Drupal 9 fatal error attempting to generate content with devel - drupal

I freshly installed Drupal 9.4.8 a few days ago. I was following the instructions on how to generate temporary content for testing from this video and received a fatal error. I need to know how to fix the error so I can generate some temporary content.
The steps to reproduce
1 Install devel module
Use composer to install the module. According to the docs this should work with Drupal 9.
composer require 'drupal/devel:^5.0'
In the drupal admin/modules control panel, install Devel and Devel Generate.
2 Go to drupal admin/config to generate content
visit admin/config and click Generate Content option. Select your desired content types -- in my case, custom Events and User Groups content types. I specified these settings:
generate 50 nodes
go back 1 year
2 words per title
All other settings are default.
Click Generate.
THIS PRODUCES THE PROBLEM
In my browser, all I see is this:
The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later.
I looked in the apache log and see this error message:
[Tue Nov 01 15:11:22.216372 2022] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 344518:tid 140018374911744] [client 127.0.0.1:39852] AH01071: Got error 'PHP message: Error: Class 'Drush\Utils\StringUtils' not found in /var/www/example/public/modules/contrib/devel/devel_generate/src/Plugin/DevelGenerate/ContentDevelGenerate.php on line 391 #0 /var/www/example/public/modules/contrib/devel/devel_generate/src/Form/DevelGenerateForm.php(95): Drupal\devel_generate\Plugin\DevelGenerate\ContentDevelGenerate->settingsFormValidate()\n#1 [internal function]: Drupal\devel_generate\Form\DevelGenerateForm->validateForm()\n#2 /var/www/example/public/core/lib/Drupal/Core/Form/FormValidator.php(82): call_user_func_array()\n#3 /var/www/example/public/core/lib/Drupal/Core/Form/FormValidator.php(275): Drupal\Core\Form\FormValidator->executeValidateHandlers()\n#4 /var/www/example/public/core/lib/Drupal/Core/Form/FormValidator.php(118): Drupal\Core\Form\FormValidator->doValidateForm()\n#5 /var/www/example/public/core/lib/Drupal/Core/Form/FormBuilder.php(588): Drupal\Core\Form\FormValidator->validateForm()\n#6 /var/www/example/public/core/lib/Drupal/Core/Form/FormBuilder.php(...', referer: http://example.com/admin/config/development/generate/content
I'm not at all sure, but it looks like there is some prerequisite expected by Devel which I do not have. I'd appreciate anyone telling me the best way to fix this fatal error.

As suggested by #BaldeBinos in comments, I installed drush using composer as described here. This involved connecting via CLI, switching my working directory to where I have drupal installed, and running a composer command:
cd /var/www/mydrupal
composer require drush/drush
This and downloads and installs various perhaps 20 archives, the last of which is drush/drush:

Looks like you have old repositories enabled in Installation Manager preferences, for which the installation files are missing.
Try below steps to resolve this issue:
If you can enable GUI, Open IM, go to File > preferences >
Repositories. Do a test connection for all enabled repositories and
uncheck/disable repositories that are not working/you no longer
read.
If you cannot enable GUI, there are 2 options
Modify com.ibm.cic.agent.core.prefs file in order to enable/disable repositories (default location in linux:
/var/ibm/InstallationManager/.settings/com.ibm.cic.agent.core.prefs)
Enable/Disable repositories using 'imcl -c' command line https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSDV2W_1.8.5/com.ibm.cic.agent.console.doc/topics/t_console_pref_repository.html#remove_rep
Once old repositories for which installation files are missing are disabled, try installing the fixpack again.

Any clues what could be going wrong?
This was happening because I had something in the 'Working Directory'. I just cleared the "Working directory" field. Before I had set it to the subfolder containing the .csproj file which was incorrect. The working directory should be the root.

Installing SystemML from MVN/GitHub?

