CSS not applying when mat-expansion-panel-header is in child component - css

I have a component that uses MatExpansionPanel to display a list of products.
I'm using some CSS to hide the overflow of the product's description. Please, see this stackblitz for the current looking.
So I'm trying to extract the panel header into a child component and to apply the exact same CSS to it. However, the CSS doesn't seems to be working. Please, see this stackblitz.
Am I doing something wrong there ? Or is it that this Angular Material component is implemented in a way that it shouldn't be split in different components ?

You can wrap your product-panel-header.component between a div with display:flex like this:
html:
<div class="panel-header">
<mat-panel-title>
{{product.noProduit}}
</mat-panel-title>
<mat-panel-description class="product-name">
{{product.designation}}
</mat-panel-description>
<mat-panel-description>
{{product.quantite}}(+{{product.supplement}})
</mat-panel-description>
</div>
css:
.panel-header {
display: flex;
}

How can I style a sub element of a Fluent UI component in React?

I am trying to style an HTML element inside the component from the Fluent UI React library.
What I want to do is put the "On" / "Off" text to the left of the toggle rather than on the left. When I look at my "compiled" code I can see that the component is translated into:
<div>
<label></label>
<div id="target-me">
<button>
<span></span>
</button>
<label></label>
</div>
</div>
I want to add an inline-flex to the target-me div and set flex-flow property to row-reverse in order to get the button element to the right of the label element. The problem is, I can't manage to target the "target-me" div in my code.
How can I achieve this without rewriting a custom component ?
Thanks!
Ok, well I found the answer to my own question so here it is:
<Toggle styles={{ container: { flexFlow: "row-reverse" } }} />
Essentially you can target different parts of the component (root, container, label..) by using the styles property. Use VS Code's Intellisense to find out what elements you can target inside the component and then just give it some regular CSS-in-JS that you want.

Add a custom style to the component in Angular

I am still new in angular 7. I have a form with title directive and div. I am trying to set both of them in same row with 49% width in side the form. The div style work fine but in the title component doesn't take the style. the problem is i need to change the title directive only in the current form. is there any way to do that?
many thanks
<form #taskForm="ngForm" (ngSubmit)="onSubmit()">
<my-title [style.width]='49%' [title]="'title.page'" [wikiUrl]='wikiUrl' icon="work">
</my-title>
<div [style.width]='49%'>
<button>Save</button>
</div>
</form>
Add px which almost equals to 49%.
<div [ngStyle]="{'width.px': 490px}">
<button>Save</button>
</div>
If you want to set a width in percent you can also use the following syntax:
<div [style.width.%]="49">...</div>
The real problem however seems to be that the 'my-title' component is not responding to the width rule. This is probably because 'my-title' is not a known html tag and so there is no default rendering behavior in the browser for it.
If you want your component tag to behave like a block element (that is what a div element is rendered like) then you just have to apply the rule display: block; to it.
Since your component tag is not part of your template, but the wapper for it you can either apply the following style to the parent component that is using the 'my-title' component:
/* this will not work inside the css file of the 'my-title' component:*/
my-title {
display: block;
}
...or you can use the :host selector in the css/scss file of the 'my-title' component, which is probably better in this case:
:host {
display: block;
}

CSS - Set parent element display none

I have a web code generated by an aplication (built in angular). It is a menu choice where I need to hide some of them. It looks e.g. like this:
<div class=first>
<div class=second>
<a href=href1>
</div>
<div class=second>
<a href=href2>
</div>
<div class=second>
<a href=href3>
</div>
</div>
Now what I need is to hide the div which contains a element with href2.
I can hide the a element:
.first .second a[href="href2"] {display:none}
But I need to hide the whole div element. I thought:
.first .second < a[href="href2"] {display:none}
that doesn't work.
I KNOW THE JQUERY SOLUTION with has function. The problem is I can only adapt css files of the application. If i'm right I cannot use jquery in css file.
Please...any Idea how to do this ?
thanks a lot for help
best regards
Marek
At the moment there is (sadly) no way to adress the parent element with CSS.
I don't know your layout or CSS Code but maybe you can just structure your HTML-Code in a different way.
Edit
And now I understand your question...
To hide (for example) the 3th .second div you don't need to adress it from the child element but from the parent element.
What you are probably looking for are the nth selectors,
for instance: nth-child() or nth-of-type().
You can find more info here.
Also, you should probably take a look at the basics of HTML and CSS.
In your code you have not closed the <a> tags or wrapped the values of the attributes in quotation marks.
Wrong:
<div class=first></div>
Right:
<div class="first"></div>
To hide (for instance) the first element you could use the :first-child selector or the :nth-child() selector. Since you will probably use the nth-child() selector this would be:
.first > .second:nth-child(1) {
display: none;
}

Add different style to different kendo window

I'm using multiple window on the same page and i want to apply
different styles on which window. I try to write a wrapper over the
window so it can be identified in the css by id but that does not work.
This is the source:
<div class="wrapper">
<div kendo-window="InitialisingApp">
</div>
</div>
This is the result:
<div class="wrapper"></div>
<div class="k-widget k-window....">
..........................
</div>
Any ideas about this problem?
Thank you! Have a nice day!
You can take a look at this:
Limit scope of external css to only a specific element?
Only other option that I see is to copy the theme and add a css selector in front of everything so that the theme only apply when wrapped with a specific class. Also keep in mind the CSS priorities to make sure the blue style gets applied over the default style.
Example:
<style>
.blueStyleWrapper .k-window {
/* Some kendo styles */
}
</style>
<div class="blueStyleWrapper">
<div class="k-window">
This window will be using the blue theme!
</div>
</div>

Hiding a div with specific text as content

I've got a DIV I want to hide, but I cannot give it a specific ID... actually I cannot change the text of the DIV, since it is retrieved from a database, but I can add some html before it AND I know the exact text content of the DIV.
It's something like:
<div class="this_div">content_of_this_div</div>
So, I thought that maybe looking for the specific content, then taking the div and incapsulating it in a hidden div could work... or something similar... any idea?
thanks
If you can insert other HTML around it then you can use another div to hide it
Using CSS and HTML
.hidden { display: none; }
...
<div class="hidden"><div class="this_div">content_of_this_div</div></div>
Using HTML and Inline CSS
<div style="display: none;"><div class="this_div">content_of_this_div</div></div>
Wrap it in your own div would seem most sensible.
<div id="mydiv">
<div class="this_div">content_of_this_div</div>
</div>
then hide your div:
document.getElementById("mydiv").style.display="none";
Or, use jQuery. If that is only instance of class, you could do
$(".this_div").hide();
If you just want to be able to select it without giving it a specific id, you can do a number of things. Make an empty div with an id before, then use the direct sibling selector:
#divid+div {}
or use many other css selectors to accomplish same
But I do reccomend the aforementioned external div technique over this
