I am looking to re-design the Login page. I need to add a new background image. Let me know where should I be copying this image into the project and where should I be specifying the image reference. I see the change made directly into Login.html are not reflecting in the output.
There are two logos in Maximo Anywhere, ibmLogoDark.png and ibmLogoLight.png (for the light and dark backgounds). You will need to obtain suitable replacement (transparent backgound) logo gifs or png files from your customer, of an equivalent size.
The IBM logo image files are in:
\MaximoAnywhere\apps\WorkExecution\common\js\platform\ui\control\images\mdpi
and also in:
\MaximoAnywhere\apps\WorkExecution\common\idx\mobile\themes\common\idx\images
So that is where I put copies of my customers replacement logos.
You'll want to give them different names from the IBM logos just so they don't get overwritten so easily. There are 4 CSS files you need to update to the new name:
about.css, launch.css and login.css in:
\MaximoAnywhere\apps\WorkExecution\common\idx\mobile\themes\common\idx
and mdpi.css in
\MaximoAnywhere\apps\WorkExecution\common\js\platform\ui\control\css
There are also two app.xml files you need to update to point to the new names. One in each of:
\MaximoAnywhere\apps\WorkExecution\platform-artifacts\dialog
and
\MaximoAnywhere\apps\WorkExecution\platform-artifacts\login
Then rebuild and you're done. Oh, and make sure you clear your browser cache (or use incognito mode) to test.
I have a question.
I am currently building a "blog" website. Not that it matters but..
I am trying to set my background to be a specific image that i have.
And it used to work! Until recently and I just don't know why it wont.
It works when i am on my computer, everything works fine.
But i am using 000Webhost as the hoster for the website.
So if u go to "http://pontuslundhblogg.uphero.com/"
You might see that the website is completely white. Cause the picture wont load for the background.
In my css sheet, i am using:
body {
background-image: url("bakgrund.jpg");
And yes, i did name the picture bakgrund.jpg and uploaded it to 000webhost. Its the exact same name etc. I wondering.. Could two different css stylesheets make so it gets weird or something? Cause I added a second css style sheet to be able to have a drop-down menu in a different sheet, and i added the drop-menu. Around that time it started messing with me..
Is it me doing something wrong.
Or is it 000Webhost?
(Might add that none of my pictures is working now, i can also contribute with more code if needed!)
If you go to pontuslundhblogg.uphero.com/bakgrund.jpg you get a message
"The image pontuslundhblogg.uphero.com/bakgrund.jpg cannot be
displayed because it contains errors".
If you go to pontuslundhblogg.uphero.com/bakgrund1.jpg you get 404 page, which means that the first path (bakgrund.jpg) is correct - but the image itself isn't good.
Try to upload it again or contact the hosting service.
If you use FTP maybe you need to change something in your FTP program settings - maybe change from ASCII to Binary transfer.

Is there any way to use Chrome dev tools to test different images? I have created a new background graphic and I would like to test it on a live site that already has a background graphic on the <body> tag. I don't want to change the live site yet, though. Just test it to see what the new image looks like. Is this possible?
Here is the answer, courtesy of Rob Donovan # superuser (via https://superuser.com/a/839500/454034)
Since you mentioned 'Chrome', you could use Chrome extensions to do this, to enable local access to your files.
Follow these steps:
1) In the local folder where your image(s) are, create this file called 'manifest.json' and enter this:
{
"name": "File Exposer",
"manifest_version": 2,
"version": "1.0",
"web_accessible_resources": ["*.jpg","*.JPG"]
}
2) Put this is your chrome address bar: chrome://extensions/
3) Make sure 'Developer mode' is checked (Top right of page)
4) Click the 'Load Unpacked Extension' button
5) Navigate to the local folder where the image(s) and the manifest.json file is, click ok
6) The extension 'File Exposer' should now be listed in the list, and have a check mark against 'Enabled'. If the folder is on a network drive or other slow drive or has lots of files in, it could take 10-20 seconds or more to appear in the list.
