I have required field validation control for a radiobutton list. So if no values are selected then it gives me a error which is fine. But when i redo select something and click the button then it does't not fires the server event of the button. Once i have the validation erro then whatever i do it disable the server side event.
any ideas why is it happening my code
<div id="studysub_popul" runat="server" visible="false">
<asp:Label ID="lbl_rdb_study_popul" runat="server"
CssClass="questions"
Text="2.Select your study subjects">
</asp:Label>
<asp:RadioButtonList ID="rdb_study_popul" runat="server"
AutoPostBack="True"
OnSelectedIndexChanged="rdb_study_popul_SelectedIndexChanged">
<asp:ListItem>Individuals</asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem>Population</asp:ListItem>
</asp:RadioButtonList>
<asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="RequiredFieldValidator5" runat="server"
ControlToValidate="rdb_study_popul"
Display="Dynamic"
ErrorMessage="Study Subject is required"
ValidationGroup="StudySubject">
</asp:RequiredFieldValidator>
</div>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>
<asp:Button ID="btn_s_section" runat="server"
OnClick="btn_studysubject_section_Click"
Text="Next" ValidationGroup="StudySubject"
Visible="false" />
</td>
You should add a validating group to the RadioButtonList definition too.
<asp:RadioButtonList ID="rdb_study_popul" runat="server"
AutoPostBack="True"
OnSelectedIndexChanged="rdb_study_popul_SelectedIndexChanged"
ValidationGroup="StudySubject">
i have two form and each form has button , i have abstracted them by two panel so when enter key in each panel pressed , proper button will send .
in one panel i have login form
<asp:Panel ID="pnlRegistered" runat="server" DefaultButton="btnLoginButton">
<LayoutTemplate>
<asp:Button ID="btnLoginButton" runat="server" CommandName="Login" Text="Login" ValidationGroup="Login1" OnClick="btnLoginButton_Click" ClientIDMode="Static" />
</LayoutTemplate>
<asp:Panel>
but i get exception
System.InvalidOperationException
The DefaultButton of 'pnlRegistered' must be the ID of a control of type IButtonControl.
You are missing the value of DefaultButton:
<asp:Panel ID="pnlRegistered" runat="server" DefaultButton="btnLoginButton">
<asp:Button ID="btnLoginButton" runat="server" CommandName="Login" Text="Login" ValidationGroup="Login1" OnClick="btnLoginButton_Click" ClientIDMode="Static" />
<asp:Panel>
EDIT: You can also set the DefaultButton in the code-behind, like so:
pnlRegistered.DefaultButton = btnLoginButton.UniqueID;
put your panel inside layouttemplate of your login control
<asp:Login ID="Login1" runat="server">
<LayoutTemplate>
<asp:Panel ID="pnlRegistered" runat="server" DefaultButton="btnLoginButton">
<asp:Button ID="btnLoginButton" runat="server" CommandName="Login" Text="Login" ValidationGroup="Login1"
ClientIDMode="Static" />
</asp:Panel>
</LayoutTemplate>
</asp:Login>
I'm just wondering if there's a way to add a new checkbox item to an existing asp:checkboxlist control, when another checkbox is checked, without having to do a full postback of the page. Whether it's with javascript, jquery, ajax. Just wondering how (if at all) I can do something like this.
