What are the benefits and drawbacks of using IFD?
What are the steps for configuring IFD?
Is it possible to test configure IFD on Virtual Machine? If yes, please guide about the steps?
And if not? where to implement the procedure?
I have not implemented the CRM. and got assignment to implement IFD.
PS: I really want to implement all the things on my own. just need right way to do the things.
Thanks in advance for the Guidance.
Interactive webs has a good description for ADFS/IFD on https://www.interactivewebs.com/blog/index.php/crm-2013/crm-2013-ifd-setup-with-adfs-3-0-on-windows-2012-r2-hosted-setup/
You can do the setup on a VM, make sure that the DNS is setup properly and it should work.
If you haven't worked with CRM at all it might be some bumps getting this working IMHO so it might take some time.
The pro of having an IFD CRM is that it's reachable from everywhere without having to use VPN, the drawback might be that it is no longer behind a firewall.

I am new and I am not sure if this is a place to ask this question.
I developed a web site alone using wordpress framework.
Now, I got a guy who I don't know much to join me to develop the site. We live in different countries and we decide to use Bitbucket for code management.
I do not have any experiences in team working, Bitbucket.
My concerns are:
1. Do I need to upload both source code and database to Bitbucket?
Do you think he will just take all the source code and database and make his own website and become my competitor?
What should I be careful when working in a team? I mean sharing code.
I know maybe I am quite small-minded. I am worried about security problems.
But definitely, I need to have someone to work with me to develop the site.
Please advice and write any sources that are useful for this problem.
Thank you.
I'm not an expert in Wordpress, but the concept still applies:
Source code: yes. Database: no, only the database schema/ SQL scripts to recreate it.
Depends on his ethics. You should reach an agreement with him that guarantees that he won't do so, by writing a contract for example.
Take the following into consideration: coding standards, conventions are followed in naming variables, pages, urls, etc, repository privacy is set correctly, repository privileges are distributed to enable the contributors to do only what they're supposed to do.
I'll leave the rest to you and other fellows on this website to figure out depending on your experience :)
I'm working with Symfony2.3.4 and PHP 5.6.3.
I'm going to deploy a project I just finished and I need to do it "by hand", it means copying the project source code manually onto the production server in a company because I can't use any tool for it or anything of the like.
I've never done this before and for what I've googled so far it's hell. But what worries me the most is the matter of protecting my code once it's in the server, i.e.: no one sniffing around, editing, copying, plagiarizing it, etc.
I don't know if I'm making any sense or if this is an obvious question, I really really have zero experience deploying web apps so be gentle.
Anyone who has administrative access to the server can read and copy your code, including of course the server administrators (i.e. the hosting provider staff).
Of course any hosting provider in the world can do that and AFAIK it's never been a problem, because they usually are professional and don't do it.
The only solution I can think of is to setup a VPS where you have the only SSH access, but of course that means you have to setup the whole web server yourself... and that's even more complicated than simply deploying your code.
To answer your question, and if you really (really!) want that, you can checkout this SO question: Is there a code obfuscator for PHP?
But you shouldn't do that! As said, don't be scared by hosting providers, or setup your own server. :)
I would like to develop a website for a company with a lot of different functions. I decided to use the Symfony 2.0 framework for the first time and started reading the documentation and also a video tutorial.
After a week reading the documentation I still have some general questions unanswered. It would be great if you could help me with them:
Which client OS do you recommend to work with Symfony2? Windows doesn't seam appropriate.
Can I develop the whole website on a local Apache server and than upload the files to a regular webhosting server and use it?
I bought a regular web hosting (www.cyon.ch) is this recommended? I can't use any console on it.
I'm really confused and I'm sure I'm asking quite some stupid questions. It would be great if you can help me understand better how Symfony2 works.
Thanks in advance!
Windows is OK, as long as you have PHP and MySQL. There are several package that can do the job.
You can. In fact you should. Common workflow is develop on localhost and test on test server, and then move to production server. You should use a SCM like git.
Theoretically you can. But you won't have access to many console features that are really useful, like updating the database schema, flushing cache, download dependecies automatically, etc. I know some people doing this (copying everything with vendors), that's heavy and insecure.
When it takes half a day to update the app, you don't hurry when you have to apply security patch. Unlike Wordpress or Drupal, Symfony has no other 'easy way' to update vendors and third party modules than command line interface. So it is really not a good idea. You can find a lot of VPS with full ssh access, that cost less than 10$ months.
I work on windows just fine. For wamp server, use Easyphp. Everything is easy to configure and most important; cli and apache users use same php.ini
Yes, but it is bad. You should use either svn or git. I find svn easier to use and both of them have UI variants: TortoiseSVN and TortoiseGIT.
No. You need console access and php5.3 minimum.
So, this does not necessarily have to do directly with the code itself, although it is certainly a component of it.
I recently downloaded and installed the PayFlow Pro SDK for use with ASP.net
link here:
https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=developer/library_download_sdks
I installed this to my development machine. I also came accross this example code which I figured outlined the primary setup for basic Paypal Credit Card Transaction functionality.
link here:
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/PayPal_PayflowPro.aspx
Anyways, I have two main questions
Do I have to install the SDK on the web hosts server in order to utilize the functionality of it? This seems to make sense, however, the tutorial in the second link suggests I create a web reference. Unless I am not understanding something here, wouldn't this just strictly work on my development machine, or at least, the functionality of the remote website that references this web reference to access the sdk, would this not be dependent on my computer running and broadcasting this information?
I just need clarification on how to install and/or access the sdk for use on a remote webhosts server (ie. do i need to install the sdk on the web-hosts server and if so, how would one go about doing so (ie. where to install, how to install)?).
Are there any other clean cut examples like my second link provides, that sort of outline the basic functionality of Payflow Pro? I find paypal's examples numerous and convoluted and their online slides/video tutorials to be tedious.
Perhaps I should just get off my lazy ass, but I have found peers from the general community to be much more informative in a way more efficient manner, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
For anyone interested, after enough searching I found a great example that notified me of all the fundamental processes to creating a basic transaction and allowed me the knowledge to further manipulate the sdk.

I have a web site solution (asp.net) that runs on a SQL server database. I have several of those installations running and i want to create an administration module which can monitor and interact with them all. - and if all goes well - push/upgrade an installation to FTP/SQL.
What is the best approach to architecturing this?
SHould i simpley just integrate with the database on each installation (easiest approach as i see it) but this will give problems when/if I upgrade the database model
Should I write a webservice which interacts with the database and i "simply" connect with this webservice on each website when i need to administer it?
Any solutions i havent thought about is very welcome
/Brian
The latter would be a better approach as this would give you independence from any underlying customisations to the installations.
I agree abstract the implementation into a webservice, and then use something like the enterprise library to interact with the datastore.
This will give you a good framework to work from and should help decouple your application, resulting in more flexiblity moving forward.
