HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden kentico administration - .net-core

I have installed kentico CMS and I choose default site DancingGoat. It creates all folders, and I manage to start project with VS2019. When I access http://localhost:8081/KenticoProject_DancingGoatMvc/ everything is fine. I can debug code as well. When I add /Admin, I got the error message:
HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden
What is wrong with the admin part?

The default URL of the administration interface is: http://localhost/<target location folder>_Admin, so in your case, it's probably http://localhost:8081/KenticoProject_Admin/

Long story short, make sure your IIS site is looking not at the solution folder, but the MVC project folder. It should look like this:
Also, in visual studio right click on your project, then properties and choose option web. Check if you choose Local IIS option instead off IIS Express.

HTTP Error 403.14 - The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory. in .NET core 3.1

I have project which don't have .sln file as well. I am trying to run but facing error.
I am trying to resolve this issue by going into IIS manager. IIS manager don't have list of sites and unable to add site.
Please give me solution.
Thanks
You are most likely using IIS Express while launching the program and that is why you don't see a website in IIS.
I think you want to enable directory browsing, so look here:
How to enable Directory browsing by default on IIS Express
Just a small side note: by careful with directory browsing on public websites as it can be a huge security risk.

How to configure Asp.Net Web Application with IIS

I am using Asp.Net Standard version 4.7 with MVC and attempting to deploy to IIS Express. I am facing several issues in the configuration and cant seem to find straight forward documentation for asp.Net standard. I added a website named localHost aside from Default Website in IIS. I am facing 2 issues.
When I click browse from IIS, it navigates http://localhost/Views/Home/Index.cshtml I get a 404 error.
Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found
When Debugging From Visual studio 2019 I get
Process with Id of xxxx cant be found
.
Description: HTTP 404.
I am thinking there some port configuration issue but I am unclear on how to configure.
I attached screenshots of my configuration settings.
Please follow Microsoft guideline.
You are trying to access wrong Url. Try below url to access:
http://localhost:8080/Home/Index
Maybe you are misunderstand MVC, you should visit a restful path in mvc instead of cshtml, just like this: http://localhost:8080/Home/Index -> to find /Views/Home/Index.cshtml in you solution.
To host the site .net application you need to publish it and use that publish folder as site folder path in iis.
1)open visual studio, select your project.
2)right-click on your project and choose publish:
3)in publish target select folder and create a new folder in c or another drive where can you access the folder.
4)click on the publish
5)open iis and create a new site
6)choose the folder path and site binding
7)browser your site.
Note:
Assign iis_iusrs and iusr full permission to the site folder. you need to set the physical path credential with your Gmail account.

Setting up a simple website with IIS

I am trying to create an ASP.NET MVC 4 website and serve it with IIS 7.5. So, I build it in Visual Studio, and then publish the code to a directory. In IIS Manager, I create a new website, whose physical path is the publish directory. The bindings are http:*:80:.
However, when I try to reach the website by typing in the name of my machine on a browser, I get the following error message:
HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden
The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.
What's going on here?
Karnivaurs
Try to use "localhost" or the loop back ip "127.0.0.1" to get to the site.
For the browsing, If its available in IIS then you have to enable it. See here
I wonder if you have the same issue that happened with this question, it solved my problem with IIS on Windows 8
MVC 4 website with .NET 4.5 on IIS 8 in Windows 8 gives 403.14 forbidden error
Does it work when you run it straight from visual studio? Do you have home/index? To enable directory browsing in IIS , you need to double click on Directory Browsing and Enable it. That way you can see the content of the directory. After that, you can browse to your html page.

HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden Error when accessing website

So I have all the updated code, the entire solution builds. It works on everyone else's machine, however when I try and access localhost/extranet on my machine, it gives me this error:
HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden
Detail Error Info:
Module DirectoryListingModule
Notification ExecuteRequestHandler
Handler 0x00000000
Requested URL http://localhost:80/extranet/
Physical Path C:\svn\K2\trunk\appteam\web\Chatham.Web.UI.Extranet\
Logon Method Anonymous
Logon User Anonymous
Now I tried going into IIS7, and enabling directory browsing, this removed the error, but still didn't bring up my website. I also tried going in and disabling the default document, re-enabling it, everything, nothing worked. I've also restarted IIS a few times to no avail.
Any ideas?
It sounds like your IIS is not processing the routing rules for your application and is trying to find a default.aspx, index.htm, etc. Since it cannot, it is wanting to display the directory listings (which is why you were getting the 404.14).
I just checked my dev setup and I think that your AppPool has to be set on Integrated as opposed to Classic on the Managed Pipeline for the AppPool. I have ran into this before, there may be ways to use the Classic Pipeline, but this would/should be the quickest way to resolve your issue. To check/change the pipeline mode, click on Application Pools from the menu on the left side of IIS, find your AppPool and look in the managed pipeline column. If it is set to Classic -> Right click the AppPool, choose basic settings, then change the dropdown from Classic to Integrated.
If I am incorrect, someone please feel free to correct me on this in the comments.
Edit - Just to add, you can run an MVC app in the Classic Pipeline mode, but you have to do the IIS 6 tricks to get it to work properly. Mainly, you need to turn on wildcard script mapping for MVC to work in Classic mode, If not it expects an .aspx file (or similar) to exist for it to handle the execution pipeline over to .NET from IIS.
Causes this error is removed Global.asax file from your root directory of your site.
To solve this problem add a Global.asax file to your project.
See here: How to add Global.asax file to ASP.NET MVC4 project
In IIS, you need to find out which app pool your application is running from. Just right click the web application under Sites>Manage Web Site>Advanced Settings. The first property should be the app pool.
Now, click Application Pools. You should see a column called "Identity". Add that user to the ACL of the C:\svn\K2\trunk\appteam\web\Chatham.Web.UI.Extranet\ directory. If it just says 'ApplicationPoolIdentity', it can be a little tricky figuring out the user. If it's just running under DefaultAppPool, you can use IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool.
My solution was because I didn't have ASP.NET installed via "Turn Windows Features on and Off" so it was simple. I figured it out by enabling directory browser and trying to go to my views folder which then gave a more descriptive answer and pretty much said that there was a problem with a module because ASP.NET is not properly installed. It then dawned on my to go and install it.
Change the 'start page' by right click on the page and select 'Set as Start Page' that you want to open first when the web application starts first. This might solve your problem. :)
Also make sure in IIS Application Pool settings that Enabled 32-bit Applications under Advanced Settings is set to FALSE. I spent hours trying to fix this and that was my issue. Windows Server 2012 IIS 8.5
I solved this problem by setting exact .net framework. My website was using v4.0 version of .net.
Workaround to handle the problem:
Open command line as an administrator
Go to directory "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319"
Execute the following: aspnet_regiis.exe -i
Open IIS and change Pipeline Mode of Your application to Integrated
Hope this helps
In my case the HTTP Redirection feature was missing on the server (with IIS 10).
Adding the feature resolved the issue and the site started to load fine.

IIS - "The system cannot find the file specified."

I am building an asp.net web application which has been working on local and staging. however, when i deployed to live, there is a little weird issue occurred. below is the live environment details.
live environment:
Server 2003
IIS 6
when the request url is below, if page not found, it will redirect to page 404 configured in the IIS.
however, when the request url is below (with a dot in the folder), it will show a IIS default 404 message which is "The system cannot find the file specified." which isn't what i configured in the IIS and it seems like it skips all the http handlers and modules. Therefore, my custom http handler stop working with this kind of url.
My guess it something to do with the IIS setting. i have have several research, there is no other issue like me.
appreciated if anyone can help. Thanks a lot.

One of the possible reason could be tool such as UrlScan - you need to explicitly configured it to allow dot(.)s in the url - this can be done by editing <Windows Folder>\system32\inetsrv\urlscan.ini and setting AllowDotInPath=1
