How to install R package with its vignettes from source via RStudio `Install and Restart` button? - r

I've downloaded the source code of an R package (You may use this R package by git-cloneing or downloading zipped version). I want to install the package via the Install and Restart button (4) in the Build tab (1). In configuration (2) I selected "Vignettes" (3).
Other configuration options I use:
Unfortunately, when I press Install and Restart, the package is installed but without its vignettes,i.e., no vignettes in the package's help page are displayed:
When I install the same package from CRAN, the vignettes are present:
Question: Is there a way to install a package with its vignettes by using this Install and Restart button. Maybe some configuration options are missing?
I use RStudio 1.3.1091, R 4.0.2 on Windows 10.

I'm aware of the solutions like:
devtools::install_github("r-lib/pkgdown", build_vignettes = TRUE)
Or in the Terminal window:
R CMD build .
R CMD INSTALL pkgdown_1.6.1.9000.tar.gz
But my question is about the functionality of the Install and Restart button (or similar tools in RStudio).

I installed this package in RStudio using devtools::install_github("r-lib/pkgdown", build_vignettes = TRUE). The vignettes are installing using this method.

Vignettes in package ‘pkgdown’:

Furthermore, vignette("pkgdown") brings up the main vignette for the package. However, the help documentation landing page for the package appears to have been updated to no longer link to the vignettes.

If the vignettes are not installing when using RStudio's menu- and GUI-based approach, perhaps the issue is a bug in RStudio and not in the package.

Cannot install packages in Rstudio

I just installed R studio and I was trying to install rmarkdown. However, I got the error as below. I unchecked the box ''Tools -> Global Options -> Packages -> Use secure download method for HTTP'' as someone suggested. No help. I tried other packages, I got the same error.
You should remove the package and reinstall it using dependencies = TRUE:
remove.packages("rmarkdown")
install.packages("rmarkdown", dependencies = TRUE)

I had the same issue and it was due to the newest version of the toolboxes include the names is under new package names. Go to the URL https://cran.rstudio.com/src/contrib/PACKAGES and search for "rmarkdown". Find the package name and try to install that instead. It's like a .zip file that includes several packages to your library. Try install.packages("accucor"). It worked for me at least, and then try to install the rmarkdown package.

ROCR package not available for R 3.4.4

I'm trying to install ROCR package using command install.packages("ROCR"), but it gives the following error:
Warning in install.packages :
package ‘ROCR’ is not available (for R version 3.4.4)
And the package doesn't appear in my list of packages. I also tried installing it from the install option in the "Packages" window, but it didn't work either.
Do you know how I can fix this? I have also selected all repositories from setRepositories().

If you cannot update your R (maybe the risk of disruption in your older R packages and codes), you can follow these steps:
Download the tar.gz format from CRAN (https://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/ROCR_1.0-11.tar.gz).
Open the tar.gz file with your Archive Manager.
Delete MD5 file to prevent checksum Errors.
Open the DESCRIPTION file and change the line Depends: R (>= 3.6) to Depends: R (>= 3.1).
Save the modified DESCRIPTION and update your tar.gz file.
Open RSTUDIO and use the install button from Packages tab. Package Archive File (.tar.gz) in the Install From dropdown menu and find the modified tar.gz
from browse, and push install button. Or simply use install.packages("~/ROCR_1.0-11.tar.gz", repos = NULL, type = "source") .
Although almost always it works fine, you should know without an MD5 checksum you risk yourself with security issues. However, we can almost always trust CRAN packages.

Can a user of a GitHub R package avoid first installing and loading devtools

Suppose I have an R package on GitHub. Is there any way, I can have an RStudio user of my package avoid first running:
install.packages("devtools")
library(devtools)
and just directly use:
install_github("My-Github-username/My-package-name")
library(My-package-name)
Can I for example make any changes to my R package such that my package automatically does install.packages("devtools") and library(devtools) for the user?
You somehow need to get your user to install and build the package locally to use it. The package can't install itself. Think of the package as a collection of code. You somehow need to get the code from GitHub to your user's computer.
If using devtools is not an option, you could have them do this manually (by, say, downloading the .tar.gz from GitHub) and then build the package themselves, using R CMD build and R CMD install such. There are some nice explanations out there on how to go about doing this. Using devtools::install_github() is a convenient, easy function that takes care of all of those steps for you.
(The exception to my statement "The package can't install itself" is that you can use devtools to install devtools.)

installing package from R-forge fails [duplicate]

R-Forge may fail to build a package for a few different reasons. It could be that
the documentation has not been updated to reflect recent changes in the code. Or,
it could be that some of the dependencies were not available at build time.
You can checkout the source code using svn. First, search for the project on the
R-Forge website and go to the project home page -- for example http://r-forge.r-project.org/projects/returnanalytics/
Click the SCM link to get to a page like this http://r-forge.r-project.org/scm/?group_id=579
This page will tell you the command to use to checkout the project. In this case you get

If you are on a UNIX-alike system, the package can be built and installed relatively easily. For a multi-package project like returnanalytics, if you want to install, e.g. the
PortfolioAnalytics package, you can do it like this
R --vanilla CMD INSTALL --build returnanalytics/pkg/PortfolioAnalytics
"PortfolioAnalytics" is the name of the directory that contains the package that
you want to build/install. For a single-package project, you can build and install like

R --vanilla CMD INSTALL --build random/pkg

It is also possible that the current version of the package you are trying to install requires a newer version of R, for example, you may see error like:
"ERROR: this R is version 2.15.0, package 'PerformanceAnalytics' requires R >= 3.0.0"
then you can try to update your R
or, if you are facing the same situation with me, which is trying to use pqR (currently using R version 2.15), you can find the out-of-date achieved package here:
