Print selected rows in Symfony EasyAdmin CRUD - symfony

I'm learning Symfony and EasyAdmin, my next task on the list is to add a button which will print (generate PDF) selected rows from the table. I've checked in the EasyAdmin docs if there maybe is a tutorial or more info, but without luck. https://symfony.com/bundles/EasyAdminBundle/current/crud.html
How I should approach it? Is there a method I should use or a bundle?
I've found this thread:
PDF document creation EasyAdmin symfony 5 But no one replied. There is not much info regarding this matter.
Symfony 5.4, EasyAdmin 4

I think that you should create a customs actions for this.
Let say that you have setup a ProductCrudController class. In that class, you will have to override this :
public function configureActions(Actions $actions): Actions
{
$viewProductInPDFFormat = Action::new('viewPDF', 'View in PDF', 'fa fa-file-pdf-o')
->linkToRoute('name_of_route_that_generate_pdf_on_one_product',
function (Product $product): array {
return [
'id' => $product->getId(),
];
});
return $actions
//will add the action in the page index view
->add(Crud::PAGE_INDEX, $viewProductInPDFFormat)
//will add the action in the page detail view
->add(Crud::PAGE_DETAIL, $viewProductInPDFFormat)
;
}

EasyaAmin 3 - Hide/Show actions dynamically based on the underlying entity

Is there any way to show/hide actions based on the underlying entity? For example, I need to show the delete action of a Category entity if and only if it doesn't have any children post.
I tried to remove that from configureActions method in my CRUD controller, but I haven't access to the AdminContext object when that method is being called.
How can I do that?
After tracing in EasyAdmin's code base I found this solution:
Consider I have a Category entity with a OneToMany relation to posts. I need to show delete action of each category if the category doesn't have any post.
public function configureActions(Actions $actions): Actions
{
$action = parent::configureActions($actions)->getAsDto(Crud::PAGE_INDEX)->getAction(Crud::PAGE_INDEX, Action::DELETE);
if (!\is_null($action)) {
$action->setDisplayCallable(function (Category $category) {
return $category->getPosts()->count() === 0;
});
}
return $actions;
}

Sonata how make autocomplete filter on current entity property

I'm working on a sf2 project using Sonata Admin Bundle.
The project is a Donations website for humanitarian mission.
I have a 'Personne' entity, represent benefactors (donation makers).
My problem is the following:
I have to filter results in the sonata list view using autocompletion.
I want filter results using the 'name' property of the current entity ('Personne').
What I'm expecting :
$datagridMapper
->add('personne', 'doctrine_orm_model_autocomplete',
array('label' => 'AutoComplete'),
null,
array('property' => 'name'))
// error output : " The option `association_mapping` must be set for field: `personne` "
You can see my full admin class and entity on this gist :
https://gist.github.com/chalasr/0658a02b1c04180f5563
I understand this field type is reserved to entity associations (by example I already use it for filter results of my Donation entity by Personne name (other admin class).
My question is :
Is it possible to do what I need ?
If I can't do that using this field type, what is the right way to achieve this task ?
Thank's for your help.
After a lot of tests, it seems this functionality isn't yet provided by Sonata.
So, I had build an homemade autocomplete method in my admin controller and used it as ajax in my overridden CRUD:list.html.twig template.
This method takes field name, other autocomplete fields values, and keyword as parameters and reload results on keyup event.
You can look on this gist:
https://gist.github.com/chalasr/5c27ae64dc596967f18a
If you have an idea/proposition for optimize my code (simple autocomplete field type for $formMapper ?), I'm really interested.
Well it's possible to make a choice field and use integrated select2 to handle autocomplete, I don't know how well it would fare with large tables though.
$datagridMapper
->add('personne','doctrine_orm_callback', array(
'callback' => array($this, 'filterByName'),
'field_type' => 'text',
), 'entity',array(
'class' => 'AppBundle\Entity\Personne',
'choice_label' => 'name'
))
We add 'doctrine_orm_callback' because regular string filter can't handle EntityType Field, so we need to do it ourselves.
public function filterByName($queryBuilder, $alias, $field, $value)
{
if (!$value['value']) {
return;
}
$queryBuilder
->andWhere($alias . '.name' . ' = ' . ':name' )
->setParameter('name' , $value['value']->getName());
return true;
}
1 more thing, select2 won't create autocomplete (search) box if dropdown box has less than 10 choices, because it's set up in Admin.js that way.
select.select2({
width: function(){
// Select2 v3 and v4 BC. If window.Select2 is defined, then the v3 is installed.
// NEXT_MAJOR: Remove Select2 v3 support.
return Admin.get_select2_width(window.Select2 ? this.element : jQuery(this));
},
dropdownAutoWidth: true,
minimumResultsForSearch: 10,
allowClear: allowClearEnabled
});
so you need to override it, if you want that to be less.
Fonctionnality is now bundled with Sonata as simple as:
$filter->add('label', ModelFilter::class, ['field_type'=>ModelAutocompleteType::class,'field_options' => ['property' => 'name']])

