I have been using Parasoft SOA Testing Tool(9.10) for testing a WCF service. I have two test cases in a test suite. I want to do an update of a database table row after executing the first test case. How can I implement that in parasoft soa tool.
eg:
> Step 1: Test Case 1: Add an Account
> Step 2: UPDATE database and set a field of Account table to verified
> Step 3: Test Case 2: View Account
I'm assuming that you are using MS SQL DB in your test scenario.
If yes, please use DB Tool to execute update SQL query.
Now, depending on how do you want to get update, configure connection with DB
and use appropriate SQL query
Depending on how do you want to View Account in step 3, you may want to use XML DataBank which store output from SQL query to use it as input for validation/assertion.
Don't forget to add proper driver to connect with SQL DB in Parasoft>Preferences>JDBC Drivers, then restart tool.

We want to be able to pin all sql executions to a particular schema_version table in schema A. We need this so that we can run sqls as a sysdba and flyway always references A.schema_version to validate checksums and update result of SQL runs. We tried by adding the following settings:
flyway.schemas=A
flyway.table=schema_version
However we find that if we run info as user B then flyway is not able to show it can read A.schema_version. What are we missing?
Found out the solution. Schemas is case sensitive as specified in the flyway docs. We needed to reference flyway.schemas= where schema_name is in caps
I am working on a migration project where we are migrating one application from Weblogic to Websphere 8.5 server.
In Weblogic server, we can specify default schema while creating datasource but I don't see same option in WebSpehere 8.5 server.
Is there any custom property through which we can set it , I tried currentSchema=MySchema but it did not work.
This answer requires significantly more work, but I'm including it because it's the designed solution to customize pretty much anything about a connection, including the schema. WebSphere Application Sever allows you to provide/extend a DataStoreHelper.
Knowledge Center document on providing a custom DataStoreHelper
In this case, you can extend com.ibm.websphere.rsadapter.Oracle11gDataStoreHelper.

