Hi I am making a website for my college using Wordpress. The site content is made through Visual Composer plugin. I am having a problem with page jump using <a id="#section"></a>. There is a page with full of student thumbnails
http://www.abcdef.com/people/ where all the photos of people are linked to a particular section in the page http://www.abcdef.com/department/.
If you click on Person 1 photo, the following page with Person 1's section should be loaded http://abcdef.com/department/#tapan. Instead, it always loads to the bottom of the page. But once you are in this page and if you change the URL and replace the #person1 with #person2 or #person3 it scrolls to the particular section.
I am not able to understand why it is not scrolling when loaded for the first time. Any insights?
Try disabling "smooth scroll on click".
The option located here:
Appearance -> Customize -> Global Settings -> Links style and effects

I am very new to WordPress. I just started developed with it this week but I am a experienced front end developer. I attached a link to my working site. When you go to the site the first page will be a top navbar menu with a image in the middle. I want the first page to be an image only and then after a few seconds go to the page you currently see. How do I do this?
In the Dashboard setting for Pages, the page with the image only the Order setting is 1 and the page with the menu is 2.
Is there a easier/better way to do this besides what I'm describing?
I would appreciate any help for this.

I just started to do a small project on storefront theme and I am able to remove, reorder homepage sections but I am trying to find where the actual functions located
would someone guide me where I can find the actual function for example storefront_homepage_content
1st you go to WordPress dashboard then see left sidebar and find setting tab then mouse hover on setting and click on reading.
now select a static page radio button then see your home page name.that name is your page name.
now go to pages and find same name page and click on edit.
now you able to change to your home page section.
I have update a page in my wordpress site using web admin back end, but what I see is that even if I update a page, it does not get updated online. Moreover, some of the content of the page which I see online /live are not actually texted in the area where we put the content.
On the right side navigator, in the page attribute area Parent has been set to No Parent, template --> Home Page.
Can you please let me know what could be the possible reason why the live content of the page is different from what I can see in the actual text area through web admin panel?
Also updating a page does not reflects on the page as well for that particular page.
First make sure you are editing the right page. Click in the frontend adminbar on edit instead of navigating in the backend through the pages list.
Secondly it can be any caching related issue. Check out if there are any plugins or settings for this.
Areas that are on the page but not editable via the content can be widgets or any kind of theme builder stuff. Check in the backend design->widgets.
The page hierarchy (parent: no parent) can be differ from the actually website navigation. Check out design->menus. It is possible to build other hierarchies in the menus.
I am making my first steps learning to code, so I am building a Wordpress theme to make some experiments and see how everything works from the practice.
I installed wordpress locally and I a made a Child Theme. Now to start designing my new theme I started watching how the wordpress structure works and there is something that I don't understand:
I am making my portfolio, and I have some sections (Paintings, Films and Photography). And each section has a subcategory.
It means that each section is a page and each subcategory is a post? Or each section is a page and each category is a page too?
You can add your subcategories as subpages for to other pages. To do so, follow these steps:
Go to Administration > Pages > Add New panel.
In the right menu, click the "Page Parent" drop-down menu.
The drop-down menu contains a list of all the Pages already created for your site.
Select the appropriate parent Page from the drop-down menu to make the current Page a child Page.
Add content to the subpage.
Click Publish when ready.

I am working on one wordpress site. i have total three page in my site for ex: home, one and two. my problem is whenever i move from home page to another page like home to one page then home->one this type of navigation link shown on every page like home->name of page. how to remove this link.
Which WordPress version you are using??
May be your theme support breadcrumb functionality.
You can check it from admin side.
Try to find breadcrumb's code in your header.php(or index.php, etc) and delete or place it between
<!--breadcrumb's code-->
If your theme has custom options menu and you can turn off breadcrumbs. Check it.
Also double check if pages one and two are child pages of home.
