Is it possible to dynamically bind the Key of a StaticResource in Xamarin.Forms XAML?
I am trying to build a Shell Flyout menu and would like to use Font Icons
Here is the Item Template
<Shell.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<ContentView>
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal">
<Label Text="{StaticResource *key={Binding Icon}*}"></Label>
<Label Text="{Binding Title}"></Label>
</StackLayout>
</ContentView>
</DataTemplate>
</Shell.ItemTemplate>
The menu items are created using
<FlyoutItem Title="HOME" FlyoutDisplayOptions="AsMultipleItems">
<ShellContent Title="Categories & Cards" Icon="fa-th-large">
</ShellContent>
<ShellContent Title="To-Dos" Icon="fa-tasks">
</ShellContent>
</FlyoutItem>
I am trying to avoid creating a converter
I am using the technique outlined here
https://montemagno.com/xamarin-forms-custom-fonts-everywhere/
I didn't know your settings but for me you'll do better to go with the Dynamic Ressoures.
The resource:
<x:String x:Key="Icon"></x:String>
The Xaml:
<Label Text="{DynamicResource Icon}"></Label>
And then in the ViewModel, you can play with the change of the text.
App.Current.Resources["Icon"] = YourNewValueHere;

In this example,
enter image description here
click the item item to jump to the detail page,
enter image description here
but I don't want to display the bottom tab on the total page. I used [shell. Current. Navigation. Pushmodal async], but the result is that it doesn't realize the top navigation bar. Now I want to ask how to jump to display the top navigation bar without displaying the bottom tab
some code:
<FlyoutItem Route="animals"
FlyoutDisplayOptions="AsMultipleItems">
<Tab Title="Domestic"
Route="domestic"
Icon="paw.png">
<ShellContent Route="cats"
Style="{StaticResource DomesticShell}"
Title="Cats"
Icon="cat.png"
ContentTemplate="{DataTemplate views:CatsPage}" />
<ShellContent Route="dogs"
Style="{StaticResource DomesticShell}"
Title="Dogs"
Icon="dog.png"
ContentTemplate="{DataTemplate views:DogsPage}" />
</Tab>
<ShellContent Route="monkeys"
Style="{StaticResource MonkeysShell}"
Title="Monkeys"
Icon="monkey.png"
ContentTemplate="{DataTemplate views:MonkeysPage}" />
<ShellContent Route="elephants"
Style="{StaticResource ElephantsShell}"
Title="Elephants"
Icon="elephant.png"
ContentTemplate="{DataTemplate views:ElephantsPage}" />
<ShellContent Route="bears"
Style="{StaticResource BearsShell}"
Title="Bears"
Icon="bear.png"
ContentTemplate="{DataTemplate views:BearsPage}" />
</FlyoutItem>
and
await Shell.Current.GoToAsync($"//animals/monkeys/monkeydetails?name={monkeyName}");
Now I want to ask how to jump to display the top navigation bar
without displaying the bottom tab
The simplest method is to add following code for your detail page:
Shell.TabBarIsVisible="False"
The whole sample code is:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ContentPage xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
x:Class="Xaminals.Views.ElephantDetailPage"
Shell.TabBarIsVisible="False"
Title="Elephant Details">
<ScrollView>
<StackLayout Margin="20">
<!--other code-->
</StackLayout>
</ScrollView>
</ContentPage>
I have a Xamarin.Forms SearchBar to search for information on a remote server. This data is displayed in a ListView below the searchbar like the following:
Pseudocode:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<ContentPage ... >
<ContentPage.Content>
<StackLayout>
<SearchBar
x:Name="SearchBar"
Placeholder="Search for a business..."
HorizontalTextAlignment="Start"
SearchCommand="{Binding PerformSearch}"
SearchCommandParameter="{Binding Text, Source={x:Reference SearchBar}}">
</SearchBar>
<ListView
x:Name="SearchResults"
ItemsSource="{Binding Path=SearchResults}"
...
>
</ListView>
</StackLayout>
</ContentPage.Content>
</ContentPage>
Is it possible to disable the autocomplete/autocorrect in the keyboard? I know for a Text.Entry it is possible to set IsTextPredictionEnabled to false but I don't see a way to configure a SearchBar in a similar way.
Yes, according to the SearchBar Properties, the Keyboard for the InputView is exposed. Therefore, similar to this answer, it can be achieved in the XAML by using the x:FactoryMethod attribute:
<SearchBar
x:Name="SearchBar"
Placeholder="Search for a business..."
HorizontalTextAlignment="Start"
SearchCommand="{Binding PerformSearch}"
SearchCommandParameter="{Binding Text, Source={x:Reference SearchBar}}">
<SearchBar.Keyboard>
<Keyboard x:FactoryMethod="Create">
<x:Arguments>
<KeyboardFlags>None</KeyboardFlags>
</x:Arguments>
</Keyboard>
</SearchBar.Keyboard>
</SearchBar>
In Xamarin Forms 4.1, When scroll, scrollview content is covering/overflow the headerview and scrollview content is not shown completely.
Tried with IsClippedToBounds to true.
Created scrollviewrenderer, OnDraw() -> set clip to bound property. But didn't worked.
Example: Here is the XAML design
<Stacklayout>
<HeaderView/>
<ScrollView IsClippedToBounds="true">
<Stacklayout>
<label text="1"/>
........
........
<label text="100"/>
</Stacklayout>
</ScrollView>
</Stacklayout>
I make a custom control as the headerview in your description. And test on Xamarin.forms 4.1, works well.
MyCustomConrol:
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal" BackgroundColor="Aqua">
<Label x:Name="Title_label" Text="Title" TextColor="Black" FontSize="25" HorizontalOptions="StartAndExpand" Margin="8,0,4,0"/>
<Button x:Name="btnHello" Text="Hello" HorizontalOptions="EndAndExpand" Margin="4,0,8,0"/>
</StackLayout>
MainPage.xaml
<StackLayout>
<local:MyCustomControl></local:MyCustomControl>
<!--<HeaderView/>-->
<ScrollView IsClippedToBounds="true">
<StackLayout>
<Label Text="1"/>
<Label Text="2"/>
<Label Text="3"/>
……………
…………………
</StackLayout>
</ScrollView>
Result:
You could download from ScrollView/XamarinDemo folder of GitHub for reference.

