For a Chinese or Japanese user, we all need to input text other than English. Therefore we have an icon on the menu bar to show what is the current input mode. There are 2 or more icon faces for our daily typing job. (for English, Chinese, another one for Chinese...)
If the menu bar is always visible, I can see the status of this icon. However, most of the time mac will hide it in seconds when my pointer(arrow shape) leaves the top edge.
Blindly starting to type, I usually have to delete a couple of times and type again w/ the right input mode.

My plan is to find the way to detect the status of the status icon, so that I can print such information on the status bar of my editor MacVim and always know what's the current input mode.
Every time we touch the CapsLock key, the input mode toggles with the icon image changing between [A] and [] for English and Chinese, respectively.
I have no clue about where I can get status icon's status in Mac system. Please help.

When I change my sort and open my Lightbox, it keeps the first choice
I got 3 sort popularity, title and date. When I open my Lightbox on the first, no problem, but when I choose the second or the third, I got the content of the first and the content of my choice is hidden. I can only see arrows to go right and left. I have tried to clean cache, clean local storage and prevent default when I close my Lightbox without success. I use JavaScript only for my Lightbox. It's an exercise for my study.

Not a complete solution but...
Uncheck the "Show Welcome Guide when opening Atom" checkbox and it will stop the "Welcome" and "Welcome Guide" tabs opening, also submit Telemetry Consent preferences and it will prevent the 3rd tab opening.
You will still need to hide the project pane but 1 click is better than 4 isn't it?
I'm trying to test the screenreader dialogue on my application for 508 compliance. It works mostly how it should except a problem I'm running into is when I navigate element to element the screenreader reads each keystroke like so "TAB" when I want to traverse through my application. How can I turn this off while testing? I'm running JAWS 17.
You can't and you shouldn't. Different verbosity settings like functional keys announcement, punctuation reading, repeated characters announcement, treatment of dialog controls and so on, and so forth, — all of these are entirely up to the screen reader and the user who adjusts these settings. Just like, for example, speech rate or pitch. As a JAWS user, I wouldn't be happy, and more than that, I would be angry if some app developer forced me to turn off my Tab announcement or changed my punctuation level.
Update: If you just want to turn off keystrokes announcement for yourself, do the following:
Press Insert+6 on the number row to go to JAWS Settings Center. You can do this from the JAWS main menu, but the single keystroke is much faster.
If you want to make your change by default for all apps, press Ctrl+Shift+D to open the default file.
In the search box type labels and search for Key Labels.
In the dialog that appears turn off the announcement for all of the keystrokes you don't want to hear. Note that if you mute Tab, all of the keystrokes like Shift+Tab and Ctrl+Tab will be muted automagically.
click OK several times to leave Settings Center and save your settings.
It's just a user setting options.
If you do that in your jaws, it's coild bé different for an other person !
Somewhere in the near future, an application I'm working on is going to its own pass to be stored in the user's passbook.
Since you cannot really test the passbook app from the watch in the simulator, and my watch will be arriving next month, I was hoping someone could shed some light..
I had a few questions about passbook for the apple watch..
Is it safe to assume the passes in passbook will automatically be
synced and added from the phone to the watch?
Are there any sort of visual guidelines when it comes to showing
passes on the apple watch? Does text automatically shrink? are things truncated? Are only certain fields appearing on the watch to conserve space?
Is it safe to assume if the user turns their wrist, the screen will
not shut off if a pass is currently being displayed?
Yes it automatically syncs.
Thus far I've noticed that the Pass is added to Apple Watch Passbook quite quickly after added in iPhone; although if you reorder the passes on the iPhone the order takes a little longer to sync on the Apple Watch view. (I haven't timed this under different scenarios but I'll test that and get back to you). Please note, I have >300 passes in Passbook so a 'typical consumer' may not experience the same.
Visual Guidelines.
The logo image remains at the top left of the Watch view of the Pass and automatically scales.
The strip or thumbnail image are removed from the Watch view. A background image (on an event ticket type) remains visible but is not scaled.
The header fields moves below the logo image (i.e. it is not to the right of the logo as it appears in the phone).
All other (text) fields appear on the watch view, but they are not side by side. The are presented in a 'list view' - separated by a fine line between each field. I have experienced some situations where the text length runs over one line (e.g. an email address i.e. no spaces between words) and it doesn't look so beautiful as the text does not resize to fit all on one line.
The pass automatically scales width-wise so it fits in the watch view but it is "longer" than the watch screen so you scroll the Pass up and down.
The pass length in the Watch app is dependent on the number of fields used in the Pass.
As you scroll to the QR code and tap on it, all other background colours and the 'close' link disappears and only the barcode is displayed. The square barcodes look significantly better. Of course redemption/scanning still works with the PDF417 barcode but it just doesn't look as nice in the watch view. It is presented in vertical format in the centre of the watch view, with black to the left and right of the PDF417 barcode.
Please note that there is no 'back view' on the apple watch pass. i.e. you cannot flip the pass to access the back of the pass as you can on the iPhone.
Screen shut off
The screen will not shut off only if the barcode has been selected (as described above). If you are just viewing the pass and have not selected the barcode the watch screen will shut off after time of no activity or if you turn your wrist.
If the barcode is selected, the barcode remains on the screen irrespective of wrist position and does not shut off over time.
Other - Lockscreen notifications / convenience.
Works the same as iPhone when in proximity to an associated GPS location or beacon or following a push update.
The pass can be accessed by tapping on the notification (i.e. no need to open the Passbook app on the watch) and can also be accessed by a swipe down to notifications. A 'small pass' is displayed in notifications. The 'small pass' is the same width as the watch face, and about half the height (same as other notifications). It consists of the logo image, inherits the background colour of the Pass, and includes the pass description field (when in proximity) or the updated field (when pushing an update).
In the address bar of the browser navigation tab, it shows the absolute path of the file, but it is so long that it gets truncated and I can't read the exact file that I'm working on! Is there any way to fix this?
Yeah, I got it... just hover your mouse over the truncated field for a couple seconds and a tooltip will pop up with the full address. I was just frantically clicking on it like an impatient moron and it was canceling the scheduled tooltip display.
I'm not sure what a "browser navigation tab" is. In Dreamweaver CS5 on Windows, the full url is displayed in the title bar of the document. When documents are maximized a tab will display the file name, and the full file url will display in the title bar on the right hand side. This full url gets truncated when there are too many documents open. The truncation is done from the left so you may lose some of the folders, but you should still see the file name. If this is the case, then a quick solution is to close some documents. Or Perhaps don't nest your files so deeply, or don't have really long file/folder names.
Another option is an extension that I wrote a while ago called Document Path Toolbar: http://communitymx.com/abstract.cfm?cid=A01CEAEA3CA40B36 The extension adds a toolbar that has a text field that displays the full url to the local file. It has an option that allows you to updated the width of the text field if you have longer file paths (I think that such modifications requires a restart of Dreamweaver). It is commercial but not much. As I no longer contribute to CommunityMX, I won't receive anything for a purchase should you decide it is something that you could benefit from.
