I'm creating a WP menu, which should take the user to the current page, and just append a query to end of it.
So, for example I'm on a custom page:
example.com/group/fans
So the current menu items which links to:
/?query1
/?query2
/?query3
Should be appended to the current page:
example.com/group/fans/?query1
And same thing for different pages, with the Same menu items.
I've searched for many solutions but couldn't find one, Any suggestions?
Have you tried the post_link filter? I think something like below might be what you are looking for:
add_filter('post_link', function ($link) {
$pattern = 'group/fans';
$is_custom_query = strpos($link, $pattern) !== false;
if ($is_custom_query) {
return add_query_arg([
'query1' => 'someValue',
'query2' => 'someValue2'
], $link);
}
return $link;
});

I am trying to hide the following item from the following sections:
Admin bar: ID = wp-admin-bar-nitropack-top-menu
Plugin list: data-slug="nitropack"
I have tried these methods, but can not get it to work. Maybe i have the wrong IDs/Slugs?
Methods: https://divi.space/wordpress-and-divi-code-snippets/hide-any-plugin-from-the-wordpress-dashboard/
Would really appreciate some help, since a customer should not be able to change the settings within this plugin!
Best regards,
Isac
The css way
<style>
a[data-slug="nitropack"] { //hides all a href's with that data slug
display:none;
}
</style>
normally if its an wp admin menu you would do something like this:
//remove admin page item
function edit_admin_menus() {
remove_menu_page("index.php"); //Dashboard
remove_menu_page("itsec"); // wp-admin.php?page=itsec use this "itsec"
}
add_action("admin_menu", "edit_admin_menus");
or you need to remove admin bar item
//remove tool bar item
function remove_toolbar_node($wp_admin_bar) {
// replace 'updraft_admin_node' with your node id "nitropack" something
$wp_admin_bar->remove_node("avia");
$wp_admin_bar->remove_node("updates");
$wp_admin_bar->remove_menu("wp-logo");
$wp_admin_bar->remove_menu("themes");
$wp_admin_bar->remove_menu("widgets");
$wp_admin_bar->remove_menu("dashboard");
//$wp_admin_bar->remove_node("updraft_admin_node");
}
add_action("admin_bar_menu", "remove_toolbar_node", 999);
FYI, since you need to block access to the plugin you'll need to add a redirect based on member role. The customer may know the actual url and can still access the page.
//Admin or Editor role check, if else send to alt url
function block_pages_for_user() {
$blocked_pages = is_page('slug');
$url = "https://".$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];
if( !current_user_can('administrator') && !current_user_can('editor') && !current_user_can('subscriber') && $blocked_pages ) {
wp_redirect( 'http://www.example.dev/your-page/', 301 );
exit;
}
}
add_action( 'wp', 'block_pages_for_user', 8 );
I'm coding a WordPress website in which I want all the external links to be "no-follow" by default.
It is quite long to go and edit each single link to add the "no-follow", is there a way to code it once for all?
Thank you
IMHO, the best way to do so is using a custom filter. Being generated dinamically by PHP, you can edit links on post and pages server-side even before a user visit them: WordPress used to add rel="nofollow" to each link by default in the past, but I see it doesn’t happen anymore. Then, I found a solution by Debjit Saha you may try on functions.php.
add_filter('the_content', 'my_nofollow');
add_filter('the_excerpt', 'my_nofollow');
function my_nofollow($content) {
return preg_replace_callback('/<a[^>]+/', 'my_nofollow_callback', $content);
}
function my_nofollow_callback($matches) {
$link = $matches[0];
$site_link = get_bloginfo('url');
if (strpos($link, 'rel') === false) {
$link = preg_replace("%(href=\S(?!$site_link))%i", 'rel="nofollow" $1', $link);
} elseif (preg_match("%href=\S(?!$site_link)%i", $link)) {
$link = preg_replace('/rel=\S(?!nofollow)\S*/i', 'rel="nofollow"', $link);
}
return $link;
}
Please, notice that some plugins could break this code and I’ve never tried this on newer WordPress versions.
One way you can do it is using JavaScript:
var hrefToCheck = "mysite.com" // change this string
noFollowExternalLinks(hrefToCheck); // call to run the function below
function noFollowExternalLinks(siteHref) {
document.querySelectorAll('a').forEach(function(link) {
if (!link.href.includes(siteHref)) {
link.setAttribute("rel", "nofollow");
}
})
}
So, you can change hrefToCheck variable to a piece of your site URL that will be checked inside each link inside the page.
