I'd like to create a web application that could retrieve its users' LinkedIn network (1st degree connections). Can this be done using the "Sign In with LinkedIn" feature or any available LinkedIn API or Partner Program? Ideally, using the "Sign In with LinkedIn" to register to the web application will retrieve the user's LinkedIn basic profile (incl. name, last name, company, current position, primary email address) but also its 1st degree connections (also including their first name, last name, company, current position, primary email address). Thanks!
You can use LinkedIn API to get 1st degree connection once user grants access from OAuth.
Here is the link.

I am using facebook on my website to send requests. (like a multi friend selector)
I am using the a basic method in fb documentation as
https://www.facebook.com/dialog/apprequests?app_id=APP_ID&message=Facebook%20Dialogs%20are%20so%20easy!&redirect_uri=http://localhost/mysite/newpage.aspx
It works and sends requests and I get the id'd of the users requests are sent to.
Now, How do I get their email address ?
I would like to store both facebook id and email addresses of all the people requests are sent to.
In fact, it would be of great help if I can get some basic details like email, first and last name, facebook profile picture etc., for all those ids.
I am using asp.net. Please try to answer in that.
That's simply not possible - there's no way the Facebook Graph API would expose Email-addresses of friends! (you can of course access the email-address of the current user when authorizing with the "email"-extended permission).
As for the other basic details - yeah, firstname, lastname & profile picture are publicly available, just query https://graph.facebook.com/USERID?fields=first_name,last_name,picture. You should consider using Batch-Requests if you want to query lots of different persons in one go.
I have built a web application that uses a service account linked to my own Google Account. We use Google Apps, so my Google Account is part of a domain. We have a server with shared contacts, so all of our clients are available as contacts for everyone. In my contacts, this group is called 'directory'.
The application retrieves events from the Google Calendar using the Google Api PHP client. It also retrieves attendees inlcuding all details for those attendees. But if the attendee is not within our domain, it will only retrieve the e-mail address. I also want to get the name for that attendee.
These names are in my contacts in the directory group. When I create an event and invite guests, I can retrieve these contacts and it will show the name and mail adress. But when retrieving the attendees via the API it does not show these names.
Is this a restriction of the API? Is there a solution for this?
I do not want to use the Contacts api with a non-service account, because I don't want to give permission everytime. It is not possible to use the Contacts api with a service account as far as I know.
You are correct that a service account won't work with the Contacts API, however you don't have to authorize it every time you use it. You can provide domain-wide delegation with two-legged OAuth 1.0a instead of 2.0. See https://developers.google.com/google-apps/contacts/v3/index#authorizing_requests_to_the_+wzxhzdk8+_service and https://developers.google.com/accounts/docs/OAuth#GoogleAppsOAuth.
Depending on your setup, you can also use the three-legged OAuth 2.0 flow for a single administrator account and save the refresh token. This would let you re-use that authorization without requiring explicit permission again.
Is it possible, with the Google Calendar API / Zend Gdata, to get the user's google email address, after he successfully authenticated with AuthSub and I have an access token?
I have a problem with some users having multiple Gmail and Google Apps accounts, and then not remembering which one they've used to Sync with my service and having the impression that the sync doesn't work. I'd like to display them the Google Account they have first authenticated with.
Have you tried the experimental settings API? It looks like it returns the user's name and email address in the author section.
I am developing an ASP.NET application.
I implemented Facebook API in my application now I want to access email addresses of my friends on Facebook.
I successfully connected Facebook with my application, but when I use FacebookApi.friends.GetList() it will give only friends userids then I will fire a FQL for each friend userid to access email but some time I got blank instead of email address.
Can someone help.
Which is best way facebook rest API or graph API?
The answer is almost certainly that one of the following is true:
The user hasn't shared an email address with Facebook
The user has placed you in a privacy group they deign to share their email address with
The user has set their privacy settings to not share their email address at all
If any of these are true, there's nothing you can do to resolve this short of asking your friends to change their privacy settings.
You need to ask for permission "email" to access email address of any user using your app, the reason why you are getting some email addresses is because few of Facebook users relatively have less restrictive privacy settings.
ASP.Net C# and FaceBook Connect.
I'm using Facebook connect on my site. If a new user connects through FB i create an account for them and all is fine. What i would also like to do is check to see if they already have a registered account.
So if someone connects that has not logged in but has an account i would like to be able to locate the account in my application a link it. I hoping this could be done via the email address?
Any ideas
Thanks
Richard
UPDATE: You need Connect.registerUsers:
This method is used to create an
association between an existing user
account on your site and that user's
Facebook account, provided the user
has not connected accounts before.
This method takes an array of account
data, including a required email_hash
and optional account data. For each
connected account, if the user exists,
the information is added to the set of
the user's connected accounts. If the
user has already authorized the site,
the connected account is added in the
confirmed state. If the user has not
yet authorized the site, the connected
account is added in the pending state.
If the user deactivates their external
user account, then call
connect.unregisterUsers. To get the
number of friends a user has in the
pending state, use
connect.getUnconnectedFriendsCount.
If that doesn't resolve your question, this question is not a duplicate of yours, but the answers might give you a way forward:
How do we register users — Facebook Connect users logging in the first time — when we cannot get an email address from facebook?
