Removing that annoying white background from thumbnails in Bootstrap 3 - css

I have created small piece of code where it shows 4 thumbnails in a row of equal grid width.
.row-content-3 {
background-color: rgba(0,0,0,0.8) !important;
color: #fff;
margin:0px auto;
padding: 50px 0px 50px 0px;
min-height:200px;
}
<script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap-theme.min.css" rel="stylesheet"/>
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet"/>
<div class="row row-content-3">
<div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-3 col-md-3 col-lg-3">
<div class="thumbnail">
<a href="#">
<img src="http://www.theo-android.co.uk/github-images/fair1.png" class="img-circle" alt="Larissa's fair">
</a>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-3 col-md-3 col-lg-3">
<div class="thumbnail">
<a href="#">
<img src="http://www.theo-android.co.uk/github-images/fair2.png" class="img-circle" alt="Larissa's fair">
</a>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-3 col-md-3 col-lg-3">
<div class="thumbnail">
<a href="#">
<img src="http://www.theo-android.co.uk/github-images/fair3.png" class="img-circle" alt="Larissa's fair">
</a>
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-3 col-md-3 col-lg-3">
<div class="thumbnail">
<a href="#">
<img src="http://www.theo-android.co.uk/github-images/fair4.png" class="img-circle" alt="Larissa's fair">
</a>
</div>
</div>
</div>
If you run the code,you will notice that there is a white background which needs to be removed. I put this css simple code,but it didn't work:(.
.thumbnail {
border: 0;
}
Also I am giving you the jsfiddle.
Any ideas,
Thanks Theo.

If i am not wrong then you wanted to remove the white background from the circle image back only.
I Added this
.thumbnail {
border: 0;
background: transparent;
}
And you can see there is box shadow too. You can remove that by using
box-shadow: none;
Updated fiddle: https://jsfiddle.net/udgw71no/6/

Give background color as transparent for thumbnail class
.thumbnail {
border: 0;
background-color:transparent;
}
Updated fiddle : https://jsfiddle.net/affaz/udgw71no/8/

Looking for this ?
.thumbnail {
border: 0;
background: transparent;
-webkit-box-shadow: none;
box-shadow: none;
}
Demo

remove background of thumbnail but to make it working.
.row-content-3 {
background-color: rgba(0,0,0,0.8) !important;
color: #fff;
margin:0px auto;
padding: 50px 0px 50px 0px;
min-height:200px;
}
.thumbnail {
background: none !important;
border: 0 !important;
}

</div>
<div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-3 col-md-3 col-lg-3">
<div class="thumbnail">

</div>
<div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-3 col-md-3 col-lg-3">
<div class="thumbnail">
<a href="#">

</div>
</div>
<div class="col-xs-12 col-sm-3 col-md-3 col-lg-3">
<div class="thumbnail">

<img src="http://www.theo-android.co.uk/github-images/fair4.png" class="img-circle" alt="Larissa's fair">
</a>
</div>
</div>
</div>

Setting the following styles should do it:
.thumbnail {
background-color: transparent;
border: none;
}

CSS vertically space even divs in IE 11

I was creating a layout which worked in the latest updated browsers (Firefox, Chrome, ...) and then opened the layout in IE 11 and saw a difference. My layout in IE looks like this:
But in every other tested browser the space on the right sided divs is evenly between them, which means that the third div stays on the bottom, while the second divs is right in the middle. I can't get it working in IE 11 and hoped that someone from here has a good advice.

Bootstrap grid image problem height elements

I'm not very good in CSS, and so I don't know how to solve my problem. I've a grid images (you can see at https://i.imgur.com/88yDcbN.png). As you can see the first image (I selected) has useless white space below.
How can I move the image below so that there are 50px difference?
Actually I use these classes for my box:
col-sm-6 col-md-4
I'm using bootstrap as you can see.
The other divs inside the col-sm-6 col-md-4 have the right height.
Thank you for your help!
Example box:
<div class="_00d7">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-sm-6 col-md-4">
<div data-id="11" data-score="4380" class="_4180">
<a class="eac1">
<img src="images/E8wfc3V4Azc.jpg">
</a>
<div class="_96ae">
Punteggio immagine: <b>4380</b>.
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
CSS:
._00d7 ._4180 {
padding: 0;
margin-bottom: 30px;
background-color: #fff;
border-radius: 4px;
border: none;
transition: 0.15s ease-in-out;
box-shadow: 0 8px 15px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.06);
border-bottom: 1px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.0975);
}
._00d7 .eac1 img {
border-radius: 4px 4px 0 0;
vertical-align: middle;
border-style: none;
margin-right: auto;
margin-left: auto;
display: block;
max-width: 100%;
height: auto;
}
(sorry for classes names, I'm using react)
For that particular layout (a Mansonry-like layout) Bootstrap4 give you a solution: use Card columns: https://getbootstrap.com/docs/4.0/components/card/#card-columns.
I give you an example. This is only a start point, you can customize as you want.

