If not determined user, show restriction page, Else, show desired page [duplicate] - asp-classic

In vbscript can you use two possible conditions in an if statement? (OR)

i'm stuck at my job dealing with an issue new to me, you see, i need to check that only certain users can access a determined page rather than all of them, so i'm trying an "if not" command but it's not working, how can i solve this?
basically what i need is that if is not a determined user shows a page that says "hey, you're not allowed here" and if it is such user shows a page that says "welcome to this page" or something
If not user_unique_id = 287 OR 809 OR 833 OR 829 OR 837 OR 831 then
response.redirect "Authorized_users_only.asp"
Else
response.redirect "Desired_page.asp"
End If
the error i'm getting is it is only allowing me one user, usually the first one i place, the rest doesn't let them into the desired page

You need to repeat your test for each ID. For example:
If not (user_unique_id = 287 OR user_unique_id = 809 OR...) then
Try this variation instead:
Select Case user_unique_id
Case 287, 809, 833, 829, 837, 831
response.redirect "Desired_page.asp"
Case Else
response.redirect "Authorized_users_only.asp"
End select
Ideally, you should use a database where user rights are defined, or you'll need to modify your code everytime a new user gets access or someone leaves...

Use a URL parameter and define conditions in wordpress

I haven't found any information about a similar question so I'll ask it now.
I am building a website with WordPress + Elementor. It basically consists of a form (currently made with jetengine) that performs a calculation and sends the result to the next page via a URL parameter. So far it works without problem.
Well what I want to do is on the second page is receive the above result and work with it. In other words, take it from the url and, depending on the number, show a result on the screen.
A concrete example would be the following:
If I receive a negative number up to 0: convert the value to 0, show it on the screen and a message appears saying "insufficient value, try again".
If I receive from 0 to 50: I do not transform the value. I show the value on the screen and a message that says "good job".
If I receive from 50 to 99: I do not transform the value. I show the value on the screen and a message that says "excellent work".
If I receive more than 100: transform the value to 100, I show it on the screen and show a message that says "perfect score".
Thanks a lot!

Can't figure how phone number reveal works

I am pretty new to web-scraping and recently I am trying to automatically scrap phone number for pages like this. I am not supposed to use Selenium/headless url browser libraries and I am trying to find the a way to actually request the phone number using let say a web service or any other possible solution that could give me the phone number hopefully directly without having to go through the actual button press by selenium.
I totally understand that it may not even be possible to automatically reveal the phone number in one shut as it is meant not be accessible by nosy newbie web-scraper like me; but I still like to raise the question for my information to get detailed answer from an expert point of view.
If I search the "Reveal" button DOM element, it shows some tags which I have never seen before. I have two main questions which I believe could be helpful for newbies like me.
1) Given a set of unknown tags/attribues (ie. data-q and data-reveal in the blow button), how is one able to find out which scripts in the page are actually using them?
2) I googled the button element's tag like: data-q and data-reveal the only relevant I could find was this which for some reason I don't have access two even-if I use proxy.
Any clue particularly on the first question is much appreciate it.

Below is the href-button code
Reveal
Ok, according to your demand there are several steps before you finally get a solution.
1st step : open your own browser and enter your target page(https://www.gumtree.com/p/vans/2015-ford-transit-custom-2.2tdci-290-l1-h1/1190345514)
2nd step : (Assume you are using Chrome as your favorite browser) Press Ctrl+Shift+I to open the console, and then select 'Network' tag in the console.
3rd step : Press the 'Reveal' button on that page, watch the console carefully, catch the http request which is sent immediately when you press the 'Reveal' button. You can see the request contains a long string of number in Query String Parameters, actually it is a timestamp.
4th step : Also you can see there is a part named 'Request Headers' in that http request, and you should copy the values of referer , user-agent , x-gumtree-token.
5th step : Try to construct your request (I am a fan of Python, So I am going to show you my example code in Python)
import time
import requests
import json
headers = {
'referer': 'please enter the value you just copied from that specific request',
'user-agent': 'please enter the value you just copied from that specific request',
'x-gumtree-token': 'please enter the value you just copied from that specific request'
}
url = 'https://www.gumtree.com/ajax/account/seller/reveal/number/1190345514?_='
current_time = time.time()
current_time = str(current_time)
current_time = current_time.split('.')[0] + current_time.split('.')[1] + '0'
url += current_time
response = requests.get(url=url,headers=headers)
response_result = json.loads(response.content)
phone_number = response_result['data']

