I have had problems uploading the following file to Tableau:
https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/shivamb/netflix-shows/download
When loaded it looks like this
but loading it in R
Is it possible to load them in R and then by Rserve connect to tableau or is there a way to load them fine
Looks like a problem within the interpreter.
I can't download the file myself as I don't have a Kaggle account, and its not clear from you R screenshots, though you could adjust the text file properties to see if you can adjust how the interpreter works by right-mouse the object "netflix_titles.csv" in the data model window and selecting Text file properties from the context menu.
Another option would be to try to use the interpreter Usar el intérprete de datos
It looks like Tableau is reading this file as a Text file and not a CSV. Tableau should have multiple headers for every comma that it sees but your screenshot has a single column for the entire first row.
Sometimes, Tableau can correctly read the file if you check the "Use Data Interpreter" checkbox.
If you have trouble making that work, just simply open the CSV in Excel and save it as an XLSX. You could even connect to it via an import to Google Sheets if you don't have Excel.

I am trying to write to an excel file that needs to be uploaded somewhere. The target software creates an excel file which has an XML map attached to it. I recreated the entire file structure in R using code, but any time I try to write to that excel file, i think R actually deletes the old file and creates a new one instead, because the XML map is gone the moment I start writing any data to it. Loading up the workbook also doesn't seem to bring in the xml map, only the workbook data and sheets.
Is there a way to write data to this existing file within R (or python) without losing the XML map? Now i need to generate a file and manually copy paste the data into the other excel file.
I've been trying with xlsx, readxl, xml2 packages.
In the past Ive deal with a similar problem. To my knowledge, almost all the R packages that interact with excel replace the entire file with a new one. Except the openxlsx package. You can replace specific sheets, and range of cells, whitout touching the rest (data, styling , etc..). One last comment is that I dont know much about XLM maps, but maybe you are lucky.
Here is the vignette:

Hope it helps
I'm trying to open an Excel CSV file within R Studio but I get this error:
Error Is this a valid CSV file? embedded nul in the string: 'C\0a\0m\0p\0a\0g\0n\0e\0_\0N\0o\0C\0a\0r\0a\0v\0a\0g\0g\0i\0o\0_\0C\0o\0s\0t\0o\0>\00'
the file is generated automatically by the Google Ads platform as Excel csv and it works normally with Excel but in order to open it on R Studio I have to convert it as .xlsx
is there a way to bypass this or to convert the file without opening it?
otherwise the script which is based upon this file needs a manual passage to convert the source file
What function are you using to open it? Check your file and see if you have other commas within a column value; this may confuse the function. Also, it is worth trying to use the "Import dataset" option in the environment window within Rstudio. Try to use the readr option and adjust your import options until you have it correct. Check the package RAdwords maybe you can extract your Google Ads information without the CSV exporting step.
Due to a stupid mistake and a defective USB stick I lost a bunch of data and I am now trying to recover it.
Some of the the data is still displayed in the Viewer tabs when I open RStudio. However, I can only save R Scripts and R Markdownfiles out of the Viewer. The displayed data frames are nice and complete, I can sort and filter them in the Viewer, however, I cannot find a "save" option. Is there a possibility to save this displayed data into Rdata or csv or something similar?
I would suggest three different approaches, but none of them will necessarily work. I sort them according to my prior expectations of success.
1) You can copy all your data frame from the viewer and paste it into an external spreadsheet software to obtain a .csv file. E.g. through the "convert text to columns" button in MS Excel.
2) You can copy and paste the character string into an object that is passed to the text option of read.table or to dput(). Check out the "Copy your data" section of this famous SO question
3) Finally, you can get google Chrome's "Inspect Element" function to inspect the html code of the object in the viewer. Once you find the table you can copy paste and scrape with an html parser, e.g. using the rvest package. Good luck!
Thanks everybody, there is a way to access the data as Rdata files, which was kindly explained to me here
I used the second method and located the files in %localappdata%\RStudio-Desktop\viewer-cache.
I have no internet connection and I just want to make a program using the library twitteR of R. For that purpose I have downloaded the file rdmTweets.RData that it is supposed to hold a collection of twitters. That file is available in: http://www.rdatamining.com/data
I have try to read that file using:
rdmTweets<-userTimeline("rdmTweets.RData",n=200)
also converting directly to a data frame:
df<-do.call("rbind",lapply("rdmTweets.RData",as.data.frame)
but, with no results at all. I mean it does not show any information of the twitters. I tried to read it like a file with:
rdm<-file("rdmTweets.RData","r")
lines<-readLines(rdm)
also with no results. It seems the only way that I can access that file is when I have:
rdmTweets<-userTimeline("rdatamining",n=200)
but that means to have an active internet connection. So the question that I have is how I can read that file in a way that I can get its contents like if I use userTimeline?
Thanks
To read a RData file, you need to use load().
Run the code below. The 1st line loads a data object rdmTweets from file, and the 2nd converts it into a data frame. You also need to have package twitteR installed.
load("rdmTweets.RData")
df <- do.call("rbind", lapply(rdmTweets, as.data.frame))
I have a Flex application with a couple of DataGrids with data. I'd like to save the data to a file so that the user can keep working with them in Excel, OpenOffice or Numbers.
I'm currently writing a csv file straight off, which opens well in OpenOffice or Numbers, but not in Excel. The problem is with the Swedish characters ÅÄÖ, which turn up as other characters when opening in Excel. Converting (in Notepad++) the csv-file to ANSI encoding makes the ÅÄÖ show up correctly in Excel.
Is there any way to write ANSI-encoded files straight from Flex?
Any other options for writing a file that can be opened in Excel and OpenOffice?
(I've looked at the as3xls library, but according to the comments those files cannot be opened in OpenOffice)
Using the writeMultiByte function from the ByteArray class allows you to specify a character set. See :
http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/utils/ByteArray.html#writeMultiByte%28%29
There is also the option of the as3xls package at http://code.google.com/p/as3xls/. I like this as it comes out as a straight excel file that can also be easily opened in open office as well.
