Why I cannot load KML file made in My maps to my site ?
here is the code i'm using

I have tested the kml file on google validator and it's ok. The kml file is public as I've read here in another post.

This works. Try specifying the center of the area of interest if it does not auto-jump to the region as defined in KML.

I am changing the icon for the current selected marker with something like this:

Could anyone advise me on how to do this? What I was trying to find was a list of the different (default) icons that are available, and find the standard one?
To set the default icon, call marker.setIcon(null).
i.e.:

You are either having the firebug console open when loading the page or one of firefox extension clogging the downloading, making the browser can not get full script from google.
Solution: turn of firebug console, if that's not the case, then try disable the extensions individually see what conflict.
Just add the v3 for example as release version ,and it will work with firebug and any other extension

Google Maps API: TypeError: a is undefined
The google.maps.LatLng constructor takes two arguments. This is wrong:
var position = new google.maps.LatLng(data.geocode);
If data.geocode is already a google.maps.LatLng object, just use it. If it is a JSON object with lat and lng properties, then you have to pass those separately into the constructor:
var position = new google.maps.LatLng(data.geocode.lat, data.geocode.lng);
code for your specific data:

I have been trying to implement markerclusterer into my website for the past few weeks and everything I have tried has failed. I have no experience with code at all so everything I've been doing is trial and error.

I think you have not added the 'map' object while creating the markers inside the map.
This is your code:

I think the problem is simply that the coordinates you give for the marker are out of the map boundaries. You can see it if you zoom out a bit.

Since v3 require api key what's wrong with it? I checked in google chrome and firefox but no clue.
Looks like you are missing a closing html tag, unless that is a typo.
Add this </html> at the bottom of the page.
You need to provide a center location to create your map. In your initialize() function change the map options to include the location you want to start with:

When (or if) you get a location from the geolocation service the center will be changed by your code.

I ended up using a slightly different implementation to get this to work:

The part that I had to add to get it to work from other (nearly identical) versions of this, was the () at the end of loadScript(). The implicit function call simply was not happening.
You will need to replace {{API_KEY}} with your own. I am not sure if this is required, but it was part of what led me to a working implementation.
