Log file is created if an absolute path is provided in the log4j.properties in a runnable jar created using eclipse. However, if relative file path is given , file is not created
log4j.appender.appLogger=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender
log4j.appender.appLogger.File=.//logs//MyApp.log
Please correct this in your log4j.properties.
log4j.appender.appLogger.File=/logs/MyApp.log
For example:
In Ubuntu(Linux).
/home/bizruntime/Desktop/logs/MyApp.log
In Windows.
C:\\Desktop\logs\MyApp.log
If i have my log file in some folder of Desktop i need to specific the exact path.

Try to set chdir=TRUE.
This will change the working directory to the directory of the file being sourced.
`source("../myfunction.r", chdir=TRUE)`
I am trying to add my R script into a dockerfile. The beginning of the file (loading base image, installing necessary packages) works fine when I run it in my terminal, but I keep getting this error when it gets to the line that contains the R script I want to run:
Step 15/17 : COPY /Users/emma/Documents/folder1/examples/question-1/model-1.r .
COPY failed: stat /var/lib/docker/tmp/docker-builder376572603/Users/emma/Documents/folder1/examples/question-1/model-1.r: no such file or directory
I am already running the terminal out of the "question-1" directory (my shell command looks like this) :
Emmas-MacBook-Air-2:question-1 emma$
and the R script file "model-1.r" is in that folder. What am I doing wrong in detailing the path to the R script? Do I have to somehow transform the script before adding it to the dockerfile?

I believe, that you have to specify relative (to your build folder) path to copy from. Source:
Multiple resources may be specified but the paths of files and directories will be interpreted as relative to the source of the context of the build.
And file to copy should be inside context of the build. So if your Dockerfile is located in folder A, then the objects you would like to copy should be placed in the folder A or it's subfolders.
I am using Choose File keyword to upload file. In documentation is written that I can use ${CURDIR} to set the path to my file, but it means that this file has to be in the same directory ${CURDIR}/filename.txt. But how to set the path to the file that exists in another directory?
Use ${EXECDIR} so you go back to the root and go from there.
Recently I encountered a problem when using exe4j to package the jar into exe. My xml configuration file is placed in the same directory of the exe, but after the package is completed, the exe will look for the xml file from the temporary folder.

The error when i running the exe :

Why is the program not looking for this xml from the exe's sibling directory, and how can I find it from this directory?
If you are using the "JAR in EXE" mode, use
System.getPrpoerty("install4j.exeDir")
to get the parent directory of the executable.
I have a problem regarding exporting my Java project into a jar file.
I have this file (application.properties) which contains some database information and located under the project root directory.
There is no problem when running this project on Eclipse. But after exporting into a jar(Runnable Jar file) file, application.properties will not be included in the packaging and that cause the error.
Any suggestion how to fix this problem?
Do you want to have the application.properties reside outside the jar (for writing), or is it read-only? When outside you can have an initial template file in the jar, and copy it to some location.
