I have a strange issue. I am trying to "Find references" on the insert method of the InventTransferTable table. However, the result set is all insert calls on Common which is essentially all of the uses of insert() in the codebase. A useless result set. Is there a way for me to find only the insert calls for InventTransferTable table specifically? I have done full builds and cross reference builds. I have tried right-clicking the code .insert() and right clicking the AOT node of the method and "Find reference". Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
This is a known issue since platform update 26. Microsoft mentioned in a discussion in the Yammer group of the Insider program that it would be fixed in platform update 29 (link for those with access). I can confirm that on a development vm based on the VHD with platform update 29 and updated to platform update 30, only four references are shown for the insert method of table InventTransferTable.
In case you don't have a quick way to access a system with platform update 29 or newer, they are:
/Classes/InventTransferTableEventHandler/Methods/postInsertHandlerBR -
(29, 56) /Classes/ReqTransPoMarkFirm/Methods/createInventTransferTable
- (987, 29) /Classes/RetailRTSTransferOrder/Methods/createTransferOrderHeader -
(305, 33)
/Classes/RetailTransferOrderHandler/Methods/createTransferTable - (94,
29)

I've just written following erroneous ABL query:
FOR EACH T1 (WHERE T1.some-date = ' ') AND
(integer(T1.num1) >= 100) AND
(integer(T1.num1) <= 200) AND
(T1.some-other-date = 01/12/2021) AND
(T2.Name = itsme),
EACH T2 WHERE T2.num2 = T1.num2
BY T1.num1
As you can see, this is wrong because I've put the first bracket in front of "WHERE" instead of behind it. In top of that, my name "itsme", is not put between quotes, so the ABL query will never work.
I've been looking in my development environment ("Tools" menu), but I couldn't find an ABL query tester. I've also checked the directory "C:\Progressx86\OpenEdge\bin", but being a newbie I didn't find anything.
I have downloaded the "DataDigger" application, which contains a so-called "MCF Query Tester", but this only works on single table and only checks criteria, not entire ABL queries.
Does anybody know where I can find an ABL query tester, first for syntax checking (the bracket in front of the "WHERE") and (if possible) for data testing (01/12/2021, is that January 12th or December 1st?)?
Thanks in advance
Dominique
Create a new OpenEdge project in Progress Developer Studio for Openedge. Create a new ABL procedure under the project with the necessary database connection. Copy the above ABL code into the procedure file and you should be able to see the errors and warnings in your procedure file.
The ABL Scratch Pad view of Progress Developer Studio allows to execute ad-hoc queries.
https://knowledgebase.progress.com/articles/Knowledge/000055088
You don't mention which editor you're using, but in general terms, the ABL COMPILE statement performs syntax checking. There's no separate/independent executable that compiles/checks syntax. Generally you'll need to write a .P to perform the compilation.
You can use the PCTCompile Ant task if you'd like to use an Ant- or Gradle-based build system.
As to date formats, I thought that was in the doc, but no. Dates always have a MM/DD/YYYY format when hard-coded; decimals always use a . decimal separator (ie 123.45) when hard-coded.
Another way to test a query you're working on would be to use query-prepare which accepts a string.
DEFINE QUERY q-Test FOR T1, T2.
QUERY q-test:HANDLE:QUERY-PREPARE("your query string here").
One of my colleagues showed me an incredible easy solution:
Copy the query in a separate procedure window and add the results you want to see, something like this:
FOR EACH T1 (WHERE T1.some-date = ' ') AND
(integer(T1.num1) >= 100) AND
(integer(T1.num1) <= 200) AND
(T1.some-other-date = 01/12/2021) AND
(T2.Name = itsme),
EACH T2 WHERE T2.num2 = T1.num2
BY T1.num1
/* To be added for viewing results */
DISPLAY T1.Field1 T1.Field2 T2.Field5
END.
And launch this inside the programming environment (F2).
In case of syntax mistakes, the compiler shows the errors. In case the syntax is correct, a pop-up window is started, showing the results.
I am working on SQLite File Encryption. I have added sqlCipher & crypto frameworks successfully in my project.
Now when I try to compile my application on this line
int rc = sqlite3_key(database, [key UTF8String], strlen([key UTF8String]));
it says Implicit declaration of function 'sqlite3_key'
So above line "implicit declaration" sounds to me like function is defined but not declared. But where I have to declared ?
While searching over Internet, under this article, it says like SQLite Encryption Extension(SEE) is not available publically. I have to purchase it of cost around $2000.
SEE -> http://www.hwaci.com/sw/sqlite/see.html
So this is the only reason I am getting Implicit declaration & False response while sqlite encryption process ?
If you are using SQLCipher, you need to define SQLITE_HAS_CODEC in your application's C Flags. Thats all.
Yes, that is the reason you are getting that compiler warning. The function sqlite3_key() is not defined in the version of libsqlite3 included with iOS. Adding in a function declaration isn't going to help-- it would fix that compiler warning, but it would just mean you'll get a linker error since the function isn't defined anywhere.
