: 0;
left: 0;
}
#toolbar {
z-index: 102;
height: 50px;
right: 0;
text-shadow: 0 -1px 0 #000000;
background: #222222;
}
#sidebar {
z-index: 103;
bottom: 0;
width: 80px;
margin-top: 50px;
background: black;
left: -60px;
transition: all 0.2s ease;
transform: translateZ(0);
}
#sidebar:hover {
left: 0;
}
#sidebar::after {
content:'';
bottom: 0;
width: 4px;
position: absolute;
right: 0px;
top: 0;
display: block;
border-right: 1px solid green;
background: red;
-webkit-box-sizing: initial;
;
}
#toolbar::after {
content:'';
right: 0;
height: 4px;
position: absolute;
left: 20px;
bottom: 0;
display: block;
border-bottom: 1px solid green;
background: red;
-webkit-box-sizing: initial;
;
}
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.4/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet"/>
<div id="toolbar"></div>
<div id="sidebar"></div>
You can use box-shadow instead of a border box-shadow: 5px 1px 0px 0px green;
Note :- I have changed the html structure for the pseudo element to move to left when hovered on sidebar
html {
background: #e6e6e6;
}
#sidebar,
#toolbar {
position: fixed;
top: 0;
left: 0;
}
#toolbar {
z-index: 102;
height: 50px;
right: 0;
text-shadow: 0 -1px 0 #000000;
background: #222222;
}
#sidebar {
z-index: 103;
bottom: 0;
width: 80px;
margin-top: 50px;
background: black;
left: -60px;
transition: all 0.2s ease;
transform: translateZ(0);
}
#sidebar:hover {
left: 0;
}
#sidebar::after {
content: '';
bottom: 0;
width: 4px;
position: absolute;
right: 0px;
top: 0;
display: block;
border-right: 1px solid green;
background: red;
-webkit-box-sizing: initial;
;
}
#toolbar::after {
content: '';
right: 0;
height: 4px;
position: absolute;
left: 15px;
bottom: 0;
display: block;
background: red;
-webkit-box-sizing: initial;
box-shadow: 5px 1px 0px 0px green;
transition: all 0.2s ease;
}
#sidebar:hover + #toolbar::after {
left: 75px;
}
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.4/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" />
<div id="sidebar"></div>
<div id="toolbar"></div>
