Web Essentials Why it is unable - web-essentials

I am working on Visual Studio 2013 with Web Essentials installed. I try to create CSS bundle files in LESS, but Web Essentials is unable (as the image below). I just tried to update Web Essentials by installing Web Essentials 2013.5, I got a message saying "The version is already installed."
Please direct me how to get Web Essentials enable.
Thanks

Which IDE for VB.NET code built on .NET framework 2.5?

I used to use MS Visual Web Development (VWD) Express 2008 as IDE for a website which was developed on .NET framework 2.5 with VB.NET and runs on IIS 7 originally. About a year ago, MS stopped downloading the VWD Express 2008 and now I am in need of an IDE for my old VB.NET website. Which IDE will allow me to maintain this old VB.NET website?
Here is the detail info of VS 2019 community installed:
Here is screen shot of the existing project I am maintaining.
You can go with Visual Studio Express.
(edit: It is now called Visual Studio Community Edition).
It should work fine. To be honest, I never used Visual Web Developer.
Just keep in mind, that you want to open the project as a web site, and NOT a project. Quite sure that's how VW developer worked and was setup.
I'm not even sure they have VW developer anymore, but Visual Studio Express 2019 should be able to open + work on that web site.
So, to open a web application project, then you use this option:
(this means you have a .sln file).
So this:
However, this might ONLY be a web site project. So, you can use this option:
So, I would certinly try to open the project (folder) where the site exists, and see if you can find a .sln file.
If there is no .sln file, then you can try to open the .vbproj file.
But if you open a "web site", then you ONLY select the folder where the web site exists. (you don't open .sln, or .vbproj file - but open the FOLDER.
VS 2017 is the last one that explicitly mention supports for .NET 3.5, and the Community version is still available with the free Dev Essentials account. If you're ineligible for Community, then the Visual Studio Express 2015 for Web is the one you want.
That said, even in the latest VS 2022, I still see the option to switch a project to target .NET 3.5, and the template still offers Web Form development.

I am not able to find the ASP.net Web Application template in Visual Studio Enterprise 2015

I recently installed Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise Edition. I was not able to find the ASP.net Web Application template in it.
I have already tried the following
Repair the setup.
Modify setup and uncheck and check Microsoft Web Developer Tools option.
Install Visual Studio 2015 Extension for ASP.NET Project Templates as outlined here. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/webdev/archive/2015/02/08/some-of-asp-net-project-templates-in-vs-2015-are-available-on-vs-gallery.aspx
Clean up registry keys, delete all setup files and clean installation.
What can I do to get the OneASP.net template to develop MVC and WebAPI applications.
please refer the above steps to check if you can create a MVC project in Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise Edition.
If you still could not see the MVC project template in Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise Edition, I suggest you could try to delete ItemTemplatesCache, ProjectTemplatesCache folder and then run the the devenv /InstallVSTemplates switch and devenv /Setup switch. Please refer to the following MSDN document and then check this MVC project template issue.

MVC 5 -> MVC 5.1 Migration. Intellisense issues

I just updated my project to MVC 5.1 from MVC 5. The main web.config file got updated automatically, but web.configs under main View and Areas folders weren't changed. I suspect that's why now I lost both intellisense and resharper support for my actions, controllers and areas.
Does anyone know correct web.config content for MVC 5.1 Views? Just replacing 3.0.0.0 to 3.1.0.0 and 5.0.0.0 -> 5.1.0.0 did not solve the issue.
It happens in both Visual Studio 2012 and 2013 Professional.
Found a solution from this MS article:
MVC 5.1 Tooling Support and Razor IntelliSense are Still Broken Even
After Installing VS2013 Update 1 RC
Known issue:
If a VS2013 user installed “Microsoft ASP.NET and Web Tools 2013.1 for
Visual Studio 2013” before they install VS2013 Update 1 RC, they won’t
be able to get MVC 5.1 tooling support that comes with VS2013 Update 1
RC.
Symptom:
MVC 5.1 tooling support and Razor IntelliSense are still broken even
after installing VS2013 Update 1 RC.
Workaround:
From "Add/Remove Program", uninstall "Microsoft ASP.NET and Web
Tools 2013.1 for Visual Studio 2013"
Repair VS2013 RTM
Install VS2013 update 1 RC if you have not yet installed it. If you have
already installed this, you don’t need to reinstall or repair it.
From Web PI, reinstall Microsoft ASP.NET and Web Tools 2013.1 for
Visual Studio 2013 or repair Azure SDK 2.2.
Update NuGet Packages
Steps:
Select TOOLS –> NuGet Package Manager –> Package Manager Console. This opens the Package Manager Console pane.
In command prompt, type Update-Package and press Enter.
This command will update the MVC files and activate the intellisense again.
Well if you update to ASP.NET MVC 5.1 RTM without updating Visual Studio 2013, you will not get Visual Studio editor support for syntax highlighting while editing the Razor views. You will need to update Visual Studio 2013 to get this support.
So it is not directly connected with IntelliSense or Resharper. But anyway I would try to update VS13 to VS13 Update 1
Update NuGet Packages in Package Manager Console.
Verify the current version of System.web.MVC and update it in the Views/Web.config file and also verify the version in Web.config of Root folder.

I am missing "ASP.NET Web Project" in my list of Visual Studio 2010 Web project types - how do I get it?

I'm trying to create an "ASP.NET Web Application" project in Visual Studio 2010 but that project type is missing from my File/New/Project dialog:
I believe it should be part of the standard install, and I don't see it available in the Online Templates. How can I get that option?
VERY silly mistake - I neglected to install "Visual Web Developer" as part of my VS installation because I misinterpreted it as the Express edition.

Visual Studio 2010 missing ASP.NET projects templates?

So brand new installation of .NET Framework 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010 on a brand new computer. Loading up Visual Studio 2010 and selecting New Project only lists the following project typess under "Web":
ASP.NET MVC 3 Web App
AjaxControlExtender
AjaxServerControl
ASP.NET Server Control
All of the other project types are missing and I can't load existing .NET projects (gives me the "project type not supported" error. Any idea what happened or how I can reinstall the missing templates?
I've already tried running devenv.exe /installvstemplates with elevated privileges.
If you didn't install the Visual Web Developer component, the ASP.NET project templates won't be fully installed. Naturally, because the installer then thinks it doesn't need to put them there as ASP.NET is a web development framework.
In that case, just run the installer again and make sure Visual Web Developer is checked. The installer will then add the appropriate project templates.
Default Project Templates in Visual Studio
Available templates may vary according to Visual Studio version, SKU,
installation options, and other customizations. If you are missing a
template that comes with your installation, run devenv.exe with the
/installvstemplates switch. For more information, see How to:
Restore Default Project Templates.
