I have an issue with my Arduino device where it simply stops printing to serial and the Wifi console output is just garbage text/weird characters. Here example codes of it working and when it's not working:

What I have tried:
Reset
Firmware Update
Unplug/Replug device
Change port

Restart/Reset WiFi
Garbage text WiFi console:

Try resetting [connectivity] parameters. Click on [CONNECTIVITY], then fill in:
Server port: 1883
Client ID: arduino
Client Timeout: 2
Keep Alive: 60
Topic: arduino
[v] ENABLE SLIP...
Click on both [UPDATE] buttons, and ensure that parameters are registered.

Good afternoon,
I am trying to communicate through WiFi with ESP8266 module on Arduino. So far I have succeded to make my hardware setup and a very basic communication in between Arduino and ESP8266 module. I am using SoftwareSerial library to communicate, however the data outputs printed to the Serial seems quite corrupted, even though the module succesfully connects.
When I sent AT+CWJAP="AndroidAP","52689785" on Serial console, this is the output:

Most of the ESP8266 modules will be working better at 115200 baud rate.
The reason for gibberish output can be:
either you may be viewing output at 9600 baud rate

so I got my Arduino Uno today. For a porject I want to be able to control some relays on my Arduino via Wifi (via Blynk app). For this I want to use the ESP8266-01 as a Wifi shield.

Only difference is I'm using Win10. Here is what I got:
Arduino Uno R3
Arduino IDE 1.8.1
included all Blynk/ESP libraries and installed ESP8266 as board (generic)
uploaded empty sketch to the Arduino
Connections to Between Arduino/ESP as follows . http://www.teomaragakis.com/hardware/electronics/how-to-connect-an-esp8266-to-an-arduino-uno/ (I know about to 3.3V to 5V issue but seems to work so far)
Okay, first problem is that I couldnt flash the Firmware of the ESP (got it from Sunfounder) as said in the Tutorial. Downloaded the latest firmware and flashed it with ESP8266Flasher.
Other Problem that is when I try to compile the code from the first tutorial, I always get error :
C:\Users\Chris\Documents\Arduino\libraries\Blynk\examples\Boards_WiFi\ESP8266_Shield\ESP8266_Shield.ino:5:21: fatal error: ESP8266.h: No such file or directory
As said I have installed all libraries. Cant really think of things to do anymore. Any help would be much appreciated. Best regards from Berlin, Chris.

So I recently bought the Arduino Wifi Shield 101. I went through the getting started steps, and just copied and pasted their "scan for networks" code. The code that I used is down below. So to help you guys help me, I should say my school's wifi is wpa2 encrypted. However, the code is simply looking for possible networks to connect to. The code runs fine until it gets to the "Wifi.macAddress(mac)" line. I don't understand why the code stops working here. There aren't any errors in compiling or uploading, the code just seems to not be working. Im obviously a beginner with the arduino wifi board, so any help at all would be great.

Are you powering the boards via USB? If so, you're likely experiencing an under-power issue.

As it turns out, my board was simply under-powered as I was using a USB port rather than a wall outlet. I actually ended up using a different USB port and the scanNetworks example now works for me.
EDIT Actually, as it turns out, it was the USB cable. Either way, power was the issue.
I would recommend powering the board via a wall wart or choosing a different USB port and trying again.
I am a newbie with Arduino Mega 2560 .I have been trying to connect the Arduino and SIM900A module(GSM/GPRS module).I have connected the USB to my PC(Serial instance) and pins 18(Tx) and 19(Rx) to Rx and Tx in the GSM/GPRS module respectively and the GND pin(GSM/GPRS) module's is connected to GND,one near pin 13 in the Arduino.
Power connection:-
I am powering using 12V supplies for each of the boards.

I am able to get the initial response in the "Serial Monitor" like (+CFUN:1,+CPIN:READY)(Once I open the Serial monitor I used to press the reset in the GSM/GPRSmodule).
But when I type some AT commands in the Serial Monitor,I am not able to get the response like "OK" from the GPRS/GSM Module.
Please let me know what I should be doing for getting the responses back from GSM/GPRS module.
Have you tried cutting out the Arduino, for just a moment? Get yourself a UART and wire up TX/RX to the GMS respectively. Then plug it into your PC and launch terminal (Tera Term, etc.).
Try issuing some AT commands and make sure you're getting correct responses/echos. You may also want to try a tool called QNavigator (free download).
I have been unable to use the serial monitor with the Arduino YUN, I can download the compiled sketch with IDE 1.5.5 (on Windows XP via the USB connector that appears as COM6), the serial monitor opens but displays nothing. In order to investigate I modified the Blink example sketch as follows:

The sketch upoloads and runs, I see the LED blinking, it does not wait for SerialMonitor to open. The SerialMonitor displays nothing. I have noticed that during the upload COM6 disappers from the Windows device manager, a new port COM7 appears, the upload completes successfully, COM7 disappears and COM6 reappears.
I have also found that the YunSerialTerminal example is not working.
Do other people have successfully used the IDE 1.5.5 SerialMonitor on Windows XP?
Should I conclude that my Arduino Yun board is malfunctioning?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem. A reset on 32U4 solved the problem (the button on the left top corner, next to the Ethernet connector). The serial port appeared on the arduino 1.5.x IDE and the connection was established and the data received.
Bridge and Console should be used when the selected port is the wifi one, not the real serial port.

Try to change your USB cable(needs to be USB data cable) and Port settings in Arduino IDE. Tools-->Port-->COM6(Arduino Yun).
This solved my problem in Windows.