Inform 7 error using If player consents

I'm trying to write a piece of interactive fiction using inform 7, I want to put a choice in there for the player and I want a simple yes or no I used the following code:
if the player consents say "You get a better view of the stranger."
Otherwise:
say "You can't make out what's happening clearly, however, you notice the stranger walking out of the pub"
I then get this useless error message:
You wrote 'if the player consents say "You get a better view of the stranger."' : but I can't find a verb that I know how to deal with. This looks like an 'if' phrase which has slipped its moorings, so I am ignoring it. ('If' phrases, like all other such instructions, belong inside definitions of rules or phrases - not as sentences which have no context. Maybe a full stop or a skipped line was accidentally used instead of semicolon, so that you inadvertently ended the last rule early?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The punctuation is off. Phrases should end with a semicolon, and if phrases should use either begin..end blocks, or the "colon-and-indentation" style. So either:
if the player consents begin;
say "You get a better view of the stranger.";
otherwise;
say "You can't make out what's happening clearly, however, you notice the stranger walking out of the pub";
end if;
or
if the player consents:
say "You get a better view of the stranger.";
otherwise:
say "You can't make out what's happening clearly, however, you notice the stranger walking out of the pub";
Note the colons and semicolons and tabs in the second example.
Also, as the error message says, you need to specify when that question should be asked. If phrases must be inside rules or phrases. For example, if the question should be asked as a result of an action:
After examining the stranger for the first time:
say "Move closer?";
if the player consents begin;
say "You get a better view of the stranger.";
otherwise;
say "You can't make out what's happening clearly, however, you notice the stranger walking out of the pub";
end if;

Waiting for elements to update in an asp.net site

I am using excel vba to create an API of sorts for a third party .aspx site.
For testing I have set it up to search for a person by their ID and the print their name as displayed on the webpage.
The problem is that the function will print the name of the last person searched not the current one, even though the page displays the correct name.
So,
search John Cleese's ID
Print "Cleese, John"
search Michael Palin's ID
Print "Cleese, John"
search Eric Idle's ID
Print "Palin, Michael"
search Terry Jones' ID
Print "Idle, Eric"
I believe the cause is that the function is getting the name before the specific html element with the persons name on it has updated. .Busy or .ReadyState seem ineffective because the site is ASP.NET
Code
Public Function search(ID as string)
With IE
.Navigate idSearch_URL
Do While .ReadyState <> 4 Or .Busy: DoEvents: Loop ' wait
With .Document
.getElementByID(idSearchTxt_ID).Vlaue = ID ' enter id
.getEleentById(idFindBtn_ID).Click ' search it
End With
Do While .ReadyState <> 4 Or .Busy: DoEvents: Loop ' wait
Debug.Print .Document.getElementByID(nameLabelID).innerText ' Prints prev. name
End With
End Function
I know the issue is that the wait loops aren't waiting for existing elements to update because, if I set through with the debugger or just insert a Sleep call before the Debug.Print, then the correct name is printed. What methods can I use to wait until the nameLabelID has updated or all of the webpage has updated.
I don't want to use a Sleep call because it's a waste of time and I can't shorten it to like 10 ms because I don't know if that would be long enough.
I don't think I should share much of the source code for the website. However, I could drop some of the javascript functions, if a solution involves them.
PS. I know nothing about ASP.NET. The behavior of the site indicates like there are some local variables set when navigating the site. Are they client side? Is there a way to grab those directly and bypass reading the webpage?
PPS, This may be just for comments, but would another language like perl or ruby be more appropriate for this than VBA?