SystemML is available on https://github.com/SparkTC/systemml
How do I get it started with? I am newbie to GitHub.
I created a directory in my Ubuntu and copied the POM.xml file - when I issued mvn clean package, I am getting the error:
mvn clean package

When I went to R and issued the following command on R 64 bit ver 3.1.1, I got error too:

The error message you received tells you what the problem is (formatting mine):
The project com.ibm.systemml:systemml-parent:5.2-SNAPSHOT (/home/vmuser/system-ml/pom.xml) has 1 error
Child module /home/vmuser/system-ml/system-ml of /home/vmuser/system-ml/pom.xml does not exist
You said:
I created a directory in my Ubuntu and copied the POM.xml file
You don't just need the pom.xml file; you need the whole project. Either git clone it or download the source as a zip and extract it, then run mvn clean package from the project directory.
git clone is a better option if you intend to modify the source code. It will give you some powerful tools for integrating upstream changes and for submitting your modifications to the parent project. If you just want to use the project as-is, either option should be fine.
SystemML became an Apache (incubating) project in November of 2015. Its main website is located at http://systemml.apache.org/. The project can now be found on GitHub at https://github.com/apache/incubator-systemml.
Probably the quickest way to get started with Apache SystemML is to download a pre-built release package from the Apache SystemML Downloads page (see the main website). Information about Apache SystemML can be found at the Apache SystemML Documentation site, which is linked to from the main site. This includes information about running SystemML in notebooks, on Spark, and on Hadoop.
If you would like to clone the SystemML repository and build it locally with Maven, instructions to do so can be found in the project README on GitHub.

Symfony Demo - unable to sign in

I have upload pushed a Symfony project (based on symfony-demo) to github, however since doing so, I am unable to log in to the demo application as either the demo user or admin - instead I get the the following:
Authentication request could not be processed due to a system problem.
I have tried the below code as the page advises if the users are not working:
php app/console doctrine:fixtures:load
However, when I submit this I get the following error:
[Doctrine\DBAL\Exception\DriverException]
An exception occured in driver: could not find driver
[Doctrine\DBAL\Driver\PDOException]
could not find driver
I then tried submitting the following in the hope it would fix the doctrine issue:
composer require doctrine/doctrine-fixtures-bundle
However this fed back the following:
Using version ^2.2 for doctrine/doctrine-fixtures-bundle
./composer.json has been updated
Loading composer repositories with package information
Updating dependencies (including require-dev)
Your requirements could not be resolved to an installable set of packages.
Problem 1
- The requested PHP extension ext-pdo_sqlite * is missing from your system.
Problem 2
- sensiolabs/security-checker v2.0.5 requires ext-curl * -> the requested PHP extension curl is missing from your system.
- sensiolabs/security-checker v2.0.5 requires ext-curl * -> the requested PHP extension curl is missing from your system.
- sensiolabs/security-checker v2.0.5 requires ext-curl * -> the requested PHP extension curl is missing from your system.
- Installation request for sensiolabs/security-checker == 2.0.5.0 -> satisfiable by sensiolabs/security-checker[v2.0.5].
Installation failed, reverting ./composer.json to its original content.
Type into your terminal php -m. Do you see curl?
If not, it's not installed. Depending on your distro you might do:
RHEL/Centos:
yum install php5_curl
Ubuntu/Debian:
apt-get install php5_curl
If not found, try one of the following: php_curl, php-curl, php5_curl or php5-curl. Less frequently there is 56 instead of 5. You could simplify by searching for curl and then looking over the list.
Not sure about other distros, but it should be similar.

Error after updating symfony/swiftmailer-bundle to 2.2.5

After updating symfony/swiftmailer-bundle to v2.2.5 with composer.phar update I get such error:

You should definitely use mailer service, as it's an alias to the correct swiftmailer service, regardless how it named. For example im v2.3.3 it's swiftmailer.mailer.default
But you have to use
$container->findDefinition('mailer');
which unlike getDefinition() also resolves aliases so if the $serviceId argument is an alias you will get the underlying definition.
The line that triggerd the error was:
$definition = $container->getDefinition('swiftmailer.mailer') ;
Error was caused by change of service name. Until 2.2.4 the name was
swiftmailer.mailer
and since 2.2.5 it is:
swiftmailer.mailer.abstract
I changed the line to:
$definition = $container->hasDefinition('swiftmailer.mailer') ? $container->getDefinition('swiftmailer.mailer') : $container->getDefinition('swiftmailer.mailer.abstract');
That fixed the error.
