While installing R package rgeos, I typed the code below in R-studio:

The output shows like this:

I am working on a mac with catalina 10.15.5, having updated R recently there is now a warning when I call data.table which indicates it is single-threading. I followed the instructions here, removed the package and reinstalled from cran, however, the warning remains and getDTthreads() still returns 1 (even following stDTthreads(2)).
How can I resolve this issue?

This installation of data.table has not detected OpenMP support.
It should still work but in single-threaded mode.

I want to use multiple cores so I go to the suggested web page above and follow instructions there. I do all three steps and they all seem to work (no error messages).
install command line tools with "xcode-select --install"
install Brew and then "brew update && brew install llvm"
finally create and edit "~/.R/Makevars" as suggested.
At this point I go back and try installing data.table and compiling it with:

What is wrong with this ‘datatable.so’ not found? And I didn't find any posting related to datatable.so so far.
FYI: I've followed all instruction here when first problem (the gettext issue) solved, the datatable.so did not. I've went through all related/possible post and followed all the instruction including brewing, clang, gfortan etc. But nothing seems to be working.

The problem you are facing is compilation package from source on macOS. It is known to be causing much more troubles than on other platforms. We have a dedicated wiki page:

I am trying to compile the R package "Cairo" from Source (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/Cairo/index.html, latest version) for R3.2.4.
This is needed because the server (SLES11 SP4, no option to change) on which this should be installed has no internet connection, so I can't install from repo.
Some problems are already fixed by setting correct environment variables (see settings below).
Unfortunately trying to install the package still gives me a compile error after the configure.

The problem was that in /usr/lib64/ the libcairo.so link was broken:
ls -l /usr/lib64 |grep -i cairo
libcairo.a
libcairo.la
libcairo.so -> libcairo.so.2.10800.0
libcairo.so.2 -> libcairo.so.2.10800.8
libcairo.so.2.10800.8
There was no libcairo.so.2.10800.0, so ld linked libcairo.a.
Fixing the link to libcairo.so.2.10800.8 solved it.
When I install the mvtnorm package in R using package.install("mvtnorm"), I get this error:

I suspect the problem could be with the version of clang and gfortran, so I unlinked gcc-5.3.0 and use clang-3.6.0 and gfortran 4.9.2 instead. The compiled version of gfortran is obtained from this site.