Get data in twig function

Is it bad practice to get data from db in twig function or I should pass it to view in controller?
My function is some kind of interface widget that is used on all pages of site admin section. Then on data change I will have to make changes in all actions. But when I get data directly in extension class our teamlead tells that it's bad MVC.
It would be best if you pass it to a view from a controller.
Your team leader is right. What you can do is create an action specific to render that widget. I.e create a custom widget, let's say you want to show the number of current active users:
class WidgetController extends Controller
{
public function usersCountWidgetAction()
{
return $this->render('widget/usersCount.html.twig', array(
"usersCount" => $this->getUsersCount();
));
}
public function getUsersCount()
{
// call the manager and get the result
}
}
Now in all your other twigs you can use
{{ render(controller('AppBundle:Widget:usersCountWidget')) }}

Silverstripe tumblr-like Post Types

I am trying to create a back-end interface for silverstripe that gives the CMS user the option to choose between a set of Post Types (like tumblr) in Silverstripe3. So they can choose to create a News Post, Video Post, Gallery Post, etc.
I initially started off giving all Posts the necessary fields for each Type and adding an enum field that allowed the user to choose the Post Type. I then used the forTemplate method to set the template dependent upon which Post Type was chosen.
class Post extends DataObject {
static $db = array(
'Title' => 'Varchar(255),
'Entry' => 'HTMLText',
'Type' => 'enum('Video, Photo, Gallery, Music')
);
static $many_many = array(
'Videos' => 'SiteVideo',
'Photos' => 'SitePhoto,
'Songs' => 'SiteMp3'
);
public function forTemplate() {
switch ($this->Type) {
case 'Video':
return $this->renderWith('VideoPost');
break;
case 'Photo':
return $this->renderWith('ImagePost');
break;
etc...
}
function getCMSFields($params=null) {
$fields = parent::getCMSFields($params);
...
$videosField = new GridField(
'Videos',
'Videos',
$this->Videos()->sort('SortOrder'),
$gridFieldConfig
);
$fields->addFieldToTab('Root.Videos', $photosField);
$photosField = new GridField(
'Photos',
'Photos',
$this->Photos()->sort('SortOrder'),
$gridFieldConfig
);
$fields->addFieldToTab('Root.Videos', $photosField);
return $fields;
}
}
I would rather the user be able to choose the Post Type in the backend and only the appropriate tabs show up. So if you choose Video, only the Video GridField tab would show up. If you choose Photo Type only the Photo's GridField would show.Then I would like to be able to call something like
public function PostList() {
Posts::get()
}
and be able to output all PostTypes sorted by date.
Does anyone know how this might be accomplished? Thanks.
Well the first part can be accomplished using javascript. Check out this tutorial and the docs let me know if you have questions on it.
The second part would be trickier but I think you could do something with the page controller. Include a method that outputs a different template based on the enum value but you would have to set links somewhere.
I managed this with DataObjectManager in 2.4.7 as I had numerous DataObjects and all were included in one page but I'm not sure if that is feasible in SS3.
return $this->renderWith(array('CustomTemplate'));
This line of code will output the page using a different template. You need to include it in a method and then call that method when the appropriate link is clicked.