The following methods will be of interest:
doConnectionSetup, which performs one-time initialization on a connection when it is first created
doConnectionCleanup, which resets connection state before returning it to the connection pool.
When you override doConnectionSetup, you are supplied with the newly created connection, upon which you can do,
super.doConnectionSetup(connection);
Statement stmt = connection.createStatement();
try {
stmt.execute(sqlToUpdateSchema);
} finally {
stmt.close();
}
doConnectionCleanup lets you account for the possibility that application code that is using the connection might switch the schema to something else. doConnectionCleanup gives you the opportunity to reset it. Again, you are supplied with a connection, upon which you can do,
super.doConnectionCleanup(connection);
Statement stmt = connection.createStatement();
try {
stmt.execute(sqlToUpdateSchema);
} finally {
stmt.close();
}
Note that in both cases, invoking the corresponding super class method is important to ensure you don't wipe out the database-specific initialization/cleanup code that WebSphere Application Server has built in based on the database.
As far as I know Weblogic only allows setting a default schema by setting the 'Init SQLto a SQL string which sets the current schema in the database, such asSQL ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA=MySchema`. So, this answer is assuming the only way to set the current schema of a data source is via SQL.
In WebSphere, the closest thing to WebLogic's Init SQL is the preTestSQLString property on WebSphere.
The idea of the preTestSQLString property is that WebSphere will execute a very simple SQL statement to verify that you can connect to your database properly when the server is starting. Typically values for this property are really basic things like select 1 from dual', but since you can put in whatever SQL you want, you could setpreTestSQLStringtoSQL ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA=MySchema`.
Steps from the WebSphere documentation (link):
In the administrative console, click Resources > JDBC providers.
Select a provider and click Data Sources under Additional properties.
Select a data source and click WebSphere Application Server data source properties under Additional properties.
Select the PreTest Connections check box.
Type a value for the PreTest Connection Retry Interval, which is measured in seconds. This property determines the frequency with which a new connection request is made after a pretest operation fails.
Type a valid SQL statement for the PreTest SQL String. Use a reliable SQL command, with minimal performance impact; this statement is processed each time a connection is obtained from the free pool.
For example, "select 1 from dual" in oracle or "SQL select 1" in SQL Server.
Universal Connection Pool (UCP) is a Java connection pool and the whitepaper "UCP with Webshere" shows how to set up UCP as a datasource.
for JDBC datasource, the steps are similar but, you can choose the default JDBC driver option.
Check out the paper for reference.
We have 2 databases. One is an oracle 11g DB and the other is a DB2 database. I need to make a query to the oracle database to get a list of accounts and feed that as parameters into another DB2 query. If the DB2 Query returns any results then I need to send an alert. Is this in any way possible with sitescope (I am fairly new to sitescope so be gentle)? It looks like there is only room for 1 connection string in the sitescope monitors. Can I create 2 monitors (one for DB2 and one for Oracle) and use the results of one query as a parameter into the other monitor? Looks like there is some monitor to monitor capabilities but still trying to understand what is possible. Thanks!
It is possible to extract the results from the first query using a custom script alert, but it is not possible than to reuse the data in another monitor.
SiteScope (SiS) Database Query monitor has no feature to include dynamically changing data in the query used. Generally speaking monitor configurations are static and can only be updated by an external agent (user or integration).
Thinking inside the box of one vendor using HP Operations Orchestration (OO) would be an option to achieve your goal. You could either use OO to run the checks and send you alerts in case of a problem or run the checks and dump the result to a file somewhere which than subsequently can be read by SiS using Script monitor or Logfile monitor.
I have created checkpoint table ggate for replicat rep1 but still I am getting following error:
2014-09-04 23:38:21 ERROR OGG-00446 Oracle GoldenGate Delivery for
Oracle, REP1.prm: Checkpoint table ggate.checkpoint does not exist.
Please create the table or recreate the REP1 group using the correct
table.
2014-09-04 23:38:21 ERROR OGG-01668 Oracle GoldenGate Delivery for
Oracle, REP1.prm: PROCESS ABENDING.
Can anyone tell me how to resolve it?
In this kind of situations you should:
Have you actually run the ADD CHECKPOINTTABLE? if not run it
Check if the checkpoint table actually exists in the database - if it has been created - try to drop it (DROP CHECKPOINTTABLE) and recreate it (ADD CHECKPOINTTABLE)
Check if the checkpoint parameter is correctly set in the GLOBALS config file
Restart the MGR and Extract/Replicat processes
Verify if the user has access on the database to the checkpoint table (insert, update, delete rights)
If nothing works, run 10046 flag on the target database and check what the GoldenGate Replicat process is executing on the database and when it actually fails (what it wants to do on the database and try to do the same commands by yourself)
This is a simple troubleshooting initiative:
Are you using a traditional non-CDB database or a PDB?
Are you using Classic Architecture or Microservices Architecture? - Different approaches when adding a checkpoint table.
How are you running ADD CHECKPOINTTABLE? From GGSCI/AdminClient or from HTML5 page?
In Classic Architecture, do you have CHECKPOINTTABLE parameter set in GLOBALS? (CHECKPOINTTABLE [container.] owner.table)
Who are you logged into the database as when using DBLOGIN USERIDALIAS?
What replicat are you using? - Classic, Coordinated, Integrated, Parallel?
Check the schema where the table is suppose to be? If not there, you can query the DBA_TABLES view for the name of the checkpoint table and see who owns it.
A lot of times when the checkpint table cannot be created it is due to not updating the GLOBALS file and/or connecting as the correct user to the database.
Do we have any way to specify default schema in cataloged DBs in db2 client in AIX.
The problem is , when it's connecting to DB, it's taking user ID as default schema and that's where it's failing.
We have too many scripts that are doing transactions to DB without specifying schema in their db2 sql statements. So it's not feasible to change scripts at all.
Also we can't create users to match schema.
You can try to type SET SCHEMA=<your schema> ; before executing your queries.
NOTE: Not sure if this work (I am without a DB2 database at the moment, but it seems that work) and depending on your DB2 version.
You can create a stored procedure that just changes the current schema and then set the SP as connect proc. You can test some conditions before make that schema change, for example if the stored procedure is executed from the AIX server directly with a given user.
You configure the database to use this SP each time a connection is established by modifying connect_proc

You can create alias in the new user schema that points to the tables with the other schema. Refer these links :