I've been doing some research and it appears I can do a partial postback using an asp:UpdatePanel. I've never used one of these before. Does anyone have an example of how they can be used? Here's what I have, but it's still doing a full postback
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional">
<ContentTemplate>
<tr>
<td width="50%">
<asp:CheckBox runat="server" ID="chkEnglish" Font-Bold="true" TextAlign="Right" Text=" English" />
</td>
<asp:Panel runat="server" ID="pnlTopLanguages">
<td rowspan="3" valign="top">
<asp:CheckBoxList ID="chkTopLanguages" CssClass="cb chkTopLangs" TextAlign="Right" runat="server" />
<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="txtOtherLanguages" onkeyup="SetButtonStatus(this)" onclick="return clearLanguageSearchText()" Text="Other Languages..."></asp:TextBox>
<asp:Button runat="server" ID="btnAddLang" Text="Add" OnClientClick="return CopyOtherLangs()" Enabled="false" /><br /><br />
<asp:CheckBox runat="server" ID="chkManyOtherLanguages" CssClass="cb" Font-Bold="true" Text="Many other languages" />
<cc3:AutoCompleteExtender ID="aceSearch" runat="server" MinimumPrefixLength="1" TargetControlID="txtOtherLanguages"
ServicePath="~/controls/wsCommunity.asmx" ServiceMethod="GetLanguageCompletionList"></cc3:AutoCompleteExtender>
</td>
</asp:Panel>
</tr>
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
Building off Adils answer...to add a checkbox on check of another one, you can use:
$(".classOfCheckboxList").change(function() {
$(this).append("<input type='checkbox' id='newbox' class='currentclass' value='someval' />");
});
As Adil said, this new dynamically added box wont be accessible in the code-behind.
I'm using Telerik's RadListBox control for my web application development, wondering how can I add row into RadListBox via TextBox control, below is my code fragment:
<telerik:RadListBox ID="rlbControl" runat="server" SelectionMode="Multiple">
<ItemTemplate>
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<asp:Label ID="lblName" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("Name") %>' ></asp:Label>
</td>
<td style="width:20px"></td>
<td >
<asp:Label ID="lblAge" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("Age") %>' ></asp:Label>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</ItemTemplate>
</telerik:RadListBox>
Name : <asp:TextBox ID="txtName" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
Age : <asp:TextBox ID="txtAge" runat="server" ></asp:TextBox>
<asp:Button ID="btnAdd" runat="server" Text="Add" OnClick="btnAdd_Click" />
<asp:Button ID="btnDel" runat="server" Text="Delete" OnClick="btnDel_Click"/>
When Add button click, get input from two TextBox and bind into RadListBox.
For deleting, select row from RadListBox and click on Delete button, remove the selected row from the RadListBox.
My question is how can I add and delete rows?
Thank you in advanced.
Hi you can create datatable and datarows. then add the textbox values to dararow. then u can bind this datatable to the RadListBox. For deleting, u need to pick the ListItem index and delete the row from the datatable and again bind to the RadListBox. It will work..
Link for delete Row demo
Also check with my answer in the below link post. you will get idea about insert row
Add rows to ListView
I am trying to use checkboxes to select the items in a Listview. I have added a checkbox control in the , and they are displayed properly.
The problem is that Checked property never changes when I click on them. Why does this happen? And is there a workaround?
Here is the code:
<asp:ListView ID="ListView1" runat="server"
onitemcommand="ListView1_ItemCommand"
onitemdatabound="ListView1_ItemDataBound">
<LayoutTemplate>
<asp:PlaceHolder ID="itemPlaceholder" runat="server" />
</LayoutTemplate>
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:CheckBox ID="CheckBoxSelect" runat="server" OnCheckedChanged="CheckBoxSelect_checkchanged"/>
<asp:LinkButton ID="LinkButtonOpen" CommandArgument='<%#Eval("MessageID") %>' runat="server">
<asp:Label ID="Label1" Text="[]" runat="server"/>
<%#Eval("FirstName" )%> <%#Eval("LastName")%>
<%#Eval("Subject") %>
<%#Eval("Timestamp") %>
<asp:HiddenField runat="server" ID="ReadStatus" Value='<%#Eval("IsRead") %>' />
</asp:LinkButton>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:ListView>
I think you are missing the AutoPostBack="true"
<asp:CheckBox ID="CheckBoxSelect" runat="server" AutoPostBack="true" OnCheckedChanged="CheckBoxSelect_checkchanged"/>
The problem was that I was binding the ListView during page load. When that happened, the checkboxes would get cleared, and I got the Checked property as False in all subsequent functions.
