How to insert a reactive value into rhandsontable? - r

I'm trying to insert a reactive value, from a separate user input, into a table rendered using rhandsontable. An example code is posted at the bottom of this post. Immediately below is an image that best explains what I'm trying to do. Any recommendations for how to do this?

How to use Shiny inputs to Filter Datatable that has been edited?

I'm stumped on a three part process:
I'm trying to filter what is displayed to a dataTable via Shiny inputs (in the real app there would be dozens of these).
Then, I'd like to edit cell values in the DT.
Finally, I'd like to be able to change the filters and keep the edited cell values.
The example app below does 1 and 2, but not 3. After I make an edit AND click the only_johns checkbox, the dataTable displays the original data.
Any ideas would be appreciated!

So far you only update the diplay.df$data, but you need to update the original start.df$data. I've included this in my solution, to find the correct row irrespective of the current filtering, I've introduced the column row_id that is hidden in the DT. Also, I've simplified your code a bit.

Edit
Here is a version where the page gets not reset. The problem was that with the edited data, display.df$data was changed, which triggered the rerendering of output$userTable and this resetted the page. To circumvent this, I've added another reactive value that contains the edited data and don't change display.df anymore, it is only changed by changing the input filtering.

How to add comment to a reactive data table in shiny

This question is an extension of the question I posted: this question
I created a dataframe with 3 columns: num, id and val. I want my shiny app to do the following:
a dataframe dat is filtered by num column
select an value from id column from dat (selectInput).
add text comment in a text box (textInput)
click on an action button
A new column called comment is created in the data table, text comments are added to the comment column in the row where id equals the value selected.

Instead of using a reactive/eventReactive statement for df, it might be more natural to keep track of previously inputted comments in the Comment column using a reactiveVal object for df. See also the responses to this question: R Shiny: reactiveValues vs reactive. If you prefer to use a reactive/eventReactive statement for df it is probably better to work with a separate object to store previous input comments (instead of incorporating it into the reactive statement for df).

I think the thing is that you are trying to update a value through an observeEvent which is not good according to the documentation. ?observeEvent
Use observeEvent whenever you want to perform an action in response to an event. (Note that "recalculate a value" does not generally count as performing an action–see eventReactive for that.)

So you can either go with your reactive value or using eventReactive as stated in the doc.

In R Shiny, can one interactively highlight cells using DT::dataframe?

Using R Shiny and DT : can one easily highlight/unhighlight interactively cells ?
I have been looking at the DT input$dt_cell_clicked to catch the row and the column that is clicked. I plan to then store that value in another column to highlight conditionally to that value (TRUE/FALSE).
My question is : can one do better + quicker with another option/function ?

Shiny R: Modifying the variable class

I am trying to create a shiny-app that load data-set, present the variable list and their classes and allow the user to modify the class of a selected variable. In case you are interested:
Concerning your attempt: reactive() is a function and you called the output of the function by df()[, modify.row]. So in your code you try to change the output of the function, but that does not change the output of futures calls of that function.
Maybe it is easier to see in a simplified version:
mean(1:3) <- 1
The code can not change the mean function to output 1 in future. So thats what reactiveValues() help with :). Hope that helps!

Disable column editing in rhandsontable?