If you purchased SEE you could probably build your own copy of SQLite, embed it in your app, and just not use the system's libsqlite3. That this would mean you'd have to say "yes" when the app store submission process asks if your app includes encryption, meaning extra paperwork and time before you could submit the app. I'm not certain whether there's any clear indication of whether Apple would accept it even then-- probably they would, but they've been known to surprise people.
I changed Change in persistence.xml
I also changed column definition (columnDefinition="XDB.XMLType") for xml fields
I checked OpenJpa(http://openjpa.208410.n2.nabble.com/Oracle-XMLType-fetch-problems-td6208344.html) site and IBM (http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SS7J6S_7.5.0/com.ibm.wsadapters.jca.jdbc.doc/env/doc/rjdb_problemsolutions.html)
My env is OpenJpa 2.0 and WAS 7
its throwing exception
org.apache.openjpa.persistence.PersistenceException: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLTYPE", line 169
Please suggest without changing OpenJpa2.0 as its part of IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0 how can i handle sys.XMLTYPE data, i am migrating my application from db2 to Oracle in same environment.
Writing XML data can be tricky some times! Getting the correct drivers and things defined properly can have its challenges. I can not say exactly what you need to do given the lack of info on your domain model and such, but let me give some general things to look for. First, there is an XML test in the OpenJPA test framework if you want to make reference to it. It can be seen publicly here:
https://apache.googlesource.com/openjpa/+/refs/heads/trunk/openjpa-persistence-jdbc/src/test/java/org/apache/openjpa/jdbc/oracle/
Or, another test using an "XMLValueHandler" (likely this is beyond the scope of what you are looking for):
https://apache.googlesource.com/openjpa/+/refs/heads/trunk/openjpa-persistence-jdbc/src/test/java/org/apache/openjpa/persistence/xmlmapping/query/
Second, (stating the obvious) I assume you have a column in Oracle defined as "XMLTYPE". Also, I see you are using schema SYS. I'm sure you are aware but this is a system/admin schema......just for sanity sake you might want to first get things running using a non-system/admin schema just so we don't get hung up with any issues with your OpenJPA client not having the correct permissions.
Next, you need the following definition:
#Lob #Basic
#Column(name = "ANXMLCOLUMN", columnDefinition="XMLCOLUMN XMLType")
private String anXMLString;
The #Lob I think will be necessary if you are using data greater than 4000 chars (this was mentioned in one of the comments). To start I'd use a very small set of data (a couple characters), once that works, then experiment with > 4k.
Next, make sure to use the correct JDBC driver. The last time I experimented with an XMLType I used the Oracle JDBC 11.2.0.2 driver.
Finally, you might need to use the property "openjpa.jdbc.DBDictionary" with value "oracle(supportsSetClob=true,maxEmbeddedClobSize=-1)". Again, experiment with this AND look at the OpenJPA documentation on these properties to determine if they are necessary in your scenario. I think the supportsSetClob=true will only be necessary for older version (pre-2.2.x) of OpenJPA. You might also need to use property "openjpa.jdbc.SchemaFactory" with value "native". I would suggest you first try without either or these two properties. If that doesn't help, then experiment with these two properties. I know this is vague, but I don't know what your DDL or domain model looks like so I have to keep in vague.

Heath Thomann
I'm working on a project where I'm using Symfony2 (latest) and SonataAdmin. I need to keep log of users actions by logging:
action/event date/time (when and at which time the user did something)
the user himself (the id of the user who did the action/event)
affected rows (which rows was affected by for example changing some data in a form)
I find in KnpBundles and over Google without success, can any give me some tips or ideas? Or if someone did this before give me some code as start point? Take in mind that I'm using SonataAdmin and this is a bit complicated.
The stofDoctrineExtensions (a Symfony wrapper for Gedmo's DoctrineExtensions) Loggable extension would do this for you.
This extensions can be set to log a username, changed (create, updated & remove) and the data changed (if specified) in a table that can then be used to log and/or revert changes.
StofDoctrineExtensions (Wrapper of below)
Gedmo\DoctrineExtensions (Loggable)
I have a SSDT-project. When publishing a new version I want to publish/initialize some data in the database as well. Can that be done using SSDT?
It can be done, but could be tricky. If you set up a variable in the project that can be used for "New" releases, you could put that in your post-deploy script as a section that would run a series of inserts, but only for that "New" type.
As David mentioned, the better way would likely be to use something like Red-Gate's data compare or run the scripts after creating the database. It's possible to do it in post-deploy scripts, but could prove tricky.
Something like this could work:
IF '$(DeployType)' = 'New'
BEGIN --"New" release scripts
PRINT 'Post-Deploy Scripts for release.'
:r .\InsertScript1.sql
:r .\InsertScript2.sql
--etc
END --"New" release scripts
This isn't possible in SSDT. The current guidance is to use a post-deployment script.
Redgate ReadyRoll provides many experiences familiar to SSDT users, but has improved static data management as well as many other improvements.
We include Merge-scripts automatically, when they are placed in a specific subfolder of the Project.
depending on what you do, table valued custructors might be something to have a look at:
SELECT *
FROM
(VALUES
(101, 'Bikes'),
(102, 'Accessories'),
(103, 'Clothes')
) AS Category(CategoryID, CategoryName);
These are easily transported and compared by SSDT.
