I have set up .Netcore on my Linux VPS running Ubuntu 14.04. It would be great if I could get a sample web app to test it out. I have tried the one on Microsoft's website but it only works locally (localhost:5000) and I couldn't figure out how to change that. If you guys can tell me how to do it that would be really great.(https://docs.asp.net/en/latest/getting-started.html)

Current scenario is that I have this macos laptop (Apple M1 Pro processor) in which I was working for the last 8 months on react under visual studio code. Now, in a new project I need to leverage some API's and a lot of JSON responses and I wanted to debug the code but I saw that it is just not possible. I came across this old article ASP.NET Mono Setup
but I still feel that I won't be able to have the same level of developing experience like in a windows machine.
So, question is, can I (and if the answer if yes) debug an asp.net webforms app on visual studio 2022 for mac? If not, I would need to ask for a laptop replacement.
Thanks in advance!
Only the .net core runtimes are platform neutral.
But, the .net 2-4.8 runtimes are not.
One MIGHT be able to play and mess around with mono, but at the end of the day, I suggest you go with a VM (virtual machine),and run windows.
In other words, you don't need a new laptop, but just use a VM and install windows on that VM.
I have developed a shiny app and now wish to share it with some colleagues as a desktop app.
The issue is that I have developed the app on a machine that only has Linux installed on it and my colleagues are using Windows.
I have read several documents on deployment (e.g. here here), but they rely on R-portable which to my understanding is compatible with Windows, not Linux.
I thought about trying to install R-portable via wine, but I wanted to be sure that there isn't a more direct approach to the problem.
Please forgive me if this a dumb question, this is my first attempt at app deployment and I really am about confused, so any help will be most appreciated.
I've made ASP.NET MVC projects on my work PC, and I have a Mac at home and want to be able to dink around in my free time. I downloaded Visual Studio Code (https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/ASPnet5#VSCode) to try and do this, but I got stuck at part of the instructions and I'm not sure it's even possible to deploy it from there to Microsoft Azure. I also don't want to have to download Boot Camp and Windows, if possible. Are there any options?
I have been in the exact same position as you, unfortunately there is little that we Mac users can do. As ASP.NET was developed by Microsoft they left little room for compatibility with other platforms
Installing Visual Studio Code is the only option for Mac however, all is not lost for we have Git! If your not sure what that is; Git is an open source distribution system which is freely available for anyone to use, allowing others to access and even edit your code.
To get back onto the topic at hand, VSC uses Git repositories to push your source into the Azure platform. Take a look at this site:
http://docs.asp.net/en/latest/tutorials/your-first-mac-aspnet.html
This is some instruction for ASP.NET development specifically for Mac mainly, it tells us how to activate the Git functionality and how that incorporates to Azure. Hopefully it helps you figure out your issue!
Found these two interesting articles using a combination of Yeoman and Kestrel:
Develop ASP.NET vNext applications on a Mac
Your First ASP.NET 5 Application on a Mac
Basically, you can use Yeoman to get the project scaffolding, VS Code or Sublime Text to edit source code and Kestrel to run your project.
I done one application in spring mvc. In that for automatic mail i m using quartz integration. Everything is OK when i am running in tomcat 8 in windows OS system. "But When i am running in tomcat 8 Ubuntu system it shows blank page and it is not show any error in tomcat console to find out.."
So Can you please help for this problem
Thank you :)

I'm new to development (an admin by trade) and I'm setting up my development environment and I would like to set up a CruiseControl.Net server on Server 2008. A quick Google did not turn up any instructions for getting it running on IIS 7.0, so I was wondering if anyone had experience getting this set up.
Here is a helpful article that worked for me:
Getting CruiseControl.NET working under IIS7
What Dale Ragan said; it installed flawlessly on our Windows Server 2008 machine, including the Dashboard running on IIS 7. Just give it a shot; should work fine.
I have never tried on Server 2008, but I have installed CruiseControl.NET on Vista which includes IIS 7.0. I don't remember there being any problems. You do have an admin background which should help if something does pop up.
Just use the CruiseControl.NET wiki to get you thru the install and getting it setup. That is all I did.
I got it running by following the steps in this blog. Additionally, I had to enable ASP.NET, as shown in this blog. Lastly, to get the package install working, I gave full permission to the local users on the webdashboard directory, as in this bug report.
