Please help me to find a WebDriver method (I use Java) for obtaining a text from an element without trimming its beginning and ending spaces.
HTML for example:
<input id="pageBean" title="Elsevier ScienceDirect " value="Elsevier ScienceDirect " type="text">
"get" of title or value returns trimmed "Elsevier ScienceDirect". But I need this space!
Thank you in advance!
Ilana.
Are you using getAttribute(..)? I tried getAttribute("title") and got the trailing space as you desire. Same for value. Tested with Selenium v2.53.1.

I need to concatenate two strings within an R object: one is just regular text; the other is italicized. So, I tried a lot of combinations, e.g.
paste0(" This is Regular", italic( This is Italics))
The desired result should be:
This is Regular This is Italics
Any ideia on how to do it?
Thanks!
In plot labels, you can use expressions, see mathematical annotation :
plot(1,xlab=expression("This is regular"~italic("this is italic")))
To provide an string for which an HTML parser will recognise the need to render the text in Italics, wrap the text in <i> and </i>. For example: "This is plain text, but <i>this is in Italics</i>.".
However, most HTML processors will assume that you want your text to appear as-is and will escape their input by default. This means that the special meanings of certain characters - including < and > will be "turned off". You need to tell the processor not to do this. How you do that will depend on context. I can't tell you that because you haven't given me context.
Are you for example, writing to a raw HTML file? (You need do nothing.) Are you writing to a Markdown file? If so, how? In plain text or in a rendered chunk? Are you writing a caption to a graphic? (Waldi has suggested a solution.) Etc, etc....
I have a csv, and each line reads as follows:
"http://www.videourl.com/video,video title,video duration,thumbnail,<iframe src=""http://embed.videourl.com/video"" frameborder=0 width=510 height=400 scrolling=no> </iframe>,tag 1,tag 2",,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Is there a program I can use to clean this up? I'm trying to import it to wordpress and map it to current fields, but it isn't functioning properly. Any suggestions?
Just use search and replace in this case. remove the commas at the end and then replace the remaining commas with ",".
Should anyone else have the same issue. Know that this solution will only work with data much like the example giving. If data has a lot of text and there are commas within the text that need kept. Then search replacing comma will not work. Using regex would be the next option and that can be done in Notepad ++
However I think the regex pattern depends on the data so not much point creating an example.
PHP could be used to explode each line also. Remove values that match a regex out of many i.e. URL, money. Then what is left could be (depending on the data again) just a block of text. That approach may not work if there are two or more columns with a lot of text
I have a string as below:
4s: and in this <em>new</em>, 5s: <em>year</em> everybody try to make our planet clean and polution free.
Replace string:
4s: and in this <em>new</em>, <em>year</em> everybody try to make our planet clean and polution free.
what i want is ,if string have two <em> tags , and if gap between these two <em> tags is of just one word and also , format of that word will be of ns: (n is any numeric value 0 to 4 char. long). then i want to remove ns: from that string. while keeping punctuation marks('?', '.' , ',',) between two <em> as it is.
also i like to add note that. input string may or may not have punctuation marks between these two <em> tags.
My regular expression as below
Regex.Replace(txtHighlight, #"</em>.(\s*)(\d*)s:(\s*).<em", "</em> <em");
Hope it is clear to my requirement.
How can I do this using regular expressions?
Not really sure what you need, but how about:
Regex.Replace(txtHighlight, #"</em>(.)\s*\d+s:\s*(.)<em", "</em>$1$2<em");
If you just want to take out the 4s 5s bit you could do something like this:
Regex.Replace(txtHighlight, #"\s\d\:", "");
This will match a space followed by a digit followed by a colon.
If that's not what you're after, my apologies. I hope it might help :)
Hi all I get the Server Tag Not Well Formed error on the following line of code.
<a class="button"><span><input id="btnEmbedCodes" type="button"
value="Click for Embed Codes" onclick='javascript:window.open("%=ExternalLink%>","ExternalFeeds","height=575,width=675,
scrollbars=yes,overflow-x:hidden")'; Style="width:165px" /></span></a>
Please help me out. Thanks
window.open("%=ExternalLink%>"
In this starting "<" is missing. Seems like that is the problem.
It looks like you missed a < in the first argument of your javascript function
You are missing the opening bracket before ExternalLink
You have missed less than sign (<) before ExternalLink and also surround it with single quotes rather than double quotes.
Thanks.
hi anyone knows how to replace a html tag in a string with specific characters:
e.g.
string s1 = "<span style="italic">inluding <span style="bold">other</span> tags </span>";
string s2 = "<span style="italic">inluding </span><span style="bold">other tags </span>";
i want to replace "span" with "bold" to "bOpen" and "bClose" and to replace "span" with "italic" to "iOpen" and "iClose" in both c# and javascript.
thanks very much.
thanks for the response, i did use regular expression to do that: res = Regex.Replace(res, ".*?", replaceHtmlBold); but it cant match the nested tag and none-nested tag at the same time. could you help please?
JavaScript's String Object has a handy function that lets you replace words that occur within the string. So does C#.
Regular expressions are your friends here. I could give you the exact code for your problem, but then you'll miss the point of learning this technique. Here is an Introduction to Regular Expressions and there is this article "C# Regular Expressions". If you need more, Google is your friend.
Good luck!
PS: I realized now what the real problem is. I think you can get away with lookaround techniques and conditionals. Both are summarized here.
