I have a bulk copy template to azure blob storage data transfer set up in ADF. This activity will dynamically produce 'n' number of files.
I need to write log file (txt format) after pipeline activity completed finished.
The log file should have pipeline start & completion datetime and also number of files outputted, status etc.
What is the best way or to choose the activity to do this?
Firstly,i have to say that ADF won't generate log files about the execution information automatically. You could see Visually monitor and Programmatically monitor for activities in ADF.
In above link, you could get the start time of pipeline: Run Start.Even though it does not have any Run End, you could calculate by yourself: Run End = Run Start + Duration.
As for the number of files, please refer to this link.
Anyway,all these metrics need to be got programatically i think,you could choose the language you are good at.

I have a CSV that I want to download. I do not want it to download every time a user joins or uses the app.
I want to run the code every 24 hours and also display any of 1) timer since last download 2) timer until next download 3) timestamp of last download
Below is what I have right now, which works, but will probably cause unnecessary downloads. Is doing something with invalidatelater going to work or is there a better way?

There are two ways to approach this:
Check to see if it should be downloaded when the app starts; if the file is more recent than 24h, do not re-download it. This can be resolved fairly easily with:

(The is.na is there in case the file does not exist.)
One complicating factor with this is that two simultaneous users might attempt to download it at the same time. There should likely be some mutex file-access control here if that is a possibility.
Make sure this script is run every 24h, regardless of what users are or are not using the app. On what type of server are you running this app? Something like shiny-server does not do cron-like running, I believe, and you might not be able to guarantee that the app is "awake" every 24h. RStudio Connect does allow scheduled jobs, which might be a consideration for you.
Lacking that, if you have good access to the server, you might just add it as a cron job using Rscript or similar to download and overwrite the file.
Note about mutex file access: many networked filesystems (common in cloud and server architectures) do not guarantee file locking. A common technique is to download into a temporary file and then move (or copy) this temp file into the "real" file name in one step. This guards against the possibility that one process is reading from the file while another process is writing to it ... partial-file reads will be a frustrating and difficult-to-reproduce bug.
I am working on a project which will batching some 834 records in file.
I setup the batching trigger as when the record count reaches a number, a batch file will release. But I also want release a batch even the record count is not reached (for example, every night, release all queueing record as a final file).
I know it can be done by click the override button in Batch Configuration window, but it need be done automatically.
So, basically, my question is, what did BizTalk do when I clicked the override button? Does BizTalk prove anyway to let me do that in a program?
I must say I did not try to send a controlmessage to a batch setting as release per record count, if you know this works, please let me know.
You're almost there and to complete the process isn't that difficult.
Leave the Batch configuration at the records count as it is.
Then, setup a process where an External Release trigger is sent at the appropriate time. A Windows Scheduled Task is a viable option, it can copy a file to a File Receive Location.

I want to make a report of start and end times of a Autosys job from last three months.
How can i get it. Do i need to check archived history or logs?
If yes, please lemme know the details.

Autosys internally uses Oracle or Sybase database. As long as the data is available in the DB you can fetch it using autorep command. To get past run time use -r handle.
For example: autorep -J JobA -r -30
The above will give you last 30th run time for the job.
However, due to performance bottleneck that may arise due to historical data in the DBs the DBAs generally purge the data after a while. I have seen period of 1 day to 7 days based on the number of the jobs and database instance power.
Other approximate way would to be use the log files created by autosys if the option stdout is specified with unique filenames.
For example: you can have the attribute as std_out: $JOB_NAME.out.date +%m.%s
In this case the log file will be created as soon as the job starts which you can get from the filename using text function on unix,etc.
For the end-time, you can use the last modified time - this is where the approximate part comes in as the time would depend if your job had an echo to the log file or not. It can either be close or far based on the command of the script.
This method will not let you know the times for the box jobs as they never have a log attribute, for that you can depend on the first job in the box.
I am performing a database restore as part of our TFS 2010 Team build. Since a number of databases are being restored, I am using a batch file which is invoked via the InvokeProcess activity.
I have a number of issues that I am uncertain about:
1. Does the TFS wait for all the command in the batch file to complete or move to the next activity as soon as kicking the InvokeProcess?
2. Is there a way to have the build process wait for successful completion of the batch command?
I am using it as follows:
The FileName property of InvokeProcess has "c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe"
The Arguments property has the full path of my batch file.
Yes the InvokeProcess will wait for the external command to finish.
I am having an VBScript files which runs by many instance of jobs. I need to log the error information if any error occurs in the script processing. If i maintain a log file then how can i differentiate the log file for each instances (around 10 simultaneous instances) of vb script calling.
I dont go for any db logging.
Please suggest some good ways.
I would use the same log file for all instances. I would then have each instance create a GUID:

When an error is logged by an instance, it uses the GUID to identify itself. This way it shouldn't matter if you have 10 or 50 instances, they will be unique in logging and you won't have a ton of log files everywhere.
