I am using Maximo anywhere 7.5.2.1 . We noticed the platform-artifacts folders are not visible in eclipse Project explorer for some apps ( e.g. Inspection, Workexecution, Physical count) which ever were present in 7.5.2.0 but for the newly added apps this platform-artifact folder is visible in project explorer. Is there any way to make this visible for all apps?

You have to be careful making changes to these files, as any change you make to the files will be overwritten on the next platform upgrade and will have to be manually applied, but it is possible. Right click on the MaximoAnywhere/apps/WorkExecution directory and say Properties. Under the Resource->Resource Filters section, remove the filter hiding the platform-artifacts directory.

Why Files misteriously disappear from xcode with this strange symptom?

I use time machine and drop box to synchronize stuffs.
Recently I found that some files are gone.
However, the project compiles just fine as if the file is there. My friend cannot compile though.
This is very frustating. I got to find the missing files and then restore it from time machine and then readd that to xcode. I don't even know what files are missing.
I used dropbox and time machine. Looks like file disappear, the file names becomes "red" in xcode for a while and then poof it's gone. Xcode automatically remove the files from the project. The project still compiles fine which is frustating. If the project doesn't compile, I will know ah this file is missing.
Looks like somehow xcode still have the file but doesn't show it. Files is not on finder either.
What could possibly be the explanation and how to fix that.
I have clean projects to make sure that my computer do not use cached files.

For example, xcdatamodeld files are crucial. In my computer it still run fine without that file even though that file is obviously needed. Xcode behaves as if the file is there all along.
My friends' try to compile the project and crash.
Also there is a PNG file. In my computer it runs fine with the icons showing up. In my friends computer the icons doesn't show up at all.
For anyone who still have the problem, in my case Xcode6. It turns out somehow the "Show only files with source control status" and "Show recent file button" is enable. It located in the bottom of left sidebar.
This somehow happen after I update os to Yosemite.

Go to the project navigator (top left folder symbol). Files that are not found by XCode are displayed in red. But since your project compiles fine, there should not be any that are required. Now click one of the "missing" files to activate it. Open the utility area on the right side, and show file inspector. Under "location" you find the full path of this file. Probably, your XCode project uses just references to these "missing" files that are stored somewhere else, and not in your project folder.
I had the same problem ..then I added the files explicitly into our project…which resulted into Duplicate Symbols error …we solved that by following….
In Your Project go to targets-
At the bottom Bar of your Targets there are three options..
1.Add Target
2. Validate Settings
3. Build RUle..
Click on validate Settings….it will ask for you to remove the Duplicated files from the project do it…ur project would run fine

Flex Builder 4 mobile modifying app properties

I am building an app in Flex Builder 4 (iOS and Android) and have my app worked almost to completion and about ready for deployment. Unfortunately, I cannot find how to change the app icon and title for the system to read, so my app still shows up as Main with the default package symbol in the launcher. Does anyone know where to apply changes to these properties?
You need to edit these details in the .xml file for your project. It will be located in the root of your src folder and will be named something like MyProject-app.xml. Double click this, there you can edit the filename, version number, icon, etc.
NOTE: the default view is Design, i found it much easier to edit in the Source view.

How to make a Flex Builder project to work on an existing Flex non-project with ant build?

