Website on GCP cant be reached on some wifis

I am using GCP, nginx and domain name from "name.com" to deliever my website.
It can be reached on mobile network but doesn't work with wifi.
Although on some wifis you can reach my site with around ~60% (from those i have tests) you cant.
It might have to do something with DNS / DNSSEC but its litearly a guess, I am clueless.
Hey everyone so I have found the problem.
When I looked online for best practice its recommended to use different ports for the backend and frontend.
apparently the port used for the backend was blocked by some routers.
Now the backend and frontend use the same port and it is fixed.
Hopefuly it will help other people who are getting the same problem.
Could you try lower the TTL to 300 seconds for your domain in name.com? It could be that DNS has an old cache which did not yet point to your nginx instance/location. Or you could wait out the default TTL which is probably 12-24 hours.

DNS authentication for blocked sites

We're looking to setup some restrictions employees won't have access to social media sites on workstations. However, some workstations needs to have access. One method I've tried was DNS zone, however, I'm not sure how to authenticate for those who needs to have this access. Any solution would be greatly appreciated.
What you are trying to achieve is not possible with DNS, what you are looking for is a proxy server, depending on your environment you can use either Squid Proxy (linux) or Microsoft Internet Security & Acceleration Server (Windows). Each has their own way of restricting access to certain sites based on users and user groups so you would need to review the documentation for the specific site you are after but this should give you a starting point and point you in the right direction.

How to test if ldap server is up or not?

How i can test if ldap server is working or not .One way to use to Apache directory Studio client any other way if we can check if ldap server is running or not ?
Please remember i cannot login server machine where ldap installed i have to test it from a client machine. Please let me know what all mechanism or client we can use test ldap connection ?
The best way to test whether any resource is available is simply to try to use it in the normal course of your application, and cope with the errors as they arise.
Otherwise you're trying to predict the future, among other things.
Monitoring tools such as Zabbix, InterMapper,SCOM etc can provide status health.
You could try watching port 389 on the server. That port can be and is often changed. So you will need to get it from the admin of the ldap server.

How to Enable SOCKS to a SSH supported Server

Case
I own a singular VPS hosting account at Hostgator and also a shaired hosting account. This question is mostly intended to gain knowledge, so I would so much appreciate a good explanation than a how-to.
I truly apolagise for mentioning their name but I had to say it so that someone who knows has the required information to help me.
With any type of their accounts, an SSH login is provided but, only with VPS Hosting root access to the same is available.
What I want to do
I want to create a private tunnel to encrypt my browsing data between external servers and my home PC so that my ISP cannot modify or read the data that belong to me.
Question
If I have SSH supported by provider on the server side, does it mean that I have SOCKS5 too?
What else is needed for me to set-up my secure tunnel to find way out using my existing web server account?
If SOCKS5 doesnt come for shaired hosting servers for free or if its not possible, how can one use Socks5 with such servers and establish a secure connection?
SSH supports creating a SOCKS tunnel with the -D option. See http://wiki.vpslink.com/Instant_SOCKS_Proxy_over_SSH for for more details on how to use it. But, this will only be a SOCKS4, not a SOCKS5 tunnel, which means that DNS lookups still will be done outside the tunnel.

How to provide secure communication between client & server?

I'm creating a web server using Jetty (v9) and I need any traffic between browsers and the server to be encrypted. I'll be uploading files to the server, plus the client/server will maintain a session carrying sensitive access tokens.
I don't have much experience with web servers, but it seems like the solution is to have the web server serve on port 443 so that communication will use the HTTPS protocol.
I was going to start running through this tutorial for configuring Jetty with SSL, but before I start messing around with certificates and signing etc. I just wanted to ask if this is the right approach or if there is something else more suitable that I don't know about.
In answer to your question, using https is indeed the right approach.