Drupal Views exposed filter of Author name as a drop down

This is a follow up question to Drupal Views exposed filter of Author name. The following question was answered and works. I can filter a view by user name. The user name is entered is entered by typing in a box and the box then auto completes. Rather then doing this I would like the list of users as a drop down. I only need one user to be selected. Do you know if this is possible?
You'll need a custom module for that.
I've done this for Drupal 7 this way: create a module, say, views_more_filters, so you have a views_more_filters.info file like this:
name = Views More Filters
description = Additional filters for Views.
core = 7.x
files[] = views_more_filters_handler_filter_author_select.inc
files[] = views_more_filters.views.inc
(file views_more_filters_handler_filter_author_select.inc will contain our filter handler).
A basic views_more_filters.module file:
<?php
/**
* Implements of hook_views_api().
*/
function views_more_filters_views_api() {
return array('api' => 3);
}
Then define your filter in views_more_filters.views.inc:
<?php
/**
* Implements of hook_views_data().
*/
function views_more_filters_views_data() {
return array(
'node' => array(
'author_select' => array(
'group' => t('Content'),
'title' => t('Author UID (select list)'),
'help' => t('Filter by author, choosing from dropdown list.'),
'filter' => array('handler' => 'views_more_filters_handler_filter_author_select'),
'real field' => 'uid',
)
)
);
}
Note that we set author_select as a machine name of the filter, defined filter handler ('handler' => 'views_more_filters_handler_filter_author_select') and a field we will filter by ('real field' => 'uid').
Now we need to implement our filter handler. As our filter functions just like default views_handler_filter_in_operator, we simply extend its class in views_more_filters_handler_filter_author_select.inc file:
<?php
/**
* My custom filter handler
*/
class views_more_filters_handler_filter_author_select extends views_handler_filter_in_operator {
/**
* Override parent get_value_options() function.
*
* #return
* Return the stored values in $this->value_options if someone expects it.
*/
function get_value_options() {
$users_list = entity_load('user');
foreach ($users_list as $user) {
$users[$user->uid] = $user->name;
}
// We don't need Guest user here, so remove it.
unset($users[0]);
// Sort by username.
natsort($users);
$this->value_options = $users;
return $users;
}
}
We haven't had to do much here: just populate options array with a list of our users, the rest is handled by parent class.

Tutorial: Creating Custom Filters in Views
Yes, this is possible. Its not particularly tough to do this... but its slightly tedious. You need to create two views
The first view is a list of users on your system (a View of type Users). This user list is displayed as a dropdown instead of a list (using jump menu view style). Clicking on any user within this dropdown will call the second view with the uid (user id) of the selected user as the argument in the URL. This view is a block.
The second view is a simple Node listing. It is a page view at a particular URL. It takes 1 argument which is the uid (user id) of the user.
Detailed Steps
Download the Ctools module
http://drupal.org/project/ctools
Enable the Chaos Tools Module. This
module provides a Views Style Plugin
called "Jump Menu"
Create a new view of type Users and NOT type Node which you usually
create. In the fields add User:
Name and User: uid. For the
settings of User: uid, make sure
you click on Rewrite the output of
the field. The rewritten output of
the field should be
my_node_list/[uid]. Make sure you
select the exclude from display checkbox.
In the settings for Style in the view, select the Jump Menu style. Click on the settings for the style. Make sure the Path dropdown has User: uid choosen
Add a block display to the view. Name the block User Drop Down
Save the view
Add the block User Drop Down to any region in your theme e.g. Content Top (usually the best) or left sidebar. Make sure the block is only visible at the urls my_node_list/* and my_node_list by setting the block visibility settings
Now create another view of type Node. Add an argument field User: uid. Add the fields you are interested in e.g. Node: title, User: Name etc.
Add a page display. Let the page be at the url my_node_list
Save the view. Test the dropdown with its list of users on the system at http://yoursitename/my_node_list

I think you just have to choose "Taxonomy:term The taxonomy term ID" instead of "name".