If you want your header to be always visible then rather than placinf your content in Header, it will be better to place your header content first then below that place your listview. Thus, your header remains intact and listview scrolls.
Actually I am trying to show a Master Detail Page with Menu button on right side. I am not getting any option to present a Page modally from right to left and same dismiss also left to right. Can anyone help me on this.
You can use FlowDirection
<MasterDetailPage
xmlns="http://xamarin.com/schemas/2014/forms"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2009/xaml"
x:Class="RTL.MasterDetailPage"
Padding="25"
FlowDirection="RightToLeft">
<MasterDetailPage.Master>
<ContentPage Title=" ">
<StackLayout>
<Button Text="Menu item" />
</StackLayout>
</ContentPage>
</MasterDetailPage.Master>
<MasterDetailPage.Detail>
<ContentPage>
<Label Text="My page"/>
</ContentPage>
</MasterDetailPage.Detail>
</MasterDetailPage>

Better work around is,
Disable Navigation tool bar,
NavigationPage.SetHasNavigationBar(this, false);
Create custom tool bar with Hamburger image,
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal" VerticalOptions="Start" HorizontalOptions="FillAndExpand">
<Image Source="hamburger" Margin="2,0,0,0" HeightRequest="35" WidthRequest="25">
<Image.GestureRecognizers>
<TapGestureRecognizer Command="{Binding ToggleMasterCommand}" CommandParameter="1"></TapGestureRecognizer>
</Image.GestureRecognizers>
</Image>
<Label Text="Header text" HorizontalOptions="CenterAndExpand" HorizontalTextAlignment="Center" VerticalOptions="CenterAndExpand" VerticalTextAlignment="Center"/>
<Image Source="notification" HeightRequest="30" WidthRequest="30">
<Image.GestureRecognizers>
<TapGestureRecognizer Command="{Binding NotificationCommand}"></TapGestureRecognizer>
</Image.GestureRecognizers>
</Image>
</StackLayout>
Apply FlowDirection for each page. either Xaml or code behind through Visual Element
You can see a demo for setting Visual Element through code behind here
I am trying to figure out a way how to create a picker with custom items in XAML. I am not sure if it is possible to achieve this task only using xaml. The picker would have to contain items that consist of a label and a switch. The code below illustrates the end goal:
<Picker Title="Picker title here">
<Picker.ItemsSource>
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal">
<Label Text="Hello Xamarin.Forms!" />
<Switch />
</StackLayout>
<StackLayout Orientation="Horizontal">
<Label Text="Hello Xamarin.Forms2!" />
<Switch />
</StackLayout>
</Picker.ItemsSource>
</Picker>
It's not possible. I think you can create a Popup with a ListView, where you have a ViewCell with all controls you need
