I am rebuilding a web app in Azure, I used to have all my app settings and connection strings in azure. So I have put the app settings back in, but the connection string for the Azure SQL server doesn't like what I am putting in.
In the web.config I have this

But I am having issues putting this into the value input field in azure.
You probably don't need the metadata information here. When I work with EF in Azure, I just use the connection string from the portal. e. g.:
data source=tcp:leisureinsure.database.windows.net,1433;initial catalog=leisureinsure-website-preprod;persist security info=True;user id=XXXXXX;password=XXXXXX;multipleactiveresultsets=True

I am trying to create an App Service web app in the Azure Portal and to connect the web app to my local on-premises SQL Server database using the new Hybrid Connection feature.
Created a simple ASP.NET application using Visual Studio 2015 and trying to connect to the SQL server Database which is on on-prem. And modified the connection String as follows

It is what it says - meaning Initial Catalog is missing in your connection string. It requires the Db name to connect to. You have the servername, SQLUserName, SQLPassword, but missing the DatabaseName it requires. Please change your connection string to include the the DbName as follows

I have developed a web apllication in asp.net with its connection String in web.config file and working very well in localhost. But when i deployed to hosting server using windows shared hosting it fives the error

where anama76 is my domain user.My database userName is anama_Muneeb. I am finding it difficult to know that why connection string is using the domain user to connect to Db.

I have spent several hours trying to search this on the web in addition to calling and emailing support at 1and1.com web hosting with no success.
I have ASP.NET pages which connect to MS SQL Server database using the entity framework. On my local machine, all works fine (naturally). However, when I modify the connection string in my web.config to point to my SQL Server database on 1and1.com, I get the following error:
"Unable to load the specified metadata resource."
Here's my current connection string (as defined in my web.config file):

I'm using the Entity Framework in the code so I'd prefer solutions that correct the content of my web.config file.

Here is what actually works on 1and1 server from ASP.NET Code first design. So, simply replace your serverName, DatabaseName, UserID, and Password.

I'd suggest you first try and establish whether you can connect to the database from outside the web application either via SQL Server Management Studio or by using a .UDL file. I've answered a question on testing a SQL server connection here.
Based on the results of these tests it may become apparent to you what the problem may be. In your case, you are using integrated security (which you would need to be on a domain to use over the network). If you are not on a domain, a username and password may need to be supplied.
Standard way to connect Database as;

What I can See here is you are messing ;
ID=userName;Password=password"
to connect the database in connectionString. Default username and password should be "root" unless you have changed it.

I have added the sqlmembershipprovider to my dynamic data project for logging in and registering and such.
However, I am having problems with the connection string. The database is on a remote sql server 2008 database server.
Below I have a connection string for the entities:

When I hit the membership provider, I get this error:
Keyword not supported: 'metadata'.
on this line of code:

Do I need a separate connection string for the provider? Or should I be able to use the above string with all my connections, including my membership provider?
