How to get a specific user data with the help of uid? - firebase

My question is based on this one:
Retrieve specific user data from firebase in flutter.
There is answer how to get user data using user id, but I don't know how to get some specific user data, e.g. how to get name or age.
Summary:
Every user has unique id and name, age, address.
I have user id and I want to get another user data, e.g. I want to get name of that user. How?

Create a collection named users,this collection will have many documents by the name of userIds, each document will have Map-like structure e.g. "name":string, 'age":int, 'address':string . Since you have the id from firebase login , just DocumentSnapshot document = await Firestore.instance.collection("/userdata").document("uid").get();
From there you could construct your user class or use document['name'] immediately

If what you mean is that you would like to make something like SELECT x,y,z i have to say you cannot..
You have to first retreive the document by its uniqueId then you can read specifica data

How to store additional data in Flutter and firebase Authentication method

Good Morning,
I have a simple query, I am using firebase Authentication as a sign-in/ signup method to my flutter app, what is the right method if I want to store additional data, such as name, age and etc...
If you look at the class User that is defined in User.dart for instance that ships with the Firebase SDK for Flutter, you'll see various properties of the User class, including but not limited to:
String? get displayName
String? get email
bool get emailVerified
bool get isAnonymous
UserMetadata get metadata
You might see the metadata property and think Aha! Maybe I can put my extra data there, but if you look at that class' properties and code you'll soon realize that it's not going to allow you to store additional properties in it either.
So the User in Firebase is not the right place to store additional information about that user itself! That's the take-away I want you to get from this answer.
The right way to go about doing this is to store your additional information per user inside your Firestore Database. Create a simple collection and name it something along the lines of UserInfo and in there per user-id, store the additional information that you need per user, and add a field to every object in that collection named user-id and store the user.id in that field. That way you can always do a look-up of user information per user.id.
As i understand your problem to store additional data of a user after login. For this you can use Firestore database and create collections for the fields like- name, age and etc...

How to get data from firestore and show in data table? [Flutter]

Situation: In submission page, user have to select society name (dropdown menu), enter title, attach file, and submit it. After user submit the file, the file will be stored in firebase storage, and firestore will save the details under collection("Society Name") > document("date").
Details: File Title, Submission Date, User Id, Url ...
Expectation: I expecting user can check the details of document submitted, the page will show society they belongs to, and a data table showing details (column: File Title, Submission Date).
Currently, I can display the current user's society, using future builder, document snapshot from user details. But I have no idea how to get the document id (except "information") from collection("Society Name"), because the document id I stored in date time format, assume there will be more than 1 document id, storing details about file submitted.
Problem: How can I get the all document id (except "information") and show the details in data table? List view also acceptable.
Really appreciate if anyone can help me or provide me some direction. Thanks.
From what I understand, you want to get all the documents ids in a collection. To achieve this, you would need a query to get all documents in a collection.
QuerySnapshot snapshot = await FirebaseFirestore.instance.collection('Society Name').get();
List docs = snapshot.docs;
After you get all the documents, you can now loop the list to get id from the DocumentSnapshot.
docs.forEach((doc){
print(doc.id);
});
For your reference from the official docs:
id → String
This document's given ID for this snapshot.

To render as a list widgets you can use ListView.builder together with FutureBuilder

Saving users scores and favorites in Firestore Database

I am working in a small project that uses Firestore database as a backend. I explain about the database so it is understood what I need:
Basically I have a collection that contains a list of documents where each one of them represent a game. For each game I have the name, cover image, info, category, etc.
I also have a collection of the users, where I have the specific UID for each user (retrieved from the auth section), email, etc.
What I want now is to save the score that some user may have in some of these games, as well as the favorite games that the user could save. What I don't get to understand is how to create the connection between the users and the games. For example, I thought that I should save the users score creating a collection within each document(game) in the first collection that mentioned. But when I create this collection with ID "scores" it asks me for the first document where I have to facilitate an ID (if not automatic) and then I don't know how to proceed.
I have read also that I would have to create additional collections in the root folder like "favorites" or "scores" specifying the UID of the user but, how do I connect the user UID, the score, and game which the user got that score from?
I hope I explained myself properly. Thanks.
Firstly, I agree with Doug's comment above. The Firestore tutorial videos are a great resource!
In terms of connecting data to your user, you have some options. You can either:
Create sub-collections under each user. Such as /users/{user_id}/favorites. Favorites could be a sub-collection or an array of game_ids depending on your use case.
Store a userID field in the documents in a top level "scores" or "favorites" collection. Then you can query for scores in the /scores collection by adding a where userID == {user_id} clause to your query of the /scores collection.

Deleting data that all users use but only for one user in Cloud Firestore

I am trying to structure my data such that when someone adds a new product to the database, all users receive the new product in their list and therefore the new product appears on their screen.
But if a user decides to delete that product, they can delete it but only for themselves. Is there a Cloud Firestore sorting/ordering/filtering that I should be using to accomplish this?
I thought I could use something like the following:
final theProduct = Provider.of<Products>(context);
products = await firestore.collection('products').getDocuments()
for (product in products.documents) {
await firestore.collection('products').add({
'nameOfProduct': theProduct.nameOfProduct
});
}
But I get a document property error.
Maybe I need to go in one more collection and then try something? But I also need to be able to retrieve the data back using the userID of the signed in user..
Any hints/helpful links would be greatly appreciated.
So I think what I want to do is iterate through all documents within a collection and then document().collection('').add() something to each of their collection. Hopefully that sheds some more light on my problem.
Thanks to those who commented. I found a way to implement this was to use the unique value that each product contains and add it to a list on a per user basis in Firestore. Then fetch that list from Firestore and filter out the corresponding products. No deleting necessary.
Question : a user decides to delete that product, they can delete it but only for themselves
Answer: U can create list in user profile section where u can have all the product document ids & u can use that document id to fetch particular product details & when user click on delete button u can remove that particular document id from there collection
Im not sure what r u doing with sample code over there.
If u want to add data to database then use :
await Firestore().collection('Products').add({
'nameOfProduct': theProduct.nameOfProduct,
});
this will generate document random id for your product.
To get data from particular id use :
DocumentSnapshot documentSnapshot = await Firestore().collection('Products').document('document').get();
then u can use that document snapshot to get data for particular key e.g.
documentSnapshot.data['Product Name']

NoSQL query of items,lists, Groups and Users using Firebase

Am looking at the data structure in this post and want to know how you would go about getting the emails of users who belong to a certain group when they could belong to several groups and the GroupID stored against that user is the current group they are participating in?
Do you store the email addresses with the userid under the "members" or, instead, for each member of the group, get that user's email address from the "users" document userid (this would mean iterating through the group/members collection and doing a query for each user. Not very efficient).
Am used to SQL so this is all new to me.
You should have a single node for each user
/users/UID/emails/
/users/UID/emailunread/
/users/UID/settings/
/users/UID/details/
/users/UID/payments/
So you can simply do a subscription for a singular node path this.myDatasubscription = this.DB.list('users/' + this.uid).snapshotChanges() ensuring changes like new emails or account settings will detected and rolled out in real time back to the app, so your are using angular/ng or something similar client side then your variables {{this.email_list}} should update real time with no page changes.
Take a look at this one.
