Meteor: Get url of uploaded image in CollectionFS photo-blog example - meteor

I'd like to be able to pass the URL of an uploaded image in javascript in the tutorial example making a photoblog in meteor.
In that example (in home.js), the helper for templates that render images returns Images.find(), which is used in the image template (image.html) to output html to show the image via:
<img src="{{url}}" />
This works fine, as does the entire tutorial, including S3. However, I'd like to combine it with another project, and that one will require storing and passing around the url under program control.
It would seem that because the template is able to use {{url}}, that in js, one could, in the simplest case, use Images.findOne().url to get at least the first url. E.g., I have modified the given helper to contain this:
Template.home.helpers({
'images': function() {
console.log("url from home helper: = " + Images.findOne().url); //cannot read url property
return Images.find();
}
});
However, this gets the error "cannot read url property..." (and after that, for some reason, the console prints out a huge batch of source code!!) If the template is able to render the field "url" from the collection image object, why can't js see it?
How can I get at the url in javascript?

the url is the function not the property so you have to use Images.findOne().url() not the Images.findOne().url
or
if you are getting the same error that because your findone method return undefined.
There are the possible issues.
Your Images collection are empty.
You did not publish then images and not subscribe the images.
You may be using this call before uploading the images.
I hope this this may solve your issue.

How to display filtered media elements in wordpress media uploader?

I've been running back and forth in the js files in the wp-includes folder and already frustrated by the search results but nothing seems to suffice my necessity.
I need to filter the list of media elements displayed in the Wordpress media uploader.
I've integrated a Upload media button in my theme. You can click on that button and a modal pops up. You can upload your file or select from the list. By default this list happens to contain every elements uploaded so far. But the button I've designed has somewhat more specific operation. Like user can select only pdf files in a place and may be only images in some other. Basically I need to filter the list of media items based on my button preference.
I tracked down (might be wrong though) MediaFrame is responsible to display elements, wp.media.model.Attachments probably holds the collection of elements which uses wp.media.model.Query.get() to query for media elements which sends a admin-ajax request with query-attachments action along some query params. I searched for the actual ajax function and found a post_mime_type query param. I just need to pass my desired mime type there.
So how can I pass my desired mime type when initiating the wp.media.frame?
Any type of help is appreciated and thanks in advance.
Well, after some more digging around and messing with the core js and php files related to this feature I was finally figure out the actual process and surprisingly thats really simple.
wp.media() function accepts some parameters which is obvious-
title Text to show on the uploader
button Select button
multiple whether to select multiple files or not
library This is actually where the filter params are kept
And some more I suppose (couldn't figure out yet). Just passed my mime type there and voila! The list is organised!
var file_frame;
file_frame = wp.media.frames.file_frame = wp.media({
library: {
// I don't know why but the following two were already
// there even when I wasn't passing anything.
orderby: "date",
query: true,
post_mime_type: ['image/png'] // pass all mimes in array
},
});
Thats all!!

Get TinyMCE 4.3 Image Tools to save images as regular image files

The new TinyMCE 4.3 Image Tools (eg when cropping) saves images as blob data instead of image files in a directory. the edited mage url is like
blob:http://www.example.com/f2953aa1-e64f-49e1-a6e3-a283986663bf
I want to upload the image file to a specific folder and then use it as regular image referance / path.
Note
The question I am going to put is similar to Image edit issue. but the answer to this question is not working. I also tried http://archive.tinymce.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=35740 solution but not working because it produces always same name image name.
The basic process is that TinyMCE will create a separate HTTP POST for each image that you modify with the image editor. It will send that image to a URL of your choosing (via HTTP POST) based on the setting of the images_upload_url option in your init.
The image handler at the URL referenced in the images_upload_url (which you have to create) has to do whatever needs to be done to "store" the image in your application. That could mean something like:
Store the item in a folder on your web server
Store the item in a database
Store the item in an asset management system
...regardless of where you choose to store the image your image handler needs to return a single line of JSON telling TinyMCE the new location of the image. As referenced in the TinyMCE documentation this might look like:
{ location : '/uploaded/image/path/image.png' }
TinyMCE will then update the image's src attribute to the value you return. If you use the images_upload_base_path setting in the init that will be prepended to the returned location. The TinyMCE page has more details on all of this:
https://www.tinymce.com/docs/advanced/handle-async-image-uploads/
The net here is that TinyMCE knows when an embedded image exists in your content but it can't possibly know what to do with that image in the context of your application so that job (the "image handler") is something you must create.

Open PDF in browser instead of downloading it

After uploading a PDF to the Media Archive, I am trying to link to it from a page on a site.
While editing content, I use the hyperlink tool then select the PDF I want to link to via the URL input box.
After saving and publishing the content, clicking the link downloads the PDF and I don't see any apparent way to make this view-able in the browser by using the current Media ID Composite provides. When rendered, we get this:
pdf
Is there a way that I can reference a PDF without using the Media ID and simply use the file name instead?
Here is the Request/Response header info:
After reading what Pauli Østerø said, I understand the problem but am still not able to think of a solution.
I can get the PDF to view in the browser by adding ?download=false to the href URL via Developer Tools. But when I try to add ?download=false to the href through Composite, it doesn't take affect and I get the console output: "Resource interpreted as Document but transferred with MIME type application/pdf: "http://c1.wittenauers.com/media/4afb7bc8-f703-469d-a9b2-a524d8f93dcb/ryc7iw/CompositeDocumentation.PDF"."
Here is the network trace that was asked for by Pauli. In the image, I included the bit where I add ?download=false to the URL, in source view, just in case there could be another way to add it.
Edit: URL and headers for the page.
Here is the link to the page that contains the link:
http://c1.wittenauers.com/cafe/test
Here is the headers for the page containing the link:
From what you're experiencing, it seems to me that Composite have gotten the MIME type of your uploaded file wrong, and is therefor not correctly telling the browser that this file is a pdf, and the browser doesn't know what to do with it.
Try deleting the file and uploading it again.
Try add ?download=false and the end of the href to the file. You prob. need to go into source mode of the content editor.
This is the exact line in the Source Code which is responsible for this behavior, and the logic is as follows
If there is no Querystring named download, the attachment is determined by the Mime Type. Only png, gif and jpeg will be shown inline, the rest will be shown as attachment.
If there is a Querystring named download with a value of false, it will override the Mime Type check and always force the Content-Disposition to be inline.
I made a quick test here to show that the behaviour is a expected. At least in my Chrome browser in Windows 8
Force download: https://www.dokument24.dk/media/9fdd29da-dde8-41f7-ba4c-1117059fdf06/z8srMQ/test/Prisblad%202015%20inkl%20moms.pdf
Show in browser: https://www.dokument24.dk/media/9fdd29da-dde8-41f7-ba4c-1117059fdf06/z8srMQ/test/Prisblad%202015%20inkl%20moms.pdf?download=false
Expanding on Pauli's answer, you can add the following snippet to your page template to automatically add the '?download=false' to all pdf links.
$("a").each(function () {
if (this.href.includes(".pdf")) {
this.href = this.href + "?download=false";
}
})

jquery mobile 1.4.5 single-page template href querystring ajax

I am a newbie to JQM (I use 1.4.5) and my webapp (asp.net C# apache Cordova) contains many separate pages of .cshtml (single-page template) only. I am testing my webapp on a Samsung Galaxy Grand using Android 4.2.2
A.
I am not sure about my understanding of 'linking pages', even after reading all the JQM docs on this and also after reading up many, many posts on this topic about passing querystring values to another page; mainly because I find that ALMOST ALL the examples are directed towards providing answers for internal pages (Multi-Page template) within a single html page.
So I request some of you JQM experts to confirm or correct the following understanding of mine....
From the JQM docs I understood that
I could use in any link (e.g button), href="page2.cshtml?par1=1&par2=2"; and JQM will automatically use Ajax for this link to work.
I also understood that use of querystring is always allowed in such cases of different html pages of the same domain and it will work via Ajax automatically ; so long as the attr such as rel="external", data-ajax="false" etc. are not used in the same link.
but querystrings are not allowed in case of the internal pages (multi-page template) only....;
and if I need to use the above href to link to a page in another domain e.g. www.anotherdomain.com/page2.cshtml?par1=1&par2=2, then I need to use rel="external".
Are all my above points (that reflect my understanding) CORRECT? KIndly confirm ro please correct me ...
B.
In my app, I find that most of the links work according to my understanding as above, to connect to different pages in the same domain; and I assume it happens via Ajax. Is it correct? I am also able to use the querystring params in page2 ( i.e. To-Page).
But in one case, though it works, in the To-Page the Panel features do not operate correctly, unless I introduce rel="external' in the href link !!! I suppose it means it IS NOT AJAX anymore? Also I am unable to find the reason..
Further independent of the above topic, I face another issue. The loading time (i.e. Time taken to display the To-Page) varies.
Mostly it is OK, but at times the loading-circle goes on forever.... and I presume it has crashed....??? then If I go back using the back button and come forward again, many times it loads immediately...!!!!!
Any thoughts or suggestions.....?
Thanks in anticipation...
Ratna
Before you can worry about how to pass attributes from one page to another you need to understand the difference between multi-page and multi-HTML templates.
Multi HTML page template
Smaller and lighter, each data-role=”page” is inside a separate HTML file and page structure is much more modular.
Can become even smaller if every subsequent HTML page is stripped from HEAD content, or anything that isn’t data-role=”page” div. Unfortunately in this case fallback if JavaScript is not supported is out of question.
DOM size is relatively small, only first page is permanently loaded into the DOM, any other page will also be loaded into the DOM but at the same time it will also be removed when not used actively, basically each time you move from it.
Better fallback if JavaScript is not supported. Works great in desktop browsers after a page refresh, mainly because every HTML page has an existing HEAD content. This also allows your app to behave like normal web app mainly because AJAX can be turned off.
Multipage template
Since all pages are already loaded, no additional requests are generated for navigating between pages.
First load is slower as the file size is larger, but subsequent page navigation is fast, thus making transitions much more smooth. Almost native-like smooth, emphasize on almost.
Suitable for relatively smaller applications and situations where you know the capabilities of your target platforms including presence of JavaScript support, thus making it a great solution for a hybrid app. It works much better as a Phonegap app then multi HTML template.
The “page” data-role element is required.
More about this topic can be found here: Multipage template vs Multi HTML template in jQuery Mobile
Now let's talk about how to properly pass data between jQuery Mobile pages.
jQuery Mobile uses AJAX by default
You can turn off AJAX using rel="external"
If you turn off AJAX you will lose almost everything good about jQuery Mobile, including animations. So if you don't want AJAX page handling better find some other responsive framework like Bootstrap or Foundation.
If you don't want to use AJAX you can still use querystrings but inside a href or via changePage function.
Better querystrings alternatives:
Global object.
If you're using AJAX you can simply use a global object(s) to store all of your data.
Something like this:
// Store object
var storeObject = {
parameter1: null,
parameter2 : null
}
Access data from the previous page
Again if you're using AJAX you don't need to pass any data because all that data is till in the DOM.
// Store object
$(document).on('pagebeforeshow', '#second', function(e, data){
alert("My name is " + data.prevPage.find('#test-input').val());
});
Localstorage or Sessionstorage
This solution will work no matter if you use AJAX or not.
$(document).on('pagebeforeshow', '#index', function(){
$(document).on('click', '#change-page-button', function(){
// store some data
if(typeof(Storage)!=="undefined") {
localStorage.firstname="Dragan";
localStorage.lastname="Gaic";
}
// Change page
$.mobile.changePage("#second");
});
});
$(document).on('pagebeforeshow', '#second', function(){
alert('My name is ' + localStorage.firstname + ' ' + localStorage.lastname);
// Lets change localStorage data before we go to the next page
localStorage.firstname="NewFirstNeme";
localStorage.lastname="NewLastName";
});
$(document).on('pagebeforeshow', '#third', function(){
alert('My name is ' + localStorage.firstname + ' ' + localStorage.lastname);
});
Send data through changePage function or via href
// Send
$.mobile.changePage('page2.html', { dataUrl : "page2.html?paremeter=123", data : { 'paremeter' : '123' }, reloadPage : true, changeHash : true});
or
Send parameter
receive that same data:
$(document).on('pagebeforeshow', "#index", function (event, data) {
var parameters = $(this).data("url").split("?")[1];;
parameter = parameters.replace("parameter=","");
alert(parameter);
});
If you need more information about this solutions including working examples find them here: Passing data between jQuery Mobile pages
Several methods mentioned here are deprecated (still usable) in the version 1.4. Though you don't need to worry about that, almost everything here will be unusable in version 1.5. This new version will overhaul jQuery Mobile from the bottom to the top.
Update
Yes, you can use any such link and jQuery Mobile will use AJAX. If you take a look at my previous examples you will find a working one.
If you want AJAX you CAN'T use rel="external", data-ajax="false" though stringquerys will work in bot cases.
Correct they will only work in multi-HTML template. Though there used to be a 3rd party plugin that allowed this to work with multi-page template but I don't think it works with newer jQuery Mobile versions.
Correct, if you want to link external page you need to use rel="external".

Meteor: [Load Order] Make JavaScript file load after HTML file is loaded?

Load Order Issues
I am having trouble making Meteor load my JavaScript after my HTML file fully loads when I go to localhost:3000. The problem is that my JavaScript keeps loading before my HTML file, and makes the page look unloaded when I use stuff like alert(); or prompt();. I've tried a lot of solutions such as naming my JavaScript file as main.js and putting my HTML file in a deeper directory and using <script> tags. I have also read the documentation concerning this: http://docs.meteor.com/#/full/structuringyourapp Solutions I've tired based off the documentation such as putting files in client/lib , client/compatibility , and lib have proven to no avail. I also tired Meteor.startupand I placed the file for it in the client folder. (The code inside it):
Meteor.startup( function () {
$.get("client/lib/testproject.html")
$.getScript("client/testproject.js");
});
The above sort of solved my problem, but it loaded the JavaScript file two times. The first time was before the HTML loaded and the second time was after the HTML loaded. I don't know a way to prevent the first JS load from happening when using Meteor.startup, so any solutions for that are also appreciated.
The JavaScript file's code I am referring to is simple. (In it's entirety):
prompt("Hello World!");
myList = ["apples", "oranges", "bananas"];
myList.forEach(function(value, index) {
alert('I have ' + value + ' for dinner.');
});
Summary
To summarize my problem:
My Problem:
Go to localhost
JavaScript loads first
HTML loads second
What I Need:
Go to localhost
HTML loads first
JavaScript loads second
The Question: How can I make my JavaScript load only after when my HTML is loaded? And how can I restructure my folder, file-names, and/or code to make it behave as I want it to in this case?
Since the code posted is extremely simple to reproduce I kindly ask that you
run your own solution with a setup similar to what I have and not something that uses a million packages since that is unnecessary for my case, on Meteor, before responding to this.
I'm on Meteor 1.1.0.2
Here is a link to my folder structure with included HTML code along with filenames I used: http://i.imgur.com/24z6bXF.png
I think you missed a decisive information : you should wrap your Javascript code into a Template.yourTemplate.rendered=function () {} function.
That is the meteor way to ensure that your related html code is properly rendered first.
First of all, Meteor will always repackage your files and load them automatically in a specific order (Meteor structuring your app). First files in client/compatibility then client/lib and then the others JS files.
You should also rewrite your code so it does not get executed immediately at load time, like wrapping everything in a function. And then, you should call this code when the DOM is loaded, which does not necessarily mean in Meteor.startup but also in onRendered callbacks in your templates.
