I'm currently involved in a scrum project for a small organization.
Some events have led us to believe the organization doesn't understand their role in the scrum process. We've already gone as far as arguing about the size of the development team which, in my opinion, shouldn't be something for them to worry about (negative conclusion to this project has little to no impact on their end and large impact on us).
Learning the lingo as they go, they've asked us if they could see our backlog.
I don't have a ton of experience with scrum but is it wise to show it?
I fear we might get a lot of negative feedback because they don't understand the process all that well.
(Additional context: we are students and this situation is not covered by our classes, our teacher hasn't responded to our e-mails yet.)

Scrum is transparent. Everything the team does is open and visibile to all interested parties. Regular showcases are held to demonstrate completed work and both the sprint and project backlogs are public.
If you are following the Scrum framework then you will have a Product Owner who represents the business and is fully engaged with the team. It is the Product Owners responsibility to engage with stakeholders (i.e. other business users) to explain the contents of the product backlog.

I am bit confused with a question, The customer can see the sprint goal, but should he be also able to see sprint backlog? or it is not allowed for the customer to see sprint backlog?
One of the Scrum Values is Openness. Scrum does not specify what a customer can and cannot see. However, you can apply the value of Openness as a litmus taste to a decision about what to share and what not to share.
Customer can see the sprint goal, and Release goals. To me thats enough for a customer view. Sprint back log must be visible to the team, scrum master, product owner and other engineering stakeholders only. Anyways its agile, as long as you give access to your backlog anyone can see the backlogs.
There is a great deal of value in making the sprint backlog visible to everyone.
Reasons for this include:
Helps to set expectations on what will be done in the sprint
Creates trust between those in the team and those outside of it
Allows for feedback from stakeholders to the Product Owner
It can protect the team from having additional work dropped on them - it shows that they are busy and what they are working on
First of all of we talk purely Scrum book terminology, I don't think there is such party as Customer. Scrum defines three roles: Development team, Product Owner and Scrum Master. You can argue Product Owner represents customers but this is not really outlined in Scrum Bible.
Sprint backlog as an artifact is generally managed by the Dev team as this is essentially what's been committed to a sprint. So the only restriction I can think of in regards of Sprint backlog will be its modification. Changing it during sprint is only allowed if Dev team makes an agreement with the PO.

We are following Agile development methodology. As a SCRUM master, I am maintaining the Sprint BackLog. I want to know what is the best practice to accommodate any increase in effort for a particular task in the middle of a project.
For example, I am doing ABC task and in the starting of the sprint I have estimated that it requires 10 hrs to complete it, but on the second day I realized that it requires 20 hrs, so how will i update the Sprint Backlog.
You change the remaining work to 20 hours. Scrum is concerned with the actual work remaining, not whether the original estimate was right. That's important, but it's not explicitly part of Scrum.
If this threatens your ability to deliver on your commitment, then you need to discuss solutions with your team and possibly also the product owner. Perhaps:
A teammate might have a simpler solution.
Other tasks were overestimated and you can still deliver everything.
The product owner might decide it's not worth the effort.
Sprint planning was rushed and the sprint should be declared a failure and restarted.

Suppose an actor A has the site of an actor B in iFrames. There is no difference in the sites except the url. Urls are totally different. Should the actor A ask a permission of the actor B for using B's site? Is there any law that forbid placing other site on a site in iFrames?

You should also check your country and local state laws, there is no such thing as a standard legal solution because it changes from one place to the other and many countries do not have laws on what you are asking. However, let me tell you, the web seems to be dominated by two frame of mind, or law philosophy:
lex mercatoria: these folks tend to think the web is commerce and commerce laws should apply, which are mostly derived by mores and civil laws
lex retis: these folks say the web is anarchy, no law should govern it
PS: I am a lawyer. Even if this is a bit complicated, I hope you can get an idea.
As far as I can tell, it only becomes a legal problem if the iframe is used to perpetrate fraud, deceptive marketing, or somesuch. Short of that, it's merely annoying. You can always use framebusters/framekillers if it bothers you enough.

Which organisations are best suited for use of Scrum methodology and why?
Scrum is not a development methodology, it is a project management methodology. Scrum is about managing workload and resources, and removing impediments to progress, and surfacing results at regular intervals to the whole team (including stakeholders).
Think to yourself:
could your dev/project teams benefit from a daily or bi-daily catchup meeting?
when you have design or project meetings, do the wrong people hog all the attention?
do you need to draw a distinction between various stake holders in a project?
could your team benefit from an iterative process, where "releases" are done frequently (i.e. every 3 or 4 weeks), and bugs and features are carefully prioritised against each other by the product manager?
The smallest team we have that uses something scrum-alike consists of 3 devellopers (2 full, 1 part-time), the stakeholder and the scrum-master ('secretary'). It works very well and we are planning to switch other small project teams to this method soon.
There are some 'points' you have to keep in mind:
We have the project status in an excel table under revision control, that is updated at least after the very short daily meeting.
The review and planning meeting is scheduled biweekly on a given day and will not be moved until all participants agree.
In all metings we break down the tasks from backloglist to smaller ones of max. 2 days of work, depending on the task type (concept, prototype, product etc). This proved to be the most valuable means to get reliable estimations!
If the stakeholder needs an status update or needs to adjust priorisation he can have a look at the excel table and change it, so even if he's not participating the planning meeting he has enough impact on project devellopment
The most important influence on management style is that you have evidence on what a given change would cost and what you can achieve until a given date (thing of a release date or a fair trade).

I haven't been to enough of these "live" events to really determine which, if any, are worth the time / money. Which ones do you attend and why?
For conventions, if you're still in university, and can make it to Montreal, Canada, the Canadian Undergraduate Software Engineering Conference (CUSEC) has been extremely enjoyable. See the 2009 site for the next event, and for a take on what previous years have been like, take a look at the 2008 speakers (note: it included Jeff Atwood).
I attend CUSEC primarily because our software engineering society on campus makes a point of organizing a trip to it, but also because of the speakers that present there, and the career fair.
I used to belong to my local Linux User Group which I co-founded but I treated it more as a social event than anything else but obviously a social event full of geeks is still a great way to get a great debate going :)
Conventions and the like I've not got much out of other than being pestered by businesses who can offer me nothing that is apart from a bunch of Linux and Hacker ones where I've met loads of people who I consider friends offline, again great for the social aspect but pretty worthless to me in other respects.
That's not to say I never got any business out of attending various events it's just that treating them as social occasions meant any business that did come my way was a bonus so I never left an event feeling like it was a waste of time.