How to remove the extra space around the image inside a div

I have images inside bootstrap card div which are inside col div
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.0.0-alpha.6/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" />
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-8 col-lg-8 B">

<div class="col-md-4 col-lg-4 row">

</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
I would like to have image on all col div space.
How could I achieve that ?
How could I extend image in order to fill the gap that I represent by a black line
As you describe you just want to consume all the space inside the col div (Left and Right blank space).
What you have to do is to reduce the default padding of bootstrap columns of padding-left: 15px; padding-right: 15px to 0px. And it will work for you.
Sometimes your styles get overloaded by the bootstrap styles. So in that case you have to use the keyword !important with your CSS property to overload all other CSS styles define for that particular property.
.zero-padding {
padding: 0px !important;
}
And to force the image to use all the space inside the col div you have to use the following CSS.
.fill-space {
height: 100%;
display: flex;
justify-content: center;
align-items: center;
overflow: hidden;
}
.fill-space img {
flex-shrink: 0;
min-width: 100%;
min-height: 100%;
}
In order to force the images on the right side to take the 50% of height to the above 2 images and 50% of height to the image below; you should use the following CSS.
.half-height{
height: 50%;
}
OUTPUT:
Working Snippet below:
.zero-padding {
padding: 0px !important;
}
.fill-space {
height: 100%;
display: flex;
justify-content: center;
align-items: center;
overflow: hidden;
}
.fill-space img {
flex-shrink: 0;
min-width: 100%;
min-height: 100%;
}
.half-height{
height: 50%;
}

In the past, I've used a little javascript to achieve this. Making the image hidden but using it as a full background.
$(function() {
$('.full-image').each(function() {
var img = $(this).find('img');
$(this).css('background-image', 'url(' + img.attr('src') + ')');
img.css('visibility', 'hidden');
});
});
.full-image-wrapper {
position: relative;
border-radius: 3px;
overflow: hidden;
min-height: 120px !important;
}
.full-image {
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
right: 0;
bottom: 0;
background-size: cover;
background-position: center center;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<link href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/4.0.0-alpha.6/css/bootstrap.min.css" rel="stylesheet" />
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-8 col-lg-8 B">
<div class="card card-inverse" style="background-color: #333; border-color: #333;">
<img class="img-fluid" src="http://lorempicsum.com/rio/800/500/4" alt="Responsive image">

</div>
<div class="col-md-4 col-lg-4 row">
<div class="col-md-6 col-lg-6 B full-image-wrapper">
<div class="full-image">
<img class="img-fluid" src="http://lorempicsum.com/rio/800/500/4" alt="Responsive image">
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-md-6 col-lg-6 B full-image-wrapper">
<div class="full-image">
<img class="img-fluid" src="http://lorempicsum.com/rio/800/500/4" alt="Responsive image">

This will still work without JavaScript. You might need to do a bit more work to make mobile/tablet views optimal. I've had to force min-height to override bootstrap behaviour.

pure CSS lightbox issue

I'm working on a CSS photo gallery in CSS only and I've got a problem. I try to do a lightbox with 5 elements (pictures) and it worked perfectly. But when I want to add some new pictures, it doesn't work anymore and I don't know why. It's just like the last picture was displayed in full size in front of the other elements from the page (but with hidden property). So I see the page but I can't click the links...
Here is the code :

Bootstrap Grid fit images to same height

My problem is that the heights of rows / columns does not fit. The first column has the class col-sm-8 and the second the class col-sm-4
The second class col-sm-4 has another two rows, each with col-sm-12 classes.
I have looked for some Masonry similar jQuery Plugins but I want to stay at CSS. How can I solve this heights and keep responsivity?