7) Note the 'ID' string that has been associated with your extension. This is the EXTENSION_ID
8) Now in your HTML you can access the file with the following, changing the 'EXTENSION_ID' to whatever ID your extension generated:
<img src='chrome-extension://EXTENSION_ID/example1.jpg'>
Note, that the *.jpg is recursive and it will automatically match files in the specified folder and all sub folders, you dont need to specify for each sub folder. Also note, its Case Sensitive.
In the 'img' tag you don't specify the original folder, its relative from that folder, so only sub folders need to be specified.
If you modify the manifest.json file, you will need to click the 'Reload (Ctrl+R)' link next to the extension.
Another option would be to start a simple http server.
In your terminal (or command prompt), cd into the directory where your images are saved and then type python -m SimpleHTTPServer for Python 2.
For Python 3 use the following command: python -m http.server [<portNo>]
Now you can reference the images in dev tools using http://localhost:8000/filename.jpg.
This is not an exact answer to your question, but one way you could do it is to use something like dropbox public folder. Once the image is in the folder you can just right click and copy a public url to use in the dev tools.
I think the best and simplest solution is to convert your image into Base64 (you can use any online/offline tool for that) and then just paste the output inside DevTools.
If you need it in an IMG tag, do it like that:
<img src="data:image/png;base64, iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAUA
AAAFCAYAAACNbyblAAAAHElEQVQI12P4//8/w38GIAXDIBKE0DHxgljNBAAO
9TXL0Y4OHwAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==" alt="Red dot" />
If you need it as a background image, you can do it like that:
.background {
background-image: url("data:image/png;base64, iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAUA
AAAFCAYAAACNbyblAAAAHElEQVQI12P4//8/w38GIAXDIBKE0DHxgljNBAAO
9TXL0Y4OHwAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==");
}
My, what a difference six years makes! Found this drop-dead-simple method at https://umaar.com/dev-tips/174-drag-drop-image-local-overrides/
Open the Chrome inspector preferences.
Check "Enable Local Overrides."
Locate the original image in the html.
Right-click the file path, and choose "Locate in Sources Panel."
With the image selected in the left panel of the Sources panel, drag
the replacement image from your desktop and onto the preview panel
on the right.
As you hover, you'll see a dotted outline with the text "Drop image
file here." Drop image file there. ;-)
You may need to refresh the page for the new image to display. Yes,
it will persist as long as the Inspector is open and "Local
Overrides" is enabled.
NOTE: The file name will not change in the browser, but the new image will display where the original one displayed previously.
You can replace the url of the background image in the Elements panel with the url of the image you wish to try. Check this link to see how that is done.
This change will show effect immediately in your browser window. As Johan Linder mentioned, you will have to host the image somewhere in case you have the image on your computer.
nate wilton's answer correctly points out how to do this using a Chrome extension.
I have a div and I want to show images as innerhtml using the back end C# code. So that I can generate them as I want them to. In here for innerhtml everything is running fine but the images. While I am giving it a path from my current localhost the images are not showing but while I am putting an web url its working why?
Even if I tested taking the suggestion from the visualstudio like I put a static image in front end and took its path but its still not working. I user the server.mappath(test) this function too.
test = "App_Data/images/37id4.jpg";
divfifth.InnerHtml ="<img src='"+test+"' />";
This says the path is not found here is my code given.
if anyone can suggest me to generate these in better way please suggest.
Hello #Borshon Aeolus Saydur , Its a nice question. Try to give add path like "~/images/.." format. instead of "Images/..".
i have solved it by moving my image folder one layer up.although i dont know what was the wrong in previous layer.but its now working after moving it to its upper layer..
I'm Playing around with a cloud based front end developer called Jetstrap and Divshot. A bit confused as to how I'm suppose to code the PATH for css "background image" when using a web based software like this. Where do I store the image and how do I call it? I would like to preview the background image as I develop before export.
Since I cannot find any upload function on both site, I guess you can only assign an image that they can access that image via network.
You can do it as follows:
Click on an element.
Assign that element a class.
Click the 'Edit CSS' or 'CSS/HTML' at right-bottom.
Write the css rule for the class assigned at Step 2.
Screen Shots:
At the moment Divshot only supports external images. We plan to offer image uploading in the near future. I recommend using the Public folder or a shareable link on Dropbox to host your website assets for now. Copy the public link for the background image and use it as your background image path in the CSS editor:
