I am trying out to send email using aws ses using meteor.
My code at server end is:
import { Meteor } from 'meteor/meteor';
if(Meteor.isServer) {
Meteor.startup(function() {
process.env.MAIL_URL="smtp://username:password#email-smtp.us-east-1.amazonaws.com:465";
Accounts.emailTemplates.from='abc#abc.com';
Accounts.emailTemplates.sitename='abc';
Accounts.emailTemplates.resetPassword.subject = function (user) {
return "Password reset email" ;
};
});
}
below is the error:
I have verified the sender email id.

I'm using accounts.ui for forget password
Accounts.forgotPassword({email: "test#test.com"}, function (e, r) {
if (e) {
console.log(e.reason);
} else {
// success
}
});
When I send the email for forget password I simply get below email
Can someone tell me how to simply change the url and send the token with the same token
I tried using below code but that didn't work
main.js(client)
Meteor.startup(() => {
Accounts.resetPassword.text = function(user, url) {
url = url.replace('#/', '/');
console.log("url ==== ", url)
return `Click this link to reset your password: ${url}`;
}
});
On the server side:
Accounts.emailTemplates.resetPassword.subject = function () {
return "Forgot your password?";
};
Accounts.emailTemplates.resetPassword.text = function (user, url) {
return "Click this link to reset your password:\n\n" + url;
};
Read: https://docs.meteor.com/api/passwords.html#Accounts-emailTemplates
To change the resetPassword url to a custom one you have to run below code on your server (inside of /server/main.js file).
Accounts.urls.resetPassword = function (token) {
return FlowRouter.url("/reset-password/:token/", { token });
};
In this case, I am using a FlowRouter to generate that URL but you could technically just return a template literal if you like.
If the above code is in the server main.js file and you run Accounts.forgotPassword() function on the frontend from a localhost, it would generate this link:
http://localhost:3000/reset-password/C9cGfgaLEgGXbCVYJcCLnDYiRi3XJpmt2irLOOaKe56
I was initially trying to setup my server-side signalR HUB to send messages to the client, but so far have not succeeded.
So I decided to try to send a message from the client instead; and setup a button to trigger a message from client to server.
I can launch my Core 3.1 project (image below), and setup the Hub connection just fine, but cannot verify in any way that the message is being received on the server.
In fact, my server breakpoints never get hit.
In my html:
<button mat-button (click)="sendClientMessage()"> Send Message </button>
TypeScript component:
sendClientMessage(): void {
this.notificationService.sendMessageToHub();
}
import { Injectable } from '#angular/core';
import * as signalr from '#microsoft/signalr';
import { SIGCONT } from 'constants';
#Injectable({
providedIn: 'root',
})
export class NotificationService {
private hubConnection: signalr.HubConnection;
hubMessage: string;
public startConnection = () => {
this.hubConnection = new signalr.HubConnectionBuilder()
.withUrl('https://localhost:44311/hub')
.configureLogging(signalr.LogLevel.Debug)
.build();
this.hubConnection
.start()
.then(() => {
console.log('Hub Connection started');
this.sendMessageToHub();
})
.catch((err) => console.log(`Error while starting connection: ${err}`));
this.hubConnection.serverTimeoutInMilliseconds = 50000;
}
public hubListener = () => {
this.hubConnection.on('messageReceived', (message) => {
this.hubMessage = message;
console.log(message);
});
}
public sendMessageToHub = () => {
if (this.hubConnection == undefined || this.hubConnection.state === signalr.HubConnectionState.Disconnected) {
this.startConnection();
} else {
this.hubConnection.send('NewMessage', 'client', 'You have a notification from the front end !')
.then(() => console.log('Message sent from client.'));
}
}
constructor() { }
}
My server-side Core project - Notifications.cs
using Microsoft.AspNetCore.SignalR;
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Threading.Tasks;
namespace NotificationHub.Hubs
{
public class Notifications: Hub
{
public async Task NewMessage(long username, string message)
{
await Clients.All.SendAsync("messageReceived", username, message);
}
internal Task NewMessage(string v1, string v2)
{
throw new NotImplementedException();
}
}
}
When I click the button above, it appears to send something to the server:
I would appreciate any help in getting my Core project to first hit those breakpoints, and to see what the NewMessage method is not receiving the client message.
From there I can try and figure out how to send messages from server to client (i.e. using some Timer example).
thank you.
You're sending 2 strings from the client to the server but you've made your server method take a long and a string so it doesn't match. If you looked at the server logs you would see a message about the method no being found.
Another way to observe the error would be to call invoke instead of send from the client side which will expect a response from the server on completion of the hub method, or in this case an error will be sent from the server.
I am new to AppMaker but I have developer experience.
The application is a Project Tracker Application
What I expect to happen: When creating a project the user uses a User Picker to select the users associated with that project. When the project is created I want to email the users associated with that project.
The issue: On clicking the Add button addProject(addButton) client script function is called.
Inside this function sendEmailToAssignees(project, assignees) is called which should reach out to the Server script and run the notifyAboutProjectCreated(project, assignees) but that is not happening.
Things to know: With logging I never reach 'Trying to send email' so I seem to never reach my server script. Also, On client script when I comment out sendEmailToAssignees function everything runs smooth. I have looked at this documentation as a resource so I feel my implementation is okay. https://developers.google.com/appmaker/scripting/client#client_script_examples
The final error message I get is:
Failed due to illegal value in property: a at addProject
(AddProject:110:24) at
AddProject.Container.PanelAddProject.Form1.Spring.ButtonAdd.onClick:1:1
Am I missing something here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Client Script
function sendEmailToAssignees(project, assignees) {
google.script.run
.withSuccessHandler(function() {
console.log('Sending Email Success');
}).withFailureHandler(function(err) {
console.log('Error Sending Email: ' + JSON.stringify(err));
})
.notifyAboutProjectCreated(project, assignees);
}
function addProject(addButton) {
if (!addButton.root.validate()) {
return;
}
addButton.datasource.createItem(function(record) {
var page = app.pages.AddProject;
var pageWidgets = page.descendants;
var trainees = pageWidgets.AssigneesGrid.datasource.items;
var traineesEmails = trainees.map(function(trainee) {
return trainee.PrimaryEmail;
});
record.Assignee = traineesEmails.toString();
var assignees = traineesEmails.toString();
var project = record;
updateAllProjects(record);
console.log('update all projects done');
sendEmailToAssignees(project, assignees);
console.log('Send Email done');
if (app.currentPage !== app.pages.ViewProject) {
return;
}
gotoViewProjectPageByKey(record._key, true);
});
gotoViewProjectPageByParams();
}
Server Script
function notifyAboutProjectCreated(project, assignees) {
console.log('Trying to send email');
if (!project) {
return;
}
var settings = getAppSettingsRecord_()[0];
if (!settings.EnableEmailNotifications) {
return;
}
var data = {
appUrl: settings.AppUrl,
assignee: project.Assignee,
owner: project.Owner,
startDate: project.StartDate,
endDate: project.EndDate,
jobType: project.Type,
jobId: project.Id
};
// Email Subject
var subjectTemplate = HtmlService.createTemplate(settings.NotificationEmailSubjectJob);
subjectTemplate.data = data;
var subject = subjectTemplate.evaluate().getContent();
// Email Body
var emailTemplate =
HtmlService.createTemplate(settings.NotificationEmailBodyJob);
emailTemplate.data = data;
var htmlBody = emailTemplate.evaluate().getContent();
console.log('About to send email to:', assignees);
sendEmail_(null, assignees, subject, htmlBody);
}
The reason you are getting this error is because you are trying to pass the client "project record" to the server. If you need to access the project, then pass the record key to the server and then access the record on the server using the key.
CLIENT:
function sendEmailToAssignees(project, assignees) {
var projectKey = project._key;
google.script.run
.withSuccessHandler(function() {
console.log('Sending Email Success');
}).withFailureHandler(function(err) {
console.log('Error Sending Email: ' + JSON.stringify(err));
})
.notifyAboutProjectCreated(projectKey , assignees);
}
SERVER:
function notifyAboutProjectCreated(projectKey, assignees) {
console.log('Trying to send email');
var project = app.models.<PROJECTSMODEL>.getRecord(projectKey);
if (!project) {
return;
}
//Rest of the logic
}
The project record object in the client is not the same as the project record object in the server; hence the ilegal property value error.
I try to send the mail using Meteor with Email package but mail not received
In client side i used this code
Meteor.call('sendEmail', 'xxx#sss.com', 'aaa#aat.com','Hello from Meteor!', 'This is a test of Email.send.');
In server side
Meteor.methods ({
sendEmail(to, from, subject, text) {
this.unblock();
Email.send({ to, from, subject, text });
}
});
In smptp.js
Meteor.startup(function () {
process.env.MAIL_URL = 'smtp://XXXXXXX:6-2KklMXNG4prgdgdfgdgdfgo46ryaMCg#smtp.mandrillapp.com:587';
});
You can't set environment variables like that. You need to put it in your settings file, ie
{
"env": {
"MAIL_URL": "smtp://XXXXXXX:6-2KklMXNG4prgdgdfgdgdfgo46ryaMCg#smtp.mandrillapp.com:587"
}
}
and then when you run meteor
meteor --settings settings.json
I want to use my existing authentication and be able to use that same authentication to perform a get request to the Google Directory API. Here's my current code:
login() {
this.firebaseRef = new Firebase('https://xxx.firebaseio.com');
this.firebaseRef.authWithOAuthPopup("google", (error, authData) => {
if (error) {
console.log("Login Failed!", error);
} else {
console.log("Authenticated successfully with payload:", authData);
}
}, {
scope: "https://www.googleapis.com/auth/admin.directory.user.readonly"
});
}
getData() {
// TO-DO
// Recognise existing OAuth and perform a GET request to
// https://www.googleapis.com/admin/directory/v1/users?domain=nunoarruda.com
}
You could leverage the getAuth method on the firebaseRef instance. Something like that:
getData() {
var authData = this.firebaseRef.getData();
var provider = authData.provider;
// In your case provider contains "google"
}
See this documentation: https://www.firebase.com/docs/web/api/firebase/getauth.html.
I've found the solution. I need to use the current access token in the http request headers for the GET request.
import {Http, Headers} from 'angular2/http';
getData() {
// get access token
let authData = this.firebaseRef.getAuth();
let oauthToken = authData.google.accessToken;
console.log(oauthToken);
// set authorization on request headers
let headers = new Headers();
headers.append('Authorization', 'Bearer ' + oauthToken);
// api request
this.http.get('https://www.googleapis.com/admin/directory/v1/users?domain=nunoarruda.com',{headers: headers}).subscribe((res) => {
console.log(res.json());
});
}
