Removing duplicate in wordcloud in r - r
I am generating a word cloud of my tweets. But the problem is i am getting duplicate like shown below which are treated as separated character in my word cloud instead of one.
1) myname
2) "myname
3) myname"
My other problem is i am also getting some symbols in the word cloud
like ^ ~ etc. How to get rid of these symbols
#docendodiscimus answer solved my problem but I am getting now meaning words in my cloud like 'sadi24', 'yu1' etc even I though I removed Hashtags and # words ? how can i get rid of them?
this is the output where i can identify this is happening but may be there are many other words that may be suffering from this problem . please provide your thoughts on this.
Please note that I may have numerous similar kind of issue. Please provide solution to which i can easily generalize to all others

Here I am getting words such as manager185878 and sadi24. You can see the output with some absurd symbol even after removing the Punctuation.

Why is unexpected numberic constant error solved by a return?
I have read various other SO questions and results on Google and none of them help me. I'm getting "Error: unexpected numeric constant in" a string of comma-separated integers. This has happened with multiple datasets of varying lengths. I have provided an example below. The reason I don't know what to do and the other resources aren't helping me is that when I find the specific string listed in the error and add a return (the button on the keyboard, not a function return) at the beginning of it, that clears up the error! Then the same one appears citing a problem farther down in the dataset, and the same thing fixes it, until eventually it all runs fine. y <- Although obviously impossible to know which of those zeros it's talking about (since that whole sample is zeros), when I'm using a different string of data and I can tell, putting a return fixes it. Even with the string in the error, I don't see anything wrong with it. I don't understand what's going on! Please tell me why this is happening and how to make it stop. My pseudo-fix is dramatically slowing down my work. FYI, I'm just using RGui to plot some stuff so I can see what my C# code is doing. I know basically nothing about R. I've got the R script in notepad, copy the data into the bit that says y <- c() then copy all that into RGui.
Assigning result of chain matrix multiplication to a variable in Maxima
I'm trying to assign the result of a chain matrix multiplication in Maxima to a new variable. I'm not sure as a new user why line %o6 isn't the same as the previous and fully evaluate the chain. Also why when I enter the new variable name "B" I simply have "B" returned back to me and not ([32, 32], [32, 32]). Basic questions I know but I've searched the documentation for a number of hours, and tutorials, and the syntax that I'm supposed to use here to get what I guess I was expecting as output, is still unclear to me.
I can't tell for sure, but it appears that the problem is that B : A.A.A is entered holding the shift key for at least one of the spaces, and Shift+Space is interpreted as non-breaking space instead of ordinary space. This appears to be a known bug or at least a serious misfeature in wxMaxima; see: https://github.com/wxMaxima-developers/wxmaxima/issues/1031 (I say misfeature because Shift+Space --> non-breaking space is documented in the wxMaxima documentation, but it seems like a classic example of "bad affordance"; it is all too easy to do the wrong thing without knowing it. Anyway this is just my opinion.) I built wxMaxima from current source code and it appears that Shift+Space is now not interpreted as non-breaking space in code, so B : A.A.A should have the expected effect even if shift key is held while typing space. The current version is 19.07.0-DevelopmentSnapshot. I poked through the commit log a bit, but I can't figure out which commit changed the behavior of Shift+Space, so it's possible that the problem is not fixed and it is just fortuitous that I am not encountering it. There are two workarounds, if one doesn't want to hazard an upgrade. (1) Omit spaces. (2) Be careful to only type space without shift. Hope this is helpful in some way.
Count Values comma separated non-numeric (Google Sheets)
I'm trying to figure out how to get a count of answers inside a cell which are comma-separated in this format: Anna, peter, Hans, Otto (here it should be 4) Need this for an assignment and nothing seems to work and my programming are very limited so I hope someone might help me out here :/ I have tried it in excel first with this formula: =LEN(TRIM(A1))-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(TRIM(A1),",",""))+1 ..which didn't work (the brackets around the first A1 and after substitute turned red - whats that telling us anyway? My search only show me entries about negative values..) Then I tried this formula here in google spreadsheet: =COUNTA(SPLIT(A1; ",")) ..which also didn't work (here I simply get an error). I guess it's about the values being non numeric? Any ideas?
It is possible that you need: =LEN(TRIM(A1))-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(TRIM(A1);",";""))+1 If your Regional Settings require it. (see Scott's comment)
This should do the trick =LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,",",""))+1 It just counts the commas and adds 1 Update I just realized that's pretty much the same as what you had - just without using TRIM which isn't necessary. Your formula should work too.
In Excel, use: =LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,",","")) + 1 Unless there is a chance for A having no value, then you need to expand it farther: =IF(LEN(A1)>0,LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,",","")) + 1,0) Since you also tagged Google Spreadsheets, there use: =COUNTA( SPLIT(A1, ",", TRUE)) Same applies for the possiblity of an empty field in Google Sheets.
COUNTIF of non-empty and non-blank cells
In Google Sheets I want to count the number of cells in a range (C4:U4) that are non-empty and non-blank. Counting non-empty is easy with COUNTIF. The tricky issue seems to be that I want to treat cells with one or more blank as empty. (My users keep leaving blanks in cells which are not visible and I waste a lot of time cleaning them up.) =COUNTIF(C4:U4,"<>") treats a cell with one or more blanks as non-empty and counts it. I've also tried =COUNTA(C4:U4) but that suffers from the same problem of counting cells with one or more blanks. I found a solution in stackoverflow flagged as a solution by 95 people but it doesn't work for cells with blanks. After much reading I have come up with a fancy formula: =COUNTIF(FILTER(C4:U4,TRIM(C4:U4)>="-"),"<>") The idea is that the TRIM removes leading and trailing blanks before FILTER tests the cell to be greater than or equal to a hyphen (the lowest order of printable characters I could find). The FILTER function then returns an array to the COUNTIF function which only contains non-empty and non-blank cells. COUNTIF then tests against "<>" This works (or at least "seems" to work) but I was wondering if I've missed something really obvious. Surely the problem of hidden blanks is very common and has been around since the dawn of excel and google sheets. there must be a simpler way. (My first question so apologies for any breaches of forum rules.)
I don't know about Google. But for Excel you could use this array formula for multiple contiguous columns: =ROWS(A1:B10) * COLUMNS(A1:B10)-(COUNT(IF(ISERROR(CODE(A1:B10)),1,""))+COUNT(IF(CODE(A1:B10)=32,1,"")))
Could try this but I'm not at all sure about it =SUMPRODUCT(--(trim((substitute(A2:A5,char(160),"")))<>"")) seems in Google Sheets that you've got to put char(160) to match a space entered into a cell? Seems this is due to a non-breaking space and could possibly apply to Excel also - as explained here - the suggestion is that you could also pass it through the CLEAN function to eliminate invisible characters with codes in range 0-31.
I found another way to do it using: =ARRAYFORMULA(SUM(IF(TRIM($C4:$U4)<>"",1,0))) I'm still looking for a simpler way to do it if one is available.

