I recently bought a drupal theme package from Themeforest. Looked great and I can't wait to get going with it but I am running into a problem. Quite a big one. After I set up my Drupal page with Acquia Dev Desktop and installed it I try adding my new theme. I am probably doing something wrong because what happens is this: it shows up in my themes on the site but the moment I set it as active, the site reload to refresh, the site breaks, and the only thing I see is a fatal error page indicating that a certain function cannot be executed. Now, I'd love to show the error but I have (for the 7th time now) set up the page again to give it another try. I am going to add two images below: one of the theme package, and one of the drupal folder on my local drive. Somebody that can help me out telling me what needs to go where (e.g. what do I need to do with the database.sql files)?
Really looking forward to your help!
Take care

Morning everyone, i'm having a super weird issue with my recent wordpress migration. I moved the (working) site to another webspace and i'm slowly running out of ideas (jk, already ran out).
Issue: After the migration, the plugin Visual Composer is outputting nonsense image links to the frontend that look like this: https://i.imgur.com/7RocCmE.png instead of the uploaded images url. Result: No images are showing on the frontend.
This issue only happens when i use the single image block provided by VC itself. Inputting an image the wordpress way, inside of a text block, works.
What could be the reason for this? i'm super thankful for any advice since i'm not a programmer.
I have already tried:
Enabling wp debug, not getting any errors
Installing different versions of Visual Composer, multiple times
Reinstalling Wordpress, multiple times
disabling all plugins
completely reinstalling and reuploading everything from scratch
different php versions
As I saw in your screenshot with the src attribute of your image and it has data-src attribute also, I think that it's because the new site (or maybe the new hosting) is using lazy load which will update all images source of the site to the lazy load image for better performance.
Lazy load images mean that the image won't load at the beginning, when you start to scroll down to each section, the images of this section will be loaded. In this way, the site will be optimized and won't load many resources at the beginning.
I think you can:
Check if there is any cache plugin installed, try to deactivate this plugin.
Check with the hosting provider if there is any cache setting installed, try to deactivate this setting also.
See if the image is working in the backend or not, if it's still loaded in the backend, I'm pretty sure that it's the cache issue. If it doesn't load in the backend, I think there is something wrong with your theme source code.
Compare the hosting environment, especially the PHP version of the old and new site to see if there is any differences.
I recently moved a wordpress website from one host to another and my homepage doesn't load. Its a standard homepage that shows my latest posts.
I tried disabling plugins and changing themes, but it still doesn't load up. Other pages on the website load up properly via direct link, but not the homepage.
Has anyone ever faced this? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
How are you trying to access the homepage?
Please make sure you have set the homepage as your front page under General -> Reading settings page.
See this image
Start troubleshooting from the very first thing go to setting and check whether the front static page is set with desired home page or not, secondly go to permalinks set it to default then reset to desired structure, third go to general setting double check the website new URL mention there is exactly same. After checking all these elements problem still existing so I must recommend you to re import the complete website all over again to avoid future hassles. There is nothing big rocket science behind migration you can use All-in-One WP Migration or follow the 3 steps WordPress migration guide. Sometime its happens when database or the core files are not import properly WordPress usually back fire many errors and exceptions.
I’m using the latest version of Wordpress (4.7.4).
I have something very weird going on in my Dashboard. Not sure when this started.
Can’t say for sure it started with the latest version of Wordpress or not.
My Dashboard became completely useless.
It’s like it’s showing me a flashback of a Dashboard from a few days or hours ago:
Comments I’ve deleted in the Dashboard (hitting “trash”) are suddenly back there, awaiting my moderation.
Plugins I’ve deactivated or even deleted are all back there and according to Dashboard still running (while in my FTP folder they’re certainly gone).
The plugin page cannot be trusted anymore as it shows some plugins are activated that aren’t and vice versa. I have to check on my actual website to confirm which ones are running.
Updates aren’t shown correctly. Once I’ve updated a plugin, a few minutes later it shows me again that there’s a new update.
As you can tell it’s all pretty much the same phenomenon.
It’s as if I’m seeing an older version of my Dashboard.
Not sure what else is broken.
The only other thing I noticed is that even on my actual blog I still see a comment. Blog post says “1 comment”, but the actual comment doesn’t show up.
At first, this all sounds like a “cache problem”.
But I’ve already turned off all caching:
No caching plugin installed
Turned off server caching via htaccess
Disabled leverage browser caching
Emptied my own browser cache
Other things I tested:
Turn off all plugins.
