Tomcat 8 "Failed to start component"

I have written a Spring MVC application and it failed to get loaded in Tomcat 8.0 and the server throws the below exception. I have tried options like re creating the tomcat instance and the option of deleting the packaged application in maven .m2 directory and installing it again.
From the exception message I am not able to figure out the problem. Can someone help to resolve this. Thank you!

Check the exception in detail, especially the "Caused by" part. It definitely helps you to find the cause.
Also if you are using maven, check the maven dependency tree if there are any jar files with different version, especially servlet jar.
Add "-verbose to the list of JVM_OPTS in tomcat "bin/wrapper.conf" if on windows
wrapper.java.additional.11="-verbose". This will help you to find the root cause
I have same problem like ,

When i run my application, nothing errors found but in stacktrace it not showing text row that inform controllers were loaded. So when i hit the link, i got 404 error. Anyone can help me?!
Removing log4j12 dependency in pom.xml file resolved my problem.
<dependency>
<groupId>org.slf4j</groupId>
<artifactId>slf4j-log4j12</artifactId>
<version>1.7.5</version>
</dependency>
You didn't shared how you started your application.
For any spring web application you have to provide the configuration for DispatcherServlet in your application.
Method 1
You could put below mapping in your web.xml file
<servlet>
<servlet-name>myWebApp</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet</servlet-class>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>myWebApp</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
Method 2
You could register a bean implementing interface WebApplicationInitializer and could register DispatcherServlet programmatically
Now bean configuration file name should be {servlet-name}-servlet.xml
So for above servlet, bean configuration file name should be myWebApp-servlet.xml
Or if you want to customize the name of your bean configuration file, then you can mention it inside the web.xml as below
<servlet>
<servlet-name>myWebApp</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet</servlet-class>
<init-param>
<param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name>
<param-value>/WEB-INF/spring-mvc-config.xml</param-value>
</init-param>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>myWebApp</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>

Quartz + Spring double execution on startup

I have Quartz 2.2.1 and Spring 3.2.2. app on Eclipse Juno
This is my bean configuration:

My problem is that always when startup my application, Quartz creates two jobs at the same time. My job must be execute every 30 seconds:

Thanks for your help.
Your ContextLoaderListener and DispatcherServlet are both loading the mvc-dispatcher-servlet.xml. Basically duplicating all your beans resulting in 2 executions as that is also duplicated.
Split your configuration into one that is being loaded by the ContextLoaderListener (containing your services, dao, timers etc.) and one loaded by the DispatcherServlet (containing only web related beans controllers, view resovlers etc.).
Or ditch the ContextLoaderListener altogether and only use the DispatcherServlet to load everything.
Make sure you are not loading both the files in your web.xml file for your project. If you load the spring-quartz.xml file separately, and then load the servlet-config.xml file separately that "imports" the spring-quartz.xml file, then you are loading the file twice which would result in 2 instances of your scheduler. The easy fix would be to either (1) ensure you are not loading spring-quartz.xml in your web.xml file OR (2) remove the import statement in your other xml file.
Updated: Thanks for showing us the web.xml to rule that out. After closer inspection of your xml files, you are setting up the SchedulerFactoryBean with both the job details and the trigger. This is your problem. The job details are included as part of your trigger, so putting them in again causes it to be scheduled twice. Please read the documentation on these two links about the setJobDetails() method:
http://docs.spring.io/spring/docs/2.5.6/api/org/springframework/scheduling/quartz/SchedulerFactoryBean.html
http://docs.spring.io/spring/docs/2.5.6/api/org/springframework/scheduling/quartz/SchedulerAccessor.html#setJobDetails%28org.quartz.JobDetail[]%29
http://docs.spring.io/spring/docs/2.5.6/api/org/springframework/scheduling/quartz/SchedulerAccessor.html#setTriggers%28org.quartz.Trigger[]%29
Excerpt of important info:
setJobDetails
public void setJobDetails(JobDetail[] jobDetails)
Register a list of JobDetail objects with the Scheduler that this FactoryBean creates, to be referenced by Triggers.
This is not necessary when a Trigger determines the JobDetail itself: In this case, the JobDetail will be implicitly registered in combination with the Trigger.
The solution would be to remove the jobDetails from the SchedulerFactoryBean like this:
<bean class="org.springframework.scheduling.quartz.SchedulerFactoryBean">
<property name="triggers">
<list>
<ref bean="checkAndRouteDocumentsTaskTrigger" />
</list>
</property>
</bean>

Tomcat7 deploy Fail: org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: Failed to start component /w org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet

I have a very sample web.xml written below:
The problem is...If I remove org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet section, I can successfully deploy my project in Tomcat7 as a simple JSP-Servlet app. However, once I use Spring MVC, my deployment will FAIL - Encountered exception org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: Failed to start component [StandardEngine[Catalina].StandardHost[localhost].StandardContext[/WebMVCProj2]]
How can I fix this error?

I add Spring MVC dependency from Enterprise Bundle Repository (EBR). I also use Eclipse Dynamic Web Module 3.0 which Tomcat7 should support. My jre is 1.6.x 64bits used by Tomcat and my project. I also use Web Deployment Assembly in Eclipse.
Here is my complete exception:

You should have applicationContext.xml in web-inf folder or you have to define contextConfigLocation in your web.xml
<!-- Spring Context -->
<context-param>
<param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name>
<param-value>classpath:/application-contexts/*.xml</param-value>
</context-param>
<listener>
<listener-class>org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener</listener-class>
</listener>
It would be more helpful, if you could post exception trace.
you can check your servlet class is having any annotation like #WebServlet(". I resolved the similar issue by removing the annotation in servlet class.
