0. If you have the license of DevExpress then you are avaliable to download 11.1.7 version directly from their Download Manager:
If you haven't license, then you need to get one and follow the step 0.

I am trying to download ibm.data.db2 in Visual studio 2019 nuget packet. But for some reason only ibm.data.db2.core is available but a year back ibm.data.db2 was available. Is there a way I can download the older version or core works?
It has been removed from Nuget for unknown reason. I am also trying to find one. I had to copy the DLL and add a reference to it to run an old project.
Fortunately, I was able to find an archive and yet another one.
The removal probably has to do with it being out of support. Did you need support for it? I did not too.
When I create a new Xamarin.Forms project within Visual Studio it uses an old version of the Xamarin.Forms DLL (v2.0.0.6482). In nuget theres an update available to v2.3.0.107.
Why is an old version being used on project creation?
Im on the latest Visual Studio 2015 update and Xamarin version.
Thanks in advance
This is expected since the Forms templates that ship with Xamarin for Visual Studio are not updated as frequently as the package itself. You can go ahead and update the packages to the latest version available on NuGet. Just make sure to update the Forms package in all the projects to the same version.
Note though, only update the Forms package inside the Android project and not the Android Support packages. Forms will also update those to the correct versions needed in order to avoid compatibility issues.
Ok, sounds like it is an issue for a few people.
I have gotten it working with the help of a friend!
It's working fine for me now; I followed the steps below:
Start a new Xamarin.Forms portable project
Uninstall all Xamarin nugets, clear the packages folder (others will be downloaded)
Close VS 2015
Clear the C:\Users_[Username]_\AppData\Local\Xamarin\zips folder, these will be downloaded automatically as needed.
Open the project
Update nugets then install Xamarin.Forms 2.0.0.6490, this should get the relevant version of dependencies for the android project (ie Xamarin.Android.Support.x). This will be v23.0.1.3, even though an update exists, as MatPag stated, it is not yet compatible.
Build.
This will take a long, long time, as the Xamarin\zips folder will be re-populated so a quite hefty file will be downloaded.
Might complain again, clean, save then reopen.
This is will definitely work fine
I tried to use the scaffolding but there are so many changes I need to make for it to meet my needs. Is there some way I can make my own template so I can scaffold my own controller automatically.
Please note I just updated to the latest release of VS2013 RC Update 2. Not sure if there is any new functionality in that which would help me.
thanks,
There are two ways that customs scaffolders are supported:
Write a new scaffolder as a VSIX extension. This will be available for any project on your machine, but does require installing the VSIX to share. A sample walkthough is provided here
Customize the scaffolding T4 templates for your project. This will be available only in the project where you do it, but should not require any further custom installation once it's there (note: setting it is simplified by having the SideWaffle extension installed). A sample walkthrough can be found here
Never done it before, but this may help http://blogs.msdn.com/b/webdev/archive/2014/04/03/creating-a-custom-scaffolder-for-visual-studio.aspx
I am getting this error a lot:
Feature '{insert feature here}' cannot be used because it is not part of the
ISO-2 C# language specification
I am working on a .NET 3.5 website that I've worked on on and off for about two years. I've never seen this error before my most recent around of updates. I'm using a decent amount of LINQ coding throughout and I get these errors related to much of the LINQ code. Based on what I've read it seems like even though I'm using .NET 3.5, for some reason it thinks I'm using 2.0. But I can't find anything that says how to fix it.
One example of a problem is that if I try to add a new item to the App_Code directory, I do not get the option to add a LINQ to SQL dbml file.
If anyone can shed some light on how exactly I would fix this, I would much appreciate it.
I was unable to locate an "Advanced" option under the build tab. I have a feeling it is probably because it is a web app. I looked through the web.config and found 2 parts that may be important. Most things referenced 3.5.0.0 or v3.5. The settings are consistent with older backups of the web.config from when there were no errors. By the way, only intellisense and things within VS2010 are giving me problems. The website is running error free.
I have completed a total uninstall and re-install of VS2010 and I'm still having the same issue. I fired up my old install of VS2008 and I am NOT having this issue there. However, I would MUCH prefer to use VS2010 on this project.
I opened the website in VS2010 on my work computer, and there are no errors reported. This is making me think that there is something on my laptop that is causing the problem. As I noted above, I completely reinstalled Visual Studio 2010 and I am still having the problem. What does this leave? I have only one extension installed in VS, and it's the same one at work and on my laptop. Also, I did not reinstall the extension after reinstalling VS, and the problem persists.
