I am looking to move my localhost site (WAMP) into my Wordpress account. I have read several articles on how to do it, but with no luck. They all seem to require a web server... Can someone recommend a free one? With instructions on how to upload it online? Thank you!!
finally found a method after much googling...
i ended up choosing x10hosting for web hosting, and i followed this tutorial to install wp plugin and upload files:

you'll find all your pages, menus, etc missing/incorrect.
so you'll also need to go log onto your localhost wp and export the xml files by:
tools --> export.
then import that file onto x10hosting via wordpress dashboard.
any plugins installed locally will need to be installed again.

I've installed wordpress local on my computer with xampp, it's working but now I need to transfer my wordpress.com on my wordpress local. I want to add an extension but it's asking me my FTP credentials and I'm not finding them nor succeeding in creating some. I've tried the different things I found on your forum (chmod, define FS method) but it's not successfull, when i try to download an extension, it tells me that it can't be added to the file. How can I do it please ?

If it's asking you for FTP credentials to transfer it through the web, that won't be possible as your site is not reachable, it's only installed locally. This is doable by adding some extra software to make your site accessible, like ngrok.
Instead of that, why don't you use the site exporter?

I was hosting two of my personal sites/blogs with HostGator for over 10 months. I didn't update my sites that often as I don't get enough time to write content for my sites .So, I decided to host my site through raspberry-pi or pc.
I downloaded full backup and home directory backup. Also, I installed WordPress locally. Now, I want to use my local WordPress setup to launch my sites by using files that I downloaded from HostGator cPanel but I dont know how to do that. Initially I spent sometime to get the solution from google as well as YouTube but directions were not clear. I tried to do it by myself but I was not successful.
Is there solution to this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

I would recommend to use a plugin for this.
Try "Duplicator" for example. It creates a backup for you and an installer file.
After downloading these files, you place them in your root directory and navigate to "localhost/installer.php" and everything gets set up as you had.

I looked back on what I did when getting started and I edited my gulpfile.js to include

proxy: 'localhost:8888',
notify: false
};
Thinking this was the issue, I switched it to proxy: $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'], but still no luck. Any ideas for what I may be doing wrong?

That is an easy to way to get into live server maintenance hell. UnderStrap is a unique theme package because it has strong npm dependencies running in the back-end that are appropriate for localhost development builds. For that reason, Here is an alternative approach I recommend instead.
Install a clean vanilla version of WordPress on your live server.
Install and activate UnderStrap.zip on your live server through wp-admin.
Import/Export your posts and pages from your local site, onto the live site. Add all media images. Adjust your settings, install your plugins, and clear your cache.
Now use the file manager in your C-Panel to only upload all modified theme files from your localhost to your live server.
Test your site, then go live.
That is more of a manual process, but it has its benefits. For one, you learn and see what each step looks like, you push up only what you need, you don't have localhost decencies running on your live site and the database is 100% targeted on live site content.
If you can access the wp-admin of your live site there's a great plugin called Velvet Blues Update URLs that you can install.
Install it, go to Tools > Update URLs and enter the localhost address and then the live site address.
Always works great for me.
Many developers have done this process by running its gulp dist when processing deployment. It will create dist folder which you can upload on the server. It contains all necessary files that supports running the scss. So try to use also the gulp dist-product as a "product" that the theme can be published and downloaded in the near future.

Here are some solutions that you can try(Remember to take a backup before using this)
Check and clean all your recently modified files
Contact your hosting provider if you are not using dedicated server.
If you have some inactive themes and plugins which you don't need more remove them.Hackers can hide script there.
-You can upload new word-press core files which you haven't customised.
Install fresh copy of themes and plugins if you not customised them.
Change your secret keys in your wp-config file.
Check users in your word-press and delete suspected ones.
Check permission of your installation directory .if not secure them make changes.
Change you WordPress password

I have never used wordpress before, My boss has given me access to a site which was created using wordpress. then He asked me how I am going to make sure I don't break the site accidentally, I told him I would create a backup on my local computer so that all my changes can be restored if I mess up.
I have the wordpress dashboard up. How do I back up EVERYTHING, I hear there are two separate things I need to back up? someone please help me.
PS: I don't think he would like me to do this with out the use of additional plugins.
There are two separate things:
Your website database. Simply export all the MySQL tables from the database, which is dedicated to your site.
The site files, everything you've got under WordPress folder, /wp-includes, /wp-content, /wp-admin directories and all files.
This should do it all. You can test on your localhost to make sure it's everything that's necessary.
You can backup your WordPress either from your hosting account (preferable) or from your WP dashboard.
You need to backup two things - all the files (the root of your Wordpress installation) and the database for your WP installation.
Since you only have access to the dashboard, you have to use plugin for this.
Two of my favorite free backup plugins are:
BackupWordpress - https://wordpress.org/plugins/backupwordpress/
BackWPup - https://wordpress.org/plugins/backwpup/
They are intuitive and easy to work with, so you shouldn't have issues.
If you go to the dashboard go to "tools" in the left toolbar. Select "export". On the export page you can report that you want to export "all content". This will get you the items that you need from the server.
Then you need to install wordpress to your machine. You can download that from: https://wordpress.org/download/