=COLUMNS(C4:U4)-COUNTBLANK(C4:U4) This will count how many cells are in your range (C4 to U4 = 19 cells), and subtract those that are truly "empty". Blank spaces will not get counted by COUNTBLANK, despite its name, which should really be COUNTEMPTY.
Genbank query (package seqinr): searching in sequence description
I am using the function query() of package seqinr to download myoglobin DNA sequences from Genbank. E.g.: query("myoglobins","K=myoglobin AND SP=Turdus merula") Unfortunately, for a lot of the species I'm looking for I don't get any sequence at all (or for this species, only a very short one), even though I find sequences when I search manually on the website. This is because of searching for "myoglobin" in the keywords only, while often there isn't any entry in there. Often the protein type is only specified in the name ("definition" on Genbank) -- but I have no idea how to search for this. The help page on query() doesn't seem to offer any option for this in the details, a "generic search" without any "K=" doesn't work, and I haven't found anything via googling. I'd be happy about any links, explanations and help. Thank you! :)
There is a complete manual for the seqinr package which describes the query language more in depth in chapter 5 (available at http://seqinr.r-forge.r-project.org/seqinr_2_0-1.pdf). I was trying to do a similar query and the description for many of the genes/cds is blank so they don't come up when searching using the k= option. One alternative would be to search for the organism alone, then match gene names in the individual annotations and pull out the accession numbers, which you could then use to re-query the database for your sequences. This would pull out the annotation for the first gene: choosebank("emblTP") query("ACexample", "sp=Turdus merula") getName(ACexample$req[[1]]) annotations <- getAnnot(ACexample$req[[1]]) cat(annotations, sep = "\n") I think that this would be a pretty time consuming way to tackle the problem but there doesn't seem to be an efficient way of searching the annotations directly. I'd be interested in any solutions you might come up with.
