I've tried to change the WEB CONFIG to the following per older questions but it's still now working. -
<system.webServer>
<handlers>
<remove name="WebDAV"/>
<remove name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-Integrated-4.0"/>
<remove name="OPTIONSVerbHandler"/>
<remove name="TRACEVerbHandler"/>
<add name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-Integrated-4.0" path="*." verb="*" type="System.Web.Handlers.TransferRequestHandler"
preCondition="integratedMode,runtimeVersionv4.0"/>
</handlers>
<modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true">
<remove name="WebDAVModule"/>
</modules>
</system.webServer>
Any suggestions?
Thank in advance

I know this is an old question and asked many times before. But believe me I've tried them all and found no resolution.
And my web.config looks like :-
<system.web>
<authentication mode="None" />
<compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.6.1" />
<httpRuntime targetFramework="4.6.1" maxRequestLength="512000" />
</system.web>
<system.webServer>
<security>
<requestFiltering>
<requestLimits maxAllowedContentLength="52428800" />
</requestFiltering>
</security>
<modules>
<remove name="FormsAuthentication" />
</modules>
<handlers>
<remove name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-Integrated-4.0" />
<remove name="OPTIONSVerbHandler" />
<remove name="TRACEVerbHandler" />
<add name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-Integrated-4.0" path="*." verb="*" type="System.Web.Handlers.TransferRequestHandler" preCondition="integratedMode,runtimeVersionv4.0" />
</handlers>
</system.webServer>
Uploading a file of around 72 MB is popping up me this error - "Web server to deny the request because the content length exceeds the configured value."
PS:- Using IIS7.
I have created a .Net project 4.6 using web api.
just for simplicity purpose, I created default.htm in the parent directory. I publish my project to localhost, and set up the default document to default.htm as per the screenshot:
published web.config:
<system.web>
<authentication mode="None" />
<compilation targetFramework="4.6" />
<httpRuntime targetFramework="4.5.2" />
<httpModules>
<add name="ApplicationInsightsWebTracking" type="Microsoft.ApplicationInsights.Web.ApplicationInsightsHttpModule, Microsoft.AI.Web" />
</httpModules>
<customErrors mode="Off" />
</system.web>
<system.webServer>
<modules>
<remove name="FormsAuthentication" />
<remove name="ApplicationInsightsWebTracking" />
<add name="ApplicationInsightsWebTracking" type="Microsoft.ApplicationInsights.Web.ApplicationInsightsHttpModule, Microsoft.AI.Web" preCondition="managedHandler" />
</modules>
<handlers>
<remove name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-Integrated-4.0" />
<remove name="OPTIONSVerbHandler" />
<remove name="TRACEVerbHandler" />
<add name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-Integrated-4.0" path="*." verb="*" type="System.Web.Handlers.TransferRequestHandler" preCondition="integratedMode,runtimeVersionv4.0" />
</handlers>
<validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false" />
</system.webServer>
However, whenever I navigate to http://localhost/, it always returns 404 as per the screenshot below: Can someone please help? Thanks
I am using port 80:
All published Web Site in IIS need to have a port like this:
1.Assuming you are using the port of 8462.
2.Try to navigate this url = localhost:8462
Make sure your asp.net has been registered to your IIS like this aspnet_regiis -i
Good Luck!
I am trying to implement static files cache in the ASP.net mvc application.
What i did:
I've added into Content folder a web.config file with the following content:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<configuration>
<system.webServer>
<staticContent>
<clientCache cacheControlCustom="public" cacheControlMode="UseMaxAge" cacheControlMaxAge="300.0:00:00" />
</staticContent>
</system.webServer>
</configuration>
In the website web.config file, i commented out some lines of code:
<system.webServer>
<validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false" />
<handlers>
<remove name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-ISAPI-4.0_32bit" />
<remove name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-ISAPI-4.0_64bit" />
<remove name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-Integrated-4.0" />
<add name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-ISAPI-4.0_32bit" path="*." verb="GET,HEAD,POST,DEBUG,PUT,DELETE,PATCH,OPTIONS" modules="IsapiModule" scriptProcessor="%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_isapi.dll" preCondition="classicMode,runtimeVersionv4.0,bitness32" responseBufferLimit="0" />
<add name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-ISAPI-4.0_64bit" path="*." verb="GET,HEAD,POST,DEBUG,PUT,DELETE,PATCH,OPTIONS" modules="IsapiModule" scriptProcessor="%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_isapi.dll" preCondition="classicMode,runtimeVersionv4.0,bitness64" responseBufferLimit="0" />
<add name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-Integrated-4.0" path="*." verb="GET,HEAD,POST,DEBUG,PUT,DELETE,PATCH,OPTIONS" type="System.Web.Handlers.TransferRequestHandler" preCondition="integratedMode,runtimeVersionv4.0" />
<!-- Commented them out
<add verb="GET" path="*.js" name="Static for js" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" />
<add verb="GET" path="*.css" name="Static for css" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" />
<add verb="GET" path="*.png" name="Static for png" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" />
<add verb="GET" path="*.jpg" name="Static for jpg" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" />
-->
</handlers>
Now, publishing the website and inspecting the resources, i get the folowing response:
I see is missing the Expire header ?! (shouldn't it be there in order for cache to work)
Does the response headers tell the browser to cache the resource for the next 25920000 seconds?