Both PC's run Win7 Ultimate. Have VS2008 and VS2010 installed. VS2010 has the same extension installed on both. On my laptop I have the full version of SQL Server 2008 installed, but only the Management Studio on my desktop (we have a server in the office). Would SS2008 have anything to do with it?
Go to your project properties, the Build tab, Advanced - that should allow you to set which version of C# you want to use. It should default to the latest version supported by the version of Visual Studio you're using, but it sounds like at some point you've switched it to ISO-2.
(That's certainly true for Windows projects and class libraries - there may be a different location in a web app. In particular, have a look in Web.config.)
If this has only started happening recently, I'd have a look through your source control history at changes to any configuration files. Also try creating a new project of the same type, and see if that has the same problem.
Jon Skeet's answer is mostly correct. The location for the update is in the "Property Pages" which I got to by right-clicking on the name of the website, clicking Property Pages, the Build item, then target framework.
The extension I use, Solution Navigator, has it's own heading for the solution. Right-clicking on it DOES NOT give me the Property Pages option. By chance I right clicked on the title of the website under the solution heading and was presented with the Property Pages option. In there was the Build tab which contained the target framework option.
Once I finally found the target framework option, it was indeed set to .NET 2.0 for some reason. I changed it to 3.5, reloaded the solution, and now it works great.
Thanks a million Jon for your help and time working with me!!
I have nUnit installed.
I have VS2008 Team Edition installed.
I have ASP.Net MVC Preview 4 (Codeplex) installed.
How do I make Visual Studio show me nUnit as a testing framework when creating a new MVC project? At this point I still only have the Microsoft Testing Framework as a choice.
Update: I installed nUnit 2.5, but still with no success. From what I've found Googling, it would seem I need to create templates for the test projects in order for them to be displayed in the "Create Unit Test Project". I would have thought that templates be readily available for nUnit, xUnit, MBUnit, et. al. Also, it looks like I need to created registry entries. Anybody have any additional information?
Update: I determined the answer to this through research and it's posted below.
After a bunch of research and experimentation, I've found the answer.
For the record, the current release of nUnit 2.5 Alpha does not seem to contain templates for test projects in Visual Studio 2008.
I followed the directions here which describe how to create your own project templates and then add appropriate registry entries that allow your templates to appear in the drop-down box in the Create Unit Test Project dialog box of an MVC project.
From a high level, what you have to do is:
Create a project
Export it as a template (which results in a single ZIP archive)
Copy it from the local user's template folder to the Visual Studio main template test folder
Execute devenv.exe /setup
Run regedit and create a few registry entries.
So much for the testing framework selection being easy! Although, to be fair MVC is not even beta yet.
After all that, I did get the framework of choice (NUnit) to show up in the drop down box. However, there was still a bit left to be desired:
Although the test project gets properly created, it did not automatically have a project reference to the main MVC project. When using Visual Studio Unit Test as the test project, it automatically does this.
I tried to open the ZIP file produced and edit the MyTemplate.vssettings file as well as the .csproj project file in order to correct the aforementioned issue as well as tweak the names of things so they'd appear more user friendly. This for some reason does not work. The ZIP file produced can not be updated via WinZip or Win-Rar -- each indicates the archive is corrupt. Each can extract the contents, though. So, I tried updating the extracted files and then recreating the ZIP file. Visual Studio did not like it.
So, I should probably read this as well which discusses making project templates for Visual Studio (also referenced in the blog post I linked to above.) I admit to being disappointed though; from all the talk about MVC playing well with other testing frameworks, etc, I thought that it'd be easier to register a 3rd party framework.
Man, they have VS 2008 project template listed in their release notes. I guess that doesn't mean they have it integrated with the dialog yet.
I use MbUnit with Gallio and everything worked like a charm. I had to install an Alpha of Gallio and MbUnit and when I read the above in the release notes, I figured they implemented it also.
Just keep a look out on nUnit's site for future alpha releases. I am sure they'll have it implemented soon. You could also implement the feature yourself and submit a patch. :-)
Although they do not have one bundled with the framework here is a link to post containing a download to automatically create the test project for "NUnit with moq" for you NUnit with Moq
(did not work right away on my computer, W7 Beta, make sure you use elevated permissions)
Do install Testdriven.net to integrate NUnit with Visual Studio. MbUnit and later versions of NUnit also contain project templates for unit tests.
You can use those project templates to create a test project and then reference to your ASP.NET MVC project and be able to test its code.
