Every week I need to download a file from an .aspx site. On the site I select the start and the end date using basic HTML input form, and I would automate this task so to avoid to have to do it manually. Is there a way to do this using wget? I'm open to other solutions
Sure it can be done with wget. Just add --post-data 'startdate=1.1.2016&enddate=1.1.2017' parameter. Change field names startdate and enddate to those on remote web form.
You can also try Selenium Web Driver that is used to automate web site testing.

I need to create an internal page where there are links to approx 10 files. These will be HR compliance forms and training manuals. Just a list of links, no frills. I started going down the sharepoint path but it seems too complex for what I need. Is there a way to create a 1 page link that will open in a web browser and just list the files in a specific folder? THe files are already stored on a network drive all users have access to. Thanks!
I tried sharepoint but it involves setting up on a server and seems too complex for my needs. T

As you know when if a stranger know the path of your SQLite database file he can easy download it. my question is how to avoid that?
I'm assuming you're accessing the SQLite database server-side. You could configure whatever host you're using (apache, nginx, etc...) to not allow access to the file or you could change the permissions to the file to only allow you to view it (using chmod).

New developer here. I'm building a website that has users play a series of games and tracks their decision making. I haven't found a good way to keep track of these users as they move through the series of games. Do you have any suggestions for the best way to do this without forcing each to make a profile?
This would be done using HTTP Cookies
Here's a tutorial on how to use them in ASP.NET MVC

Recently I've got some problems in my live site but the localhost version is fine. But live site contains some updated articles of type page/story and also comments.
So what I want to do is to move node & comment table to localhost. I'm not using comments in any custom modules.
Will moving comments & node can have any issues given some minor db settings may be different between localhost and live site versions?
Just dump the entire database. Unless you're using a module like domain access or sso you should be able to just take the entire database without it causing issues. You might want to clear the cache tables first though.
