just was wondering how could I update an app actually in use, so could not unistall it, so without losing data. Whats the best way? There is an automated feature for this?
Thanks
At the moment there is no automatic feature for this. This is something that can never be fully automated, because an app can be changed in so many ways 2sxc could never automatically figure out how to merge.
I'll try to write a guide some time, but in general there are three quick strategies: if only the views/templates changed, just replace them. If way more changed you could export-import the content-items from "old" to "new" - or you could export/import the schemas from "new" to "old"

I'm building a Iceberg tables on the top of a data lake. These tables are used for reporting tools. I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to control a version/deploy changes to these tables in CI/CD process. E.g. I could like to add a column to the Iceberg table. To do that I have to write a ALTER TABLE statement, save it to the git repository and deploy via CI/CD pipeline. Tables are accessible via AWS Glue Catalog.
I couldn't find to much info about this in google so if anyone could share some knowledge, it would be much appreciated.
Cheers.
Version control of Iceberg tables.
Agree with #Fokko Driesprong. This is a supplement only.
Sometimes, table changes are considered as part of task version changes. That is, table change statements, ALTER TABLE, are bound to task upgrades.
Tasks are sometimes automatically deployed. So it often executes a table change statement first, and then deploys a new task. If the change is disruptive, then we need to stop the old task first and then deploy the new one.
Corresponding to the upgrade, we also have a rollback script, of course, the corresponding table change statement.
thanks for asking this question. I don't think there is a definitive way of doing this. In practice I see most people bundling this as part of the job that writing to the Iceberg table. This way you can make sure that new columns are populated right away with the new version of the job. If you don't do any breaking changes (such as deletion of column), then the downstream jobs won't break. Hope this helps!
how are you. For a while I've been working for a Gynecologist building her a data base. For the project I am using Firebase and JavaScript. The database is for her to keep track of their patients and she keeps reports on each one of them. I am almost done with the job, the UI is almost finished, the core functionalities of the database (save data, delete, retreive, and update) are up and running but I am stuck in one little thing. She asked me for a way to turn those reports she keeps in the database into a format like PDF so she can print them and give them in case needed to her patients. The thing is that Ive tried with html2pdf, a git repository that works kind of clunky, and tried looking for others but I still cant find one that works correctly. So I wanted to ask you guys if you know of some alternatives. I started thinking about using EXCEl or Word document. But either way it seems quite complicated. Thank you for your time.
Best to all.
We have a couple of relatively simple websites running on Adobe CQ 5.5 that were developed by a third party. I'm pretty familiar with how CQ works, but I'm working with somebody else's code here and I need to be able to search through all components in the system for a particular string.
The issue is that I can't seem to find a way to search across all of the various .jsp files stored with the various system components. I would have figured that the query tool in CRXDE Lite would have done the trick with something like this:
/jcr:root//*[jcr:contains(., 'Find this exact string in a JSP')] order by #jcr:score
But I've had no luck.
What I am looking for is some sort of global search that includes JSP files. Is that possible? Were I using a regular Java system, any IDE worth the download would be able to do this.
Thanks.
Might not be easiest way, but you can use the VLT tool to checkout the repository into your filesystem. Then you can lookup using whatever tool you prefer. It might even be faster in the long run
I don't have the actual answer but I suppose the JSPs are indexed via a filter that strips out some of their content.
It should be possible to configure the repository to index them as is instead, based on the info at http://wiki.apache.org/jackrabbit/IndexingConfiguration and http://jackrabbit.apache.org/jackrabbit-text-extractors.html
Sorry about the vagueness of this answer - I know the basic principles but to provide the details I would need more time than I can afford now ;-)
My team now has an SVN + Ankh setup in ASP.NET with trunk, branches, and tags. We switch branches and work on code, but many times there will be inexplicable conflicts in files after simple changes. Why is this? I suspect we simply don't understand enough of how this works. Are there any do's and don'ts, or how should we be approaching our daily changes and commits, without causing conflicts? Is there a basic pecking order of operations to perform to achieve SVN zen? Are we updating before committing or something? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Always update before commit. If you really work with branches don't use switch or only if you really undstand the switch command and how it works otherwise checkout a branch into a fresh working copy in other words create a new one.
Always branch, merge on the solution element, make sure you're fully up to date before merging (ankhsvn will warn about this), also make sure you have no modified files before merging.
Read up on svnbook for when to use normal merging and when to use reintegrate.
Finally, if a conflict does occur, make sure you have a good 3way merge tool to solve the conflict. AnkhSVN recognizes a lot of them automatically, but I really like source gear diffmerge
I'm trying to figure out the best way to deal with database updates with Linq. I'd like a clean way to checking database changes. I'd like to use a ruby style migration scripts, but I'd also like to keep everything in sync with the DBML file. What is the best way to do this? Do I need to write a custom solution to do this?
I assume you mean changes in schema? If so, a custom code generator is certainly one option and a better one than manually updating the DBMLs every time schema changes. But there are third party tools out there to sync schema changes, as well:
http://www.huagati.com/dbmltools/
if you are willing to go away from LINQ as a data access model, there are OR/M tools, or OR/M like tools, that give you control over code generation.