I want to do some development on a Flex project that uses Ant: http://svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/editors/potlatch2/ . I can build it from the command line but now want to use Flex Builder 3.0.2 to build, debug, etc.
I can see a few different paths to follow, but nothing that screams out "this is the right way":
create new project, SVN checkout in there (but then the directory structures won't match, and not sure how to tell FB to build using the existing build.xml)
create new project, create external source links to another directory with the files in it
Surely people do this all the time? (Never done Flash development before...)
Ok, here's what ended up working for me. It turns out I didn't need to use ant to build the project after all. This is for the specific project (Potlatch2) but lots of the principles are probably common.
File | New Flex Project (no server), save it somewhere, eg "c:\pot"
SVN checkout the potlatch2 files inside, so you have c:\pot\potlatch2\potlatch2.mxml etc...
Rename version.as.template to version.as and make up some stuff inside
Remove the "..." line from potlatch2-config.xml. Don't ask me why.
Set Flex SDK version - configure it to point to SDK 3.5
Project | Properties | Flex Build Path:
set source folder to potlatch2
set output folder to potlatch2\resources
set library path to potlatch2\lib
Update Flash global security settings to allow access to c:\pot\potlatch2\resources (otherwise you get 1. SWF security errors)[1]
Update browser settings (Window | Preferences...) to use a browser that has Flash Debug Player installed (ie, not Chrome).
Under debug settings (click the bug drop down, Other...): Turn off "Use defaults", make debug (and possibly run and profile) point to an HTML host file that passes the right settings to potlatch2.swf, passing lat/long coordinates of a place you want to edit.

Running Basic Flex Projects over HTTP?

How do you configure Flex Builder to run basic flex projects over http (http://localhost/MyProject.html)? I can't figure out how to use crossdomain.xml files when running locally via something like file:///Users/Me/Flex/MyProject...

It would be worthwhile if you mentioned what OS you are developing on: Windows, or Mac OSX?
In general, you'll be asking Flex Builder to deploy your build to a web-accessible location provided already by the IIS web server (if on Windows), or the Apache web server (if on OSX.) Here's how:
choose Properties on your Flex project
select Flex Build Path in the left panel
change the Output folder for your project.
On Windows, you'll typically choose an output folder such as C:\inetpub\wwwroot\xyz ... where xyz is the name for a folder you created to hold your project's output files. That will be accessible as http://localhost/xyz/YourFlexApp.html
On Mac OSX, a good output folder to use is /Users/yourusername/Sites/xyz ... where yourusername is your user name, and xyz is the name for a folder you created to hold your project's output files. That will be accessible as http://localhost/~yourusername/xyz/YourFlexApp.html
Important: Ensure your local web server is installed and enabled.
Additionally, you'll want to change your Run/Debug settings so that Flex Builder launches your project via http:// URL instead of via a file reference. Here's how:
choose Properties on your Flex project
select Run/Debug Settings in the left panel
select your application in the main list
click the Edit button
under URL or path to launch, uncheck Use defaults
change the Debug, Profile, and Run URLs to point to your web-accessible location.

This is a Flash setting, actually. You need to make the folder you're trying to run Flash in allowed by Flash. Go to this website, which runs a special component of Flash. http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html
Add the local folder location inside the 'locations' piece and make them Allowed. It's not super-intuitive getting it to save your settings, but it shouldn't take more than one try.

desktop shortcut icon not showing in web setup project

i've created a web setup project and i wanted it to create a desktop shortcut to the web application (ex: http://localhost/xx/yy.aspx). up to this point it was pretty easy: i created a shortcut (doesnt matter where), gave it the url i wanted, added this to the User's Desktop special folder of my web setup project, and it was placed on the desktop after the installation. but then i wanted to display my custom shortcut icon. i set the icon of the shortcut i've created on my file system. then i re-included this to the setup project. however after the installation the shortcut kept showing the default IE icon again. (i tried these on windows 2003 server, on win xp the shortcut showed up iconless)
after some trials i found another way: i recreated an iconless shortcut on my file system, opened my web setup project, included this shortcut and my icon to Web Application Folder under File System on Target Machine, then clicked on User's Desktop, right clicked on the right hand side blank area, selected Create New Shortcut and chose the shortcut i've just added. Then under User's Desktop i clicked on the newly created shortcut, opened the Properties window and set its Icon property to my included icon. These steps solved it all both on 2003 server and win xp.
Though this wasnt really a question i wanted to share it anyways because it was quite annoying.
So was the problem you were not including the actual ico, exe or dll file containing the icon in the installer? shortcut files (.lnk) do not actually contain a copy of the icon, just a link to them.