Response Buffer Limit Exceeded

I am running a simple query to get data out of my database & display them. I'm getting an error that says Response Buffer Limit Exceeded.
Error is : Response object error 'ASP 0251 : 80004005'
Response Buffer Limit Exceeded
/abc/test_maintenanceDetail.asp, line 0
Execution of the ASP page caused the Response Buffer to exceed its configured limit.
I have also tried Response.flush in my loop and also use response.buffer = false in my top of the page, but still I am not getting any data.
My database contains 5600 records for that, Please give me some steps or code to solve the issue.
I know this is way late, but for anyone else who encounters this problem: If you are using a loop of some kind (in my case, a Do-While) to display the data, make sure that you are moving to the next record (in my case, a rs.MoveNext).
Here is what a Microsoft support page says about this:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/944886/error-message-when-you-use-the-response-binarywrite-method-in-iis-6-an.
But it’s easier in the GUI:
In Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, click on ASP.
Change Behavior > Limits Properties > Response Buffering Limit from 4 MB to 64 MB.
Apply and restart.
The reason this is happening is because buffering is turned on by default, and IIS 6 cannot handle the large response.
In Classic ASP, at the top of your page, after <%#Language="VBScript"%> add:
<%Response.Buffer = False%>
In ASP.NET, you would add Buffer="False" to your Page directive.
For example:
<%#Page Language="C#" Buffer="False"%>
I faced the same kind of issue, my IIS version is 8.5. Increased the Response Buffering Limit under the ASP -> Limit Properties solved the issue.
In IIS 8.5, select your project, you can see the options in the right hand side. In that under the IIS, you can see the ASP option.
In the option window increase the Response Buffering Limit to 40194304 (approximately 40 MB) .
Navigate away from the option, in the right hand side top you can see the Actions menu, Select Apply. It solved my problem.
If you are not allowed to change the buffer limit at the server level, you will need to use the <%Response.Buffer = False%> method.
HOWEVER, if you are still getting this error and have a large table on the page, the culprit may be table itself. By design, some versions of Internet Explorer will buffer the entire content between before it is rendered to the page. So even if you are telling the page to not buffer the content, the table element may be buffered and causing this error.
Some alternate solutions may be to paginate the table results, but if you must display the entire table and it has thousands of rows, throw this line of code in the middle of the table generation loop: <% Response.Flush %>. For speed considerations, you may also want to consider adding a basic counter so that the flush only happens every 25 or 100 lines or so.
Drawbacks of not buffering the output:
slowdown of overall page load
tables and columns will adjust their widths as content is populated (table appears to wiggle)
Users will be able to click on links and interact with the page before it is fully loaded. So if you have some javascript at the bottom of the page, you may want to move it to the top to ensure it is loaded before some of your faster moving users click on things.
See this KB article for more information http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925764
Hope that helps.
Thank you so much!
<%Response.Buffer = False%> worked like a charm!
My asp/HTML table that was returning a blank page at about 2700 records. The following debugging lines helped expose the buffering problem: I replace the Do While loop as follows and played with my limit numbers to see what was happening:
Replace
Do While not rs.EOF
'etc .... your block of code that writes the table rows
rs.moveNext
Loop
with
Do While reccount < 2500
if rs.EOF then recount = 2501
'etc .... your block of code that writes the table rows
rs.moveNext
Loop
response.write "recount = " & recount
raise or lower the 2500 and 2501 to see if it is a buffer problem. for my record set, I could see that the blank page return, blank table, was happening at about 2700 records, good luck to all and thank you again for solving this problem! Such a simple great solution!
You can increase the limit as follows:
Stop IIS.
Locate the file %WinDir%\System32\Inetsrv\Metabase.xml
Modify the AspBufferingLimit value. The default value is 4194304, which is about 4 MB.
Changing it to 20MB (20971520).
Restart IIS.
One other answer to the same error message (this just fixed my problem) is that the System drive was low on disk space. Meaning about 700kb free. Deleting a lot of unused stuff on this really old server and then restarting IIS and the website (probably only IIS was necessary) cause the problem to disappear for me.
I'm sure the other answers are more useful for most people, but for a quick fix, just make sure that the System drive has some free space.
I rectified the error 'ASP 0251 : 80004005' Response Buffer Limit as follow:
To increase the buffering limit in IIS 6, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
cd /d %systemdrive%\inetpub\adminscripts
Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
cscript.exe adsutil.vbs SET w3svc/aspbufferinglimit LimitSize
Note LimitSize represents the buffering limit size in bytes. For example, the number 67108864 sets the buffering limit size to 64 MB.
To confirm that the buffer limit is set correctly, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
cd /d %systemdrive%\inetpub\adminscripts
Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
cscript.exe adsutil.vbs GET w3svc/aspbufferinglimit
refers to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/944886
If you are looking for the reason and don't want to fight the system settings, these are two major situations I faced:
You may have an infinite loop without next or recordest.movenext
Your text data is very large but you think it is not! The common reason for this situation is to copy-paste an Image from Microsoft word directly into the editor and so the server translates the image to data objects and saves it in your text field. This can easily occupies the database resources and causes buffer problem when you call the data again.
In my case i just have writing this line before rs.Open .....
Response.flush
rs.Open query, conn
It can be due to CursorTypeEnum also. My scenario was the initial value equal to CursorTypeEnum.adOpenStatic 3.
After changed to default, CursorTypeEnum.adOpenForwardOnly 0, it backs to normal.