Switch to the standard Wordpress theme “Twenty Twelve”
I tried WP_DEBUG, but nothing related shows up.
I researched the internet, but nobody has described a similar problem, so I suppose this is not a common Wordpress issue.
The issue remains.
Unfortunately I’m not a developer and don’t know too much about the Wordpress codex etc.
But to me it sounds that the mistake is definitely not in the plugin or theme folder.
The problem is that I’ve reached the point where I really cannot turn off plugins via Dashboard properly anymore. It’s so annyoing!
My questions are:
Is it safe to assume that this is related to the Wordpress core
files?
What files exactly are in “charge of” the Dashboard?
Should I just try to re-download the newest Wordpress version and replace a few files (if so which ones)?
Should I do a clean Wordpress re-install or would that be too drastic?
Any other suggestions?
EDIT:
Additionally I tried now:
I manually downloaded the newest version of Wordpress and did just as
described on the Wordpress.org website. I manually replaced wp-admin,
wp-include folders and all root files. The issue remains...
The way my Dashboard is right now, I really can’t use it.
Please advice!
I contacted my host service again.
They just gave me the same line to insert into my .htaccess file and I told them I already tried it and it didn't work.
I then showed them my .htaccess file and they deleted the whole part that concerned their server caching.
Now server caching is completely off and everything works again.
Still not sure why this previously never caused issues.
In the end, it had nothing to do with Wordpress.
I hope this answer will help people who run into similar problems.
I am a freelance developer, and I normally build sites from scratch without using any code generating sites like WordPress or Square Space. But my current client insists on using WordPress. However, I am rescuing this project from a previous developer who made a big mess because from the looks of it does not seem like they knew what they were doing.
Is there a way for me to restart everything, on a clean slate and template on WordPress? I would like to have none of what the previous developer has done. Also is there a way for me do do direct coding using HTML, CSS, JavaScript etc on a WordPress site?
Yes, you just need to look into how to create a theme, since themes are the basis of the Wordpress structure. Ultimately, if you have the code for a website, it can be broken into separate files that Wordpress can use.
See: http://www.wpexplorer.com/create-wordpress-theme-html-1/
If the previous developer has done all the work in the theme files, then simply switching the theme to a default theme (Like Twenty Sixteen) will give you a nice clean slate to dig in and jump off with. You will want to create a child theme of any existing theme if you want to make any changes. If, however, the developer has messed with other files besides the theme folder, then you will most likely want to export the content only (as a logged-in administrator, go to Tools > Export (here's a screenshot))
Then on a new environment (I prefer testing these things first on a local virtual environment like VVV, and then transition to a development subdomain on the same server that the site will eventually go live on and securing it with an htaccess user/password to block curious eyes), import the content on a fresh installation of wordpress via the same menu (Tools > Import). This will give you a fresh installation with the content that's been created, but without any of the mess.
For more information about importing content - here's the codex article.
I hope that's a good start - but if I've glossed over anything you don't understand, let me know - I'm happy to help.
My wordpress blog was working perfectly fine, until one day when suddenly my blog got down. All I could see was a blank white page. I still don't know the reason.
But initially, I was able to figure out the Debug messages, which were some compatibility issues between prototype of function Walker() and some theme function extending Walker(). So, I somehow managed to resolve those issues, by changing the theme function prototype.
But still, I could only view a blank page without any error. Then, I went through my child theme files and I found that there was some PHP code written to upload image file in child "style.css". Fortunately, I had backup of my Blog so I restored my child style.css.
After so many efforts, I still couldn't restore my complete Blog.
Although, All the posts and everything is there in DB, but I can't see any post on my Blog and Admin panel. It seems that my created categories are no longer there in Admin panel, when I restored theme.
Can anyone please help me to find out...
Why it happened and How my blog got reset ?
How can I restore my blog and reflect all my posts from DB to Admin-panel & Blog ?
It looks like somebody hacked you up. And, edited some files on your server.
Wordpress, actually doesn't offer any backup features. But, most of the web hosting services have a usual backup option. So, you might consider that.
Or, if your Wordpress database is right in place, as before, then you the possible error is that your Wordpress core files are corrupted or edited by anyone. So, you might consider, deleting your Wordpress and reinstalling it, (without deleting your databases). This would not affect your blog at all, because all Wordpress information is stored in the databases. But, remember to backup the files of wp-content folder and copy them to your new installation.