I am doing things correctly in order to cache the static files?
This is correct, and you should be fine.
Some might say you should add Expires, too, for clients which do not understand HTTP/1.1, but as already argued in the first linked article, that shouldn't be a real concern, even less now, 7 years later.
I am trying to make Asp.net website to cache static files to the browser client.
I followed these steps
My web config:
<configuration>
<!-- elements removed for readability -->
<location path="content">
<system.webServer>
<staticContent>
<clientCache cacheControlMode="UseMaxAge" cacheControlMaxAge="100:00:00" />
</staticContent>
</system.webServer>
</location>
</configuration>
However, requesting a js file from the Content folder does not cache the file:
What i am doing wrong? I really need to fix this problem.
Removing System.Web.StaticFileHandler configurations from web.config fixed the issue, but i don't know if this is the correct way to solve the problem:
<system.webServer>
<validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false" />
<handlers>
<remove name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-ISAPI-4.0_32bit" />
<remove name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-ISAPI-4.0_64bit" />
<remove name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-Integrated-4.0" />
<add name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-ISAPI-4.0_32bit" path="*." verb="GET,HEAD,POST,DEBUG,PUT,DELETE,PATCH,OPTIONS" modules="IsapiModule" scriptProcessor="%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_isapi.dll" preCondition="classicMode,runtimeVersionv4.0,bitness32" responseBufferLimit="0" />
<add name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-ISAPI-4.0_64bit" path="*." verb="GET,HEAD,POST,DEBUG,PUT,DELETE,PATCH,OPTIONS" modules="IsapiModule" scriptProcessor="%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_isapi.dll" preCondition="classicMode,runtimeVersionv4.0,bitness64" responseBufferLimit="0" />
<add name="ExtensionlessUrlHandler-Integrated-4.0" path="*." verb="GET,HEAD,POST,DEBUG,PUT,DELETE,PATCH,OPTIONS" type="System.Web.Handlers.TransferRequestHandler" preCondition="integratedMode,runtimeVersionv4.0" />
<!-- Removing these rules makes the cache to work.
With them, it doesn't work
<add verb="GET" path="*.js" name="Static for js" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" />
<add verb="GET" path="*.css" name="Static for css" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" />
<add verb="GET" path="*.png" name="Static for png" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" />
<add verb="GET" path="*.jpg" name="Static for jpg" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" />
-->
</handlers>
<staticContent>
<clientCache cacheControlMode="UseMaxAge" cacheControlMaxAge="100:00:00" />
</staticContent>
</system.webServer>
I use a custom HttpHandler in .NET for all *.html files, however I want to create a single exception for the file foo.html, which should be handled as a static file on the hard drive. I've tried:
<httpHandlers>
<remove verb="*" path="*.html" />
<add verb="*" path="/foo.html" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" />
<add verb="*" path="*.html" validate="false" type="Imp.Handler" />
</httpHandlers>
As well as:
<httpHandlers>
<remove verb="*" path="*.html" />
<add verb="*" path="*.html" validate="false" type="Imp.Handler" />
<add verb="*" path="/foo.html" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" />
</httpHandlers>
However, both will cause Imp.Handler to handle foo.html requests still. What am I doing wrong?
IIS is running in Classic mode.
may be this method can help you,move the files to the other folder and disable httphandler for this folder.
<location allowOverride="false" path="Static">
<system.web>
<httpHandlers>
<remove verb="*" path="*.htm"/>
<!--<add verb="*" path="/foo.htm" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" />-->
</httpHandlers>
</system.web>
</location>
<httpHandlers>
<add verb="*" path="*.html" validate="false" type="Imp.Handler" />
</httpHandlers>
i trying test this,the question is :
if i remove HttpHandler for the "*.html" in the location element,and add a other httphandler will doesn't worked.for example:
<location>
<remove verb="*" path="*.htm"/>
<add verb="*" path="foo.html" validate="false" type="Imp.Handler" />
</location>