The function will loop to check every link in the page and apply rel="nofollow" to all external links (that don't match the text in the variable).
after creating taxonomies for a custom post type, they all show up in QuickEdit. I'm trying to hide them to use the menu for other custom fields but don't know how to do it. Appreciate for any help.
Even better, when registering the taxonomy, you can now pass this to the register_taxonomy function, as shown here:
'show_in_quick_edit' => false
This seems to be working since Wordpress 4.2.
A bit late to the party, but for future reference, you can use a filter for this since Wordpress 4.2.0: quick_edit_show_taxonomy. Much cleaner than the javascript approach :)
add_filter('quick_edit_show_taxonomy', 'listing_remove_taxonomy_from_quick_edit', 10, 3);
function remove_taxonomy_from_quick_edit($show_in_quick_edit, $taxonomy_name, $post_type) {
if ('post_type' === $post_type) {
return false;
}
return $show_in_quick_edit;
}
Hope this will work
Try doing by javascript. (I use jquery).
jQuery(document).ready(function($){'use strict';
if ($('.post-type-custom').length) {
$('.taxonomy-checklist').prev().prev().hide(); // to hide title
$('.taxonomy-checklist').hide(); //to hide box
} });
add this code to a js file (lets say customadmin.js and assume its in the js folder that is in the theme folder) and enqueue the file on admin side:
if(!function_exists('addstyle_to_admin')):
function addstyle_to_admin() {
if(is_admin()){
wp_enqueue_script('myadminpanelscript',get_template_directory_uri() . '/js/customadmin.js',array('jquery'),false,false);
}
}
add_action('admin_enqueue_scripts','addstyle_to_admin');
endif;
I've successfully created a custom view template for my Drupal 7 site but am having issues adding attributes to the content which is outputted. I've searched high and low for the answer to this but to no avail.
I have a view called: views-view-fields--homepage-articles.tpl.php
I am printing content like :
$fields['title']->content
This is fine and expected, and outputs:
Title
But I want to add classes to it - how? I'm thinking I need to write a hook, but I cannot find this documented anywhere. At the moment my solution is a string replace:
<?php print str_replace('<a ', '<a class="brand-blue uppercase nodecoration"', $fields['title']->content); ?>
As you can imagine, this is not a satisfactory or long-term solution.
Many thanks!
You should be able to add the classes to the field using template_preprocess_views_view_fields().
Edit: Couldn't do it the way I thought, but you can overwrite the output of the field like so:
function MY_THEME_preprocess_views_view_fields(&$vars) {
$view = $vars['view'];
if ($view->name == 'node_listing') {
foreach ($vars['fields'] as $id => $field) {
if ($id == 'title') {
$field_output = l($view->result[$view->row_index]->node_title, 'node/'. $view->result[$view->row_index]->nid, array('attributes' => array('class' => 'brand-blue uppercase nodecoration')));
$vars['fields'][$id]->content = $field_output;
}
}
}
}
Have you tried using Semantic Views? https://drupal.org/project/semanticviews - that way you can override the classes within the UI instead of template files, may suit your needs better.
I have been working on a client's WordPress Website and last day my client want to hide navigation menu and pages from author/contributor categories.
I have searched and tried some of the plugin but didn't get the exact thing. Please let me know what should i use to hide some pages from user and from navigation.
Only Admin can see all the pages and other members should see only 1 section that is allowed to visible for them.
Thank You
use this plugin to manage All roll:
http://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/
Here is the Complete function for removing each Menu and submenu from wp-admin for another user:
function remove_menus() {
global $menu, $submenu;
$restricted = array(__('Dashboard'), __('Profile'), __('Users'), __('Tools'), __('Comments'), __('Settings'), __('Plugins')); //Here you can also define the name like Pages
end($menu);
while (prev($menu)) {
$value = explode(' ', $menu[key($menu)][0]);
if (in_array($value[0] != NULL ? $value[0] : "", $restricted)) {
unset($menu[key($menu)]);
}
}
unset($menu[5]); // this is just for example
unset($submenu['edit.php'][16]); // this is just for example
}
Now You have to put a conditon for other user i.e:
$thisusername = $current_user->user_login; // this is to get the current user login
if (($thisusername == "user123")) {
add_action('admin_menu', 'remove_menus');
}
Note: You can find many plugins but all of them are not in depth like this code.Well you can try this plugin to manage your user's roles.Capability Manager Plugin
